People say he was the goofy and awkward doctor but honestly I think Matt captured something no other actor playing the doctor has. He captured all of the frustration, the emotional depth, the sorrow and loneliness of the Doctor. 11 was just superb and definitely my favourite. He's my doctor.
This made me cry so hard. 11 was such a sad man, so happy on the surface but deep down he was so sad, scared and alone. I love and miss him so much ;-;
When David regenerated i cried for days and weeks.But 11th maked me smile again,that's why i love him.
I remember when i loved the 9th doctor to bits and then when the 10th came i adored him more than anything but when the 11th came.. I had no words. He was everything. He could make cry and then make me glow with happiness just in the blink of an eye. "Im not a hero, im just a madman in a box,"
Do those words not just sink into your heart and make you want to tear up?

Everytime I see the 12th, I see 11 on the phone, breaking apart and its not fair. To me, to all who care about the doctor.

people don't understand why I love the 11th doctor so much. it's not the story or the companions. those help mind you but the real reason the 11th doctor will always be my favorite is his outlook. the doctor has seen so much pain, so much death and destruction and yet the 11th doctor has such a positive outlook on life. he see's a silver lining in absolutely everything. hes such a joyful person filled with so many emotions. never does he let anyone stop him or bring him down. when he does feel pain though, its not masked its real anguish but that's where his companions swoop in. and sometimes you can see that he's hiding behind a mask of happiness, and that is such a real reaction to hurt. the 11th doctor is the spirit of trying so hard to not let life beat you down.

Now hearing you said it made me think about it and realize that at my very early days of liking eleven, that's really is because of his joyful outlook in life, the confidence in anything he did whether it's silly or courageous or really with a plan, the joy and encouragement he gave to others, I still remember I had tried to encourage myself to do something that was scary for me, by imagining the doctor saying you can do that I trust you now go on. Eleven's joy and empathy and confidence was what I looked in him that time. Eleventh is still my Doctor.
oh yeah! Many people hated him for the destruction he caused, Even Amy( im not with Clara yet, i stopped at Season 6 Episode 7) a lot blamed him for his appearance in their world. But he still tried to do better, to save their world.. Now.. Im half David Tennant half Matt Smith.😊☺
Ten is my favorite but 11 is my second favorite. And he is my second favorite because of the reason you said: his positive outlook despite why he'd seen.
Matt Smith's Doctor was special. It felt like his journey, the tracks of his tears, from Leadworth to Trenzalore, was my first complete story of Doctor Who, compelling me to write about the Creeping Cyberman, the Cobweb Men, the breakout at Stormcage, Rory the Roman's fight against Poseidon and the Dalek war of the Abomination Containment Facility. The Eleventh Doctor was daft, but I loved him for doing his drunk giraffe dance at Amy and Rory's wedding and didn't care that it was uncool -- that made him cool, like the Fez on his head and the bow tie on his neck and the tweed on his back. And he had 'a sliver of ice in his heart'. Despite being the youngest actor to play the part, Matt captured the wisdom and the despair of the ancient age of the Time Lord in the simplest of lines and the most lost of stares. He will always be an inspiration to me, feel like a big brother, and was the best madman on the box I have had the pleasure of watching the adventures of. And he had the best hair.
No other tribute has captured the era of Eleven like this one, with the editing and lightning and choice of quotations. I would not re-write one line of this. Not one clip. I swear. And it has hit me in the heart(s). For which I say...thank you. And goodbye.

J'ai découvert Doctor Who à l'époque de David Tennant. J'en avais déjà entendu parlé, mais je ne m'étais jamais arrêtée pour vraiment considérer la série et ce qu'elle pouvait m'offrir. Dès le premier épisode que j'ai vu cependant, j'ai su que ce que je regardais était une pépite. Un diamant brut. Quand Matt Smith est arrivé, je me suis demandée s'il allait relevé le défi, et il est allé au delà de toutes mes espérances. Il n'incarne pas le Doctor, il EST le Doctor. Cet être étrange, fascinant et émouvant, roi des paradoxes, vieux et jeune à la fois, bienveillant et fascinant. Matt est mon Docteur préféré, et je passe des heuuuures chaque semaine à regarder toutes les montages vidéo que je trouve, car j'ai encore du mal à réaliser qu'il en a terminé avec la série. Je te dis tout ça, car malgré la passion dévorante qui me pousse à regarder toutes ces vidéos, je n'en avais encore jamais vu qui m'émeuvent aux larmes. J'aime beaucoup toutes tes vidéos (je suis une grande fan de SPN et Sherlock également) et celle ci tient la palme. Elle est magnifique: du montage aux effets en passant par l'extraordinaire travail que tu as fait sur le son. C'est vraiment 'puissant' (ça a l'air bête comme ça, mais je ne trouve pas d'autres mots). Bravo.

SecretlyToDream It's true. I actually saw this video on Cheezburger, and they presented it as the ultimate tribute to 11, so that influenced my opinion this way. It's still amazing work, it just had that "farewell 11" feel to it that didn't quite feel right without River :)
Can I ask what a Cheezburger is? :) I noticed that quite a bunch of people expressed this concern about River, but when I was making this video I felt like Doctor/River storyline was too big itself and I was kind of overwhelmed with these two companions (in terms of material and everything I wanted to add to the video) as it was so I decided to leave River out of the vid at all and maybe later make a video about Doctor/River only. So, yeah, I totally hear you and agree with you, but it's just my 2d DW video, so I need something for my future DW videos ;)
