the alien of the week in this episode reinforces my theory that the Borg acted as a natural selection force in the delta quadrant, one way to survive with them around is to be highly xenophobic and protective of your space like these guys. Others include being technologically or culturally primitive, nomadic and thinly spread, having technology that isn't compatible or adaptable, or simply being militarily superior (though that last one only happened twice to my knowledge, with Species 8472 and the dinosaur people)
I think technically the Vaadwaur would have classified for the Militarily Superior category before they got nuked into their 900 year stasis. Then they qualified for the technologically or culturally primitive category.
@@bradwolf07 The Vaadwaur didn't necessarily have more powerful weapons, they just mapped out a convenient spacial anomaly in the area that allowed them to use surprise tactics and escape quickly, I think using my list they would more accurately fall into the "incompatible technology" category. For that category I was thinking of that planet where they could basically teleport themselves 40,000 light years away instantaneously, but the only reason it worked was because of the unique composition of their planet's mantle, the Borg wouldn't be able to make much use of either of those things, and their transwarp technology is more versatile anyway.
What I don't get, when they realized the silver outfit was a problem, and replaced it with this, why not make this pattern in silver (claim it was a refinement or something). I really liked the later blue catsuit, but the brown one was bleech!
A lone starship? A human pilot (dreaming to be the saviour of the universe) falling in love with an alien woman? Antagonists with questionable/unreasonable motivations? A catchy love song from the 70s? That's a strange version of Guardians of the Galaxy ...
He's the manager who makes his pitchers hit even when the DH rule is available and it's costing the team wins, but the GM refuses to get rid of him because he led a team to a World Series win 20 years ago.
This episode just OK and I'm glad it was named (in part) after my favorite poem of all time. Good thing Worf was on DS9 at this time and not Voyager or he would've KILLED Neelix a long time ago!
How does Seven of sixty nine not know about eating? She hasn't done it since she was a preteen, but it's not "new" to her. It's more like relearning how to ride a bike.
How can the Raven with 7 of 9's family be assimilated in the Delta Quadrant? Edit: Wouldn't "six candles and one extra for her birthday".and the seventy years to get to the Delta Quadrant make 7 of 9, 77 years old? The Alpha Quad to the Delta takes seventy years? That's the whole premise of Voyager. Jeeeze!! The writers think we are too stupid not to notice?
If these aliens of the week really were that paranoid about outsiders, why didn't they destroy The Raven long ago (besides then we wouldn't have a plot for the episode)?
I just love that clip of janeway at the end talking to fear.
It fits even better this time with the song playing.
7:50 "... Janeway refuses to accept that answer on the grounds of shutup": brilliant - thank you.

Arturis' people were probably on par or superior to the Borg. I like the Borg farming theory.

If Seven thinks that eating is terrifying, just wait until she finds out what happens to the food later...
As soon as Janeway said "I get a great deal of pleasure working with clay" when I watched the episode, I _knew_ Chuck would mine that for gold.

Yeah, just add some decorative stitching so she can tell that this is the not choking tight one.
And now I have to find out how many shuttles Voyager had and lost.

For a moment I thought you were describing FarScape.
So getting assimilated is better than eating Neelix’s cooking. Makes sense to me!

7:03 the 4:3 blocking gets me every time. all these people stacked on each other's butts just to be in the same shot XD
Is the sudden restoration push for voyager because we're nearing the end?
Okay,
One: you added the whip sounds to the song? Really?
Two: you didn't use the rule of three?
Well, it's supposed to be torment, right?
@@HansLemurson We did at least get the sounds from Harry Kim's 'special' holodeck program.
You mention messing with Vaders buttons, but I remember that did happen once.
I get the feeling that you dislike Neelix.
I think it's because Neelix combines the smug obnoxiousness of Wesley Crusher with the repulsiveness of a Ferengi.
How did the Bomar feel about the designated hitter rule? On in Janeway's case, Designated Hitler Rule?*
*Okay, she's not that bad.

So it was story opportunities for why she became so prominent.
NOT the leotard?
Because I thought it was the leotard.

Good for Neelix, not for us.
Oh, I would pay to see that.
Good point.
@@charliedontsurf334 Good point!
you are very funny, clearly a talented writer

Being Borg is superior.
The Holodeck/Holo-tech and Otakus...just putting it out there.
You have a singular wit

Dark Frontier straight out explains that the Raven tailed a Borg vessel's transwarp field into the Delta Quadrant.

Yes, even in the future of Voyager, we will still have soccer moms 😆
