When they did the Strongest man in history show, I was really glad they brought out a normal guy for reference for alot of the lifts they were doing. Most people don't understand how strong a strongman really is.
All those memes about having a regular Joe trying to do an event before the Olympics applies double for strongman, lol, letting randoms in the audience try and lift a yoke or pull a truck before a big show would be amazing 😝. Hell, put out Rhianon's U64 Deadlift record out and see how many dudes can even break it off the ground 🤣
I really like where the strongman is going these days - more or less the application of perfect leverage of this self repairing biomechanical device called body. Awesome to watch how you encourage others to give it their best effort.

Circus dumbbell press looks like a lot of fun! Didn't think Ian would get it with such a suboptimal setup. Dude is pretty damn strong. Impressive as hell.
It's hilarious how different lifts affect us. I look at the car leg press and REALLY want to try it because I KNOW I could get a rep, but a 200lb log seems crazy. Yet until recently my squat was about the same as my bench
I would be able to do the log press, but if Mitch called me over I’d have to tell him I need to warm up first 😂 otherwise my elbows would not be happy and I’d probably fail
Matt looked like he had the roid rage when you after you corrected him on the snatch and he got it 😂😂. Excellent show of strength that, you’re the man fr!!

I am definitely no expert on all the bodybuilders and power lifters etc that have ever been been. @@DavidVirtanen The pictures and description of Greg Kovacs via google probably don’t do him justice. He was a beast he would have come near Mitch’s numbers not 460 but 400 is a reasonable estimate.

I know Brian Shaw was balanced with both arms, and I think there are a couple of others... can't remember who they are though. They would love that event! Lol I would not 🤣 My max would be almost halved.
Love strongman events. Sad thing tho is that every joe at the gym seem to be stronger than me, maybe save for the lady that missed the log press which seem to be on par with me.
I think it would be a cool spectacle if at strongman shows they would have average men try to move the instruments before the strongmen compete to show how difficult it really is.
Best ive done with log is 75kg(not sure on freedom units 😅) not something i can train at my normal gym and i have never tried the monsterdumbbell, 40kg seems alot 💪
Pressing overhead is the hardest if you don't consistently train it. Even if you're using the low body it will still feel very unnatural until you get multiples sessions in
I’m desperately trying to find the video wit the comment where a guy said WSM was a 2 horse race between you and Thor, following SMOE. He was mocking me for saying Tom may still stand a small chance as a multi time winner. Don’t get me wromg I’m a huge fan of all of you, just need to mock the guy 😂
Im going to interview average joes! First guy - classic physique competitor. Second guy- 210lb lifter Then elderly man Then elderly woman Then another bodybuilder Then a super fit guy Then finally an average joe
I pressed a log for the first time yesterday, did 135lbs for 2 reps from the floor, technique was definitely a limiting factor. (As was injury, nursing a brused rib currently, not dangerous, but painful enough I really didn't want to push myself.) Launching the implement from that arched back position feels really weird, lol. Still, wicked fun lift, way more satisfying to lock out than a regular barbell, and I'm pretty proud of that for a first ever try. 180lb bodyweight, btw.
The Average person doesn't train at all... The average gym trainer isn't eating properly or sleeping properly The average gym trainer isn't using peds of any kind Train to be the nest version of yourself, do not waste your time and energy comparing yourself to anyone else... especially someone at the very top of the strongman world.
I'd say that's about right, I don't see many people do overhead work, there is 1 guy in the gym I train at that does 70 to 75 kg presses. I haven't done it for a bit but I've done 70kg. There are some guys that bench pretty heavy that I reckon could do it easy but haven't seen em fo much overhead work
In normal life overhead pressing 165lbs isn’t something many people are going to need to do. Give them a month of training and I’d bet a large percentage could do it.
@NBSV1 haha, no they couldn't. Maybe if they only trained to overhead press that weight, most people are scared to pick something kinda heavy up over there head. I watch guys in the gym put a 5kg plate each side of the bar and that's as heavy as they go

@Zone6447 no, there are many different competitions during the whole year, WSM is just one of them. Tom won that competition, Mitch won every other in 2024. They aren't related to one another, they're literally entirely different competitions. Strongest Man on Earth is one of these other competitions, Mitch won, therefore he gets to call himself that. Damn. I did 3x8 50kg with an ordinary barbell today. No way I could press that.
I prefer a log for a clean and press. The press is harder, but I find the clean to be easier. 🤷
I think the actual average for men in all gyms is probably closer to 50 kg...
Agree. Most train 1-2 years for a 60kg overhead-press
Wtf... his DB press is my squat weight (6 reps X 2). Freaking insane.
never tried pressing a log, but i press 180lb at 175 bw. is log harder or easier
The log can be more awkward. Usually what people can do with the log is lower than what they can do with a bar.
Why are you doing all of your dumbell presses with only one hand? Wouldn't it be better for you to do it with both hands in competition?
