Favorite Madonna album since Confessions. Sonically diverse & packed with pathos. She was inspired and had so many catchy songs on this album. Bobs abound. Missing tracks: Auto-Tune Baby & Queen. It was so wild to be around Madonna and her family knowing that she had just dropped such a dope album.
This feels like a “legacy” album, a lot of throwback and references to her past work, but using new (at the time) sounds, it's a decent album, i get why it could be a favorite for many
Hard Candy and MDNA were the first albums it sounded like she was chasing trends instead of setting them. Rebel Heart sounds fresh even today, it was a return to form
I’m not sure she was “chasing” trends with those albums as much as she was just embracing them. She didn’t act like she was chasing trends or pretend the music was anything other than what it was. In any case, the albums’ tours were certainly trendsetting. Ha.
Nice opinion Cats, accurately agree. I was really happy with MDNA and of course, specifically after I watched the DVD of the tour. Touring is our Queens bread and butter clearly, but it was a positive influence of my opinion towards the album.
The exceptional thing throughout Madonna's discography, and it's something that she is mainly responsible for, but not recognized for enough, is her melodic sensibility and the emotiveness of her voice. She has created or molded some absolutely beautiful melodies from the very beginning.
Yes, I very much admire her emotiveness-- she sings with real feeling. There are some singers who have stronger voices but not as much feeling. To me Donna Summer is my idea of having both.
but that's the beauty in it. it's about keeping it fresh and never letting people lose interest in you because you can always blow there minds and I've been mind blown every album I discovered
Rebel Heart is such a great album. Such a shame that the album only sold 1 million copies worldwide and was the first album not to have a top 10 hit single. This was all due to Madonna being a 56 year old ageing Pop star.
@@gopies1456 Exactly. It's already 98% sold out. Touring is where the real money is anyway now in the business. Will add very nicely to already very large bank account. Get tickets now if you can since it's probably her last.
it¨s a great album. I think that the fact that it leaked hurt the album and singles performance.... it was a real shame... "leaving for love" and "ghosttown" really deserved better posstions in the billboard hot 100 ... not only bubbling under status...
This was the album that was geared to introduce her to the “next generation” of pop music fans who might not have known her previous work. Through the song selection, she was able to show the two major sides of her personality on this album - the “rebel” and the “heart”. Definitely one of her great artistic achievements.
I am impressed, the Queen Did that . 30 years into her career. I cant think of anybody else achieving that. 30 years offcourse not a long time, But in pop culture it is light years.
This album is fire and very underappreciated. Devil pray, Ghosttown, Inside out, Wash all over rme, Iconic and Joan of Arc are EPIC 👌👌👌ps, I added Devil pray and Iconic to my playlist in 2015 and lost 45kg in less than 6 months. Just something about those 2 songs... 🔥
Rebel Heart is what happens when Madonna focuses on music and only music while making a record. She had so many other things going on while making Hard Candy and and MDNA and the albums suffered for it. But Rebel Heart was classic Madonna back on top of her game. Brilliant songwriting and sleek, forward-thinking production. I do wish she’d released more singles off of it, tho. Iconic and Holy Water absolutely deserved to be singles. And both songs are highlights on the subsequent tour. I loved this reaction video. I was thinking we might have lost you a bit after the last two album reactions. Haha.
I loved this album when I first heard it and still love it. It would’ve been a massive hit breaking records if she were under 50. The music industry and radio stations are ageist so they didn’t pay any attention to it as they should’ve. But critics did praise the record. And fans love it. Ironically, it’s the Super Deluxe tracks that have always been my favorites from the album. Guess there are some of us fans of those tracks so I’m glad she added them. I actually like them better than songs like Illuminati, Bitch I’m Madonna, Holy Water, SEX. So bottom line is this super deluxe album has something for everyone to like.
The original version of the song Rebel Heart was so much better than this version that ended up in the album. Avicii never forgave Madonna for changing his production and discarding his work. And honestly, I understand him, his version was so good! What happened with that song is a tragedy.
Nah, the finished product was an improvement. His version is definitely more accessible for the dance floor, but it’s also a sound we’d heard plenty of times on previous Avicii productions. A bit childish of him to behave that way when it was her album to begin with 🤷🏻♂️
Actually this album was hard produced by Avicii and his team, sounds and lyrics. But then Avicii got sick and left the project, so Madonna had to make new sounds with Diplo, Mile Dean and Kanye west. Also every song leaked one year before the album came out. You can also react to some Avicii demo from Rebel heart, and those demos are pure art, trust me
Shocked that you didn’t heart Ghosttown, my favorite track along with Wash All Over Me. Great reaction Taylor. I will join patreon soon, wanna see all your tour reactions. 🎉🎉🎉
Your reactions are so satisfying to watch. Genuine and succinct reactions and perfect pacing. Glad you liked this album! It’s her best post-Confessions album to me, but Madame X is bonkers, I’m sure you’ll appreciate it.
I don’t really f with Rebel Heart… it’s the only studio album I never bought outright, just a few singles. I much prefer Madame X, but the great thing about M is she’s so experimental that there’s always going to be something different for her fans. Some albums people will gravitate to, and others they won’t, it’s all good
I've been a big fan of Madonna since I was a child, the first era of hers that I followed in detail was Confessions, I was 11 years old 😃😂... I always thought it was her best era, in terms of music and performances, but then she released this album, and my opinion changed. Rebel Heart is my favorite album, right after Confessions 🥰 The vulnerability and love that she expresses in this album, the message of self-love and self-belief that she delivers, is, and always will be for me the best that she has delivered. I'm glad more people are discovering this side of her. Now get ready for Madame X!!! It's a very experimental album, but still a solid album and a good one.
To this day I truly believe that this is the best album of hers in years (since Confessions)! Best night is one of my absolute favorites and it sounds like it just jumped out of Erotica album!
Taylor, you're fun to watch. And good. Madonna reminds us she can go anywhere she wants. 👏 What a ride!... Thanks for taking this Madonna journey! One more to go and it is something to remember. Loved Rebel Heart and Madame X hit my spot! Thanks Madonna for never stopping. You've been on my radar since 1983 , been on this lifelong journey with you and I love you more than ever. F*** the criticism of late! Do this as long as you want. I think you earned it! Lol.... You sound amazing on Rebel Heart.
Rebel Heart was the album that the "internet" generation discovered Madonna; the first where covers of the songs posted online, sometimes even before the album came out. It's also some of her best writing since Ray of Light and in 20 years time, the songs from Rebel Heart will become as well known and mass performed like those of the "Great American Songbook" tradition, as has already happened with "Like a Prayer" and the songs from Ray of Light, particularly "Frozen" which has taken on a life of its own.
Your reaction to 'S.E.X.' had me dying!! I was a little iffy about how you would react to this because "Rebel Heart" is such an all over the place working; it's experimental in some ways, beautiful in other ways, and forgettable in others. To me, I've always looked at it like she was making one of those painting art things where there are balloons full of paint on a wall and she was throwing darts to expose what was inside. A little all over the place, but the gems are really, really good. I'm *very* very interested to see how you're going to do with "Madame X", which is her most unique sounding album to date.
As always watching you experience the music of Madonna is so much fun. I enjoy your honest interpretation of her songs. I enjoyed this album very much and I think she was robbed of more billboard hits because ppl were over her in a big way. Living for love, Ghosttown, should have been big. Glad to see you feeling this album like you did ❤❤❤❤❤
Always pushing boundaries. Keeping herself on the top without loosing her key musical style and staying up with the trends. That is why she is the Queen of Pop. 💚
Madonna produced Hold Tight herself. And she totally changed it from the 5th demo, which is amazing. Originally it was intended to be a 2CD album Rebel + Heart but the leaks fucked up the rollout. That’s why it has these many tracks and demos
I feel Madame X was her middle finger to mainstream pop after RH. She gave an excellent album that was neglected by the world so she decided to forego the mainstream sound and go for a completely experimental direction. The heart behind RH was that she just wanted to write good songs that could be played with just a guitar, while MX is the opposite, heavy autotune with a hybrid of cultures.
That album was ruined by over production and repeated use of autotune and vocorder. Vocorder on damn near every track! She sounds like a robot through most of it.
Bro, I have a perfect guide of reactions for you about this era: 1) Living For Love's infamous but brilliant performance at the 2015 Brit Awards (that one where Madonna falls at the stage) - 2) The Ghosttown video (very The Walking Dead vibes) - 3) And the demo versions of Rebel Heart and Wash All Over Me, the original versions made by Avicci but discarded after a leak. They are completely different (and better) than the versions that made it onto the album. 🤞
You have to listen to Madame X, but I have to warn you, you will probaly not like it, first time hearing it, I *HATED* it the first time and I almost gave up on her, but listening to it and warming up to it, it grew on me so much. It’s my top 3 favorite albums by her, it’s so intresting and artistically diverse.
I love how you go for like 6 months and then you come back all “well, where were we last week…” lmao, we're only 1 album left, i'm gonna miss these, looking forward your final ranking

Great reaction. I hadn't listened to this album all the way through in a very long time, so really fun to revisit with you. (I could barely listen to MDNA all the way through even once...not sure I ever actually did) You mentioned "duality" a lot and I believe that was Madonna's intention with this album. And just the name "Rebel Heart" sums that up so perfectly.
Duality yes! Madonna original plan was to launch a 2 part album, one CD with the Rebel label (all pop catching and strong songs) and the other CD with the Heart label (all the slow/ballads and heartfelt songs). When the demos got leaked months before, the plan was sent to garbage, she was mad af.
A criminally underrated album, along with MDNA and Madame X. It's unbelievable the ability that Madonna has to make every single album different and unique, it's also amazing how she has become more and more experimental as years go by. You won't find another album that sounds like Rebel Heart. I can't wait for your reaction to Madame X because that is my favorite album but also the most experimental, political and controversial of her career, even more than Erotica and American Life.
Some of the tracks have an Avicii vibe because he worked on the album. When the demos started to leak she changed up some of the tracks before the album was released. The original demos exist online.
Really happy you were able to listen to this record. It's a very underrated album. I do feel she ultimately included far too many songs for the final release. It should have been edited down to the 11-12 strongest tracks. But overall the quality was a HUGE step up from MDNA in songwriting and production. Feel free to check out the history of the album a bit, as several tracks leaked while they were still being worked on. She ended up remixing them quite quickly so that they still felt fresh for the record's release. Some fans (including myself) prefer some of the demo versions. But what ultimately ended up on the album was still solid. The only exception to that being the original demo of "Beautiful Scars", which you can find on RUclips. Give it a listen. The original demo is absolutely gorgeous.
Like N° 1.947... Believe me, I really liked your reaction; Thank you very much for choosing this magnificent album and knowing how to listen and enjoy it. Greeting from Argentina; You already have a new subscriber!
I think the duality of the production you describe is spot on. I believe Madonna once explained that 'Rebel Heart' is also, maybe obviously, about the 'Rebel' and the 'Heart' in her. That explains why most songs have this juxtaposition of harsh beats and softer, sensitive lyrics.
Ghost own, Devil Pray, Unapologetic bitch, Joan of Arc, and Wash all over me are my favorites on the album. Ghost town is one of the best things shes done in years. If you liked this version of Wash all over me, listen to the original demo and piano demo.
41,000 people checked this video out to see Taylor react to MAdonna music. WOW. That is a testament to the power of Madonna, but Taylor gets alot of credit for being AWESOME too!!
Rebel Heart is special to me because I saw her live for the first time on the RH tour - Iconic live was something magical, Messiah the interlude, absolutely beautiful, I was lucky the Like A Prayer was my surprise song too, a night I will never forget and in 39 days, I will be seeing her again on The Celebration Tour, this is the reason I am on the deep dive, thanks for the content! The MDNA shade though 😭 I love me some MDNA as a pre workout treat 🤩
The demos for this record were heavier on the Avicii influences and they are *spectacular*! I am digging your Madonna reactions, binging them all right now!!
The whole album leaked (the hacker was arrested!!) and this fact really affected the promo!! The album has great songs (I LOVE "Hold Tight", my fav one) and how she transits between the dance songs (and she can make dance songs like nobody else) and the ballads (she has such beautiful ballads since the 80's) but it's often debated if demos are better than official or not... Well... I like "Illuminati" and "Wash..." but the demos GODDAMMIT are really better especially the 2° one IT'S A BANGER!! And probably "Rebel Heart" has one of the best vocals in her discography and many still say that she can't sing... 🤨🙄
Do you have any idea how much I was waiting for this reaction 😍 💞 ♥. You got admit that this album was better than Hard Candy 😂. I hope don't wait another season for Madame X (deluxe version 18 tracks) 🤗. Thanks for this dear Taylor

Wooden vocals and generic anonymous EDM production = both MDNA and Rebel Heart. She absorbed the styles and identities and flows of everyone else that produced this and she got lost in the mix.
The fact that Taylor was immediately able to detect Avicii in track #2 speaks volumes. And the songwriting/lyrics were juvenile in an unironic way. This album just wasn’t it and the public response basically confirmed that.

Messiah is my favorite song on the Deluxe, Epic.
Can't wait for Madame X
So underrated and has lots of gems
The demo of the song Rebel Heart is infinitely better than the version that ended up on the album. Give it a listen. You’ll love it.

Imagine if she had done ‘wash all over me’ with a gospel choir
Great reaction. I hadn't listened to this album all the way through in a very long time, so really fun to revisit with you. (I could barely listen to MDNA all the way through even once...not sure I ever actually did)
You mentioned "duality" a lot and I believe that was Madonna's intention with this album.
Thanks someone agrees that these three albums are so underrated but is madam x that people are hating on
I'm not gonna say anything.
Madame X is boring, it's just her obediently promoting to the brainless cattle her overlords' globalist agenda. 🕎_✡️_🕎
Some of the tracks have an Avicii vibe because he worked on the album. When the demos started to leak she changed up some of the tracks before the album was released. The original demos exist online.
This album is extremely underrated
Illuminati is one of my top Madonna tracks ever.
PS: I loved seeing your dog; it reminded me of mine who is already in heaven. Regards bro'
Rebel heart is an amazing album
The duality you're taking about in each song is fitting for the title - rebel and heart
As a die hard MDNA fan I can honestly say that from every album there are songs I truly don't like and then those that I truly LOVE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My Favorite Madonna Album 🙌🏾
Living for love, ghosttown, Joan of arc, body shop, messiah, Graffiti heart, devil pray.. so many classic gems
This is a great album; edited and reshuffled to a thematically tighter 14 tracks, this could have been a classic.
holy water live is amazing!!
This album still remains on my top 5 madonna albums. It’s number 5 lol
i am love t REBEL HEART.. my favory the madonna..top 5
I really like Madonnas song "Holy Water, Inside Out"Joan of Arc , Illuminati and Bitch I'm Madonna are my favs and Wash All Over Me.
Best Madonna Album By Far
Favorite Song: Hold Tight
Least Favorite: Best Night
Im looking forward to this guy reaction to Madonna's new back the beat up
I love Body Shop so much. I think it's ADORABLE and so sweet!!
Loved to watch and see this whole JOURNEY with you 👍🏻
I love your vídeo reactions. You really get into the songs both lyrically and sonically and give an honest reaction.
There's a lot of demos that are so much better than the album version. It's a crime what they did with Beautiful Scars, the demo is so good
Give the title track another listen - it is fantastic.
I love Rebel Heart.
Addicted. Been years and still one of my favorite
The demos for this record were heavier on the Avicii influences and they are *spectacular*! I am digging your Madonna reactions, binging them all right now!!
Best Night is my favorite track from this album!
Living For Love should have been number 1. It’s killer. And I love your goofy dancing to it 😂
