    Das Lied ist eines bekanntesten deutschsprachigen Kirchenlieder. Es ist wunderbar, wie Musik Grenzen überwinden kann und Menschen verbinden kann.

    1 Now thank we all our God
    with heart and hands and voices,
    who wondrous things has done,
    in whom his world rejoices;
    who from our mothers' arms
    has blessed us on our way
    with countless gifts of love,
    and still is ours today.
    2 O may this bounteous God
    through all our life be near us,
    with ever joyful hearts
    and blessed peace to cheer us,
    to keep us in his grace,
    and guide us when perplexed,
    and free us from all ills
    of this world in the next.
    3 All praise and thanks to God
    the Father now be given,
    the Son and Spirit blest,
    who reign in highest heaven
    the one eternal God,
    whom heaven and earth adore;
    for thus it was, is now,
    and shall be evermore.

    This hymn was written in 1636 by Martin Rinkart in German and translated into English by Catherine Winkworth. "And free us from all sin, til Heaven we possess", showed the early Protestant reformers were not a "once saved always saved" lot. You have to finish the race and avoid offending God by lapsing into sin as St. Paul encourages.

    A wonderful singing of a great great hymn. (However, Crüger's life took place at least a couple of hundred years earlier than stated in the text below.)

    Please allow me to ask : Why all the flags? Are these the flags of the commonwealth countries ? What does flag-carrying mean ?

    • @johnking5174
      @johnking5174 11 месяцев назад

      Yes, this was the 2022 Commonwealth Service in Westminster Abbey. The late Queen Elizabeth II decided not to attend due to her failing health. She wanted to save as much strength for her Platinum Jubilee in the summer of 2022.

      Lord, every nation on earth will adore thee.( Psalm 72) Many missionaries went out from England to teach the Gospel to the lands they colonized. India used to burn the alive widow with her deceased husband. China used to bind girl's feet. Christianity brought news of Christ and some better ways of living in the present as well as eternity GBY

      They are all the flags of the Commonwealth countries, and the procession was in the order in which the countries got Dominion status/became independent - so it was Canada, then Australia, then New Zealand, then South Africa, then India, then Pakistan and so on.
