    You can customize controls when you have a controller connected. It doesn’t give an option otherwise. The official switch n64 controller is working well after remapping.

      Yup, it’s right in the Delta options for controllers.

    Pretty sure dolphin, provenance and ppsspp have iPhone support if side loading as they need JIT to properly run.

  • @ibleminen
    @ibleminen 2 месяца назад +35

    Can’t remember if apple allows the emulators to use JIT, if not it kinda explains the performance issues. As I remember when side loading delta or dolphin iOS it was recommended to also use JIT which was another workaround.

    • @Jeff1N

      I think they don't, I read somewhere that's the reason some more famous emulators will be skipping the App Store for now

      No JIT so no very high end emulation for now... Dolphin is out of the question until JIT.

    • @ibleminen
      @ibleminen 2 месяца назад +2

      I just did some minor research and found out that only browsers are allowed to use JIT as apple has deemed it unsafe because of its vulnerability

    • @MrSamPhoenix
      @MrSamPhoenix 2 месяца назад

      JIT is Java based, which means Apple has little to interest in it because of its security issues.

      They don't allow jit on ios which massively impacts the performance of emulators so it's unlikely for newer systems to get added if even the ds emulation had some performance issues

    Regarding how to you get games on the device; the same way you get any other files on any other computer: SSDs, SD cards, wired or wireless LAN, cloud services or other servers on the internet…
    I’m happy for people having fun but for the foreseeable future the emulators I’d be interested in are on macOS or AltStore

    I’ve been rocking emulators on iOS since the very first iPhone and version of iOS, before it was even called iOS. It’s one of the first things jailbreaking opened up to us with those devices. Even using a Wii Remote on them has been around since I can remember. Glad it’s finally official, like 17 years later.

    Funny thing is... All the games tested here run absolutely flawless on my iPhone 11! ...And I am absolutely allergic to FPS dips or frame pacing issues. Could it be a PAL/NTSC issue regarding the N64? PAL rom running at 25FPS on a 60Hz display?
    The only issue I have with Delta is the lack of resolution/ scaling settings. Would love my SNES and NES in 3/4 instead of 7/8. I play in landscape with a D8 telescopic controller.

    I'm running Android on a S23 Ultra and emulation on it is amazing. My phone paired with a Backbone One PlayStation edition is great. Playing the Vita game Tales of Innocence R with the English patch and HD textures at 3x internal resolution with stable frame-rate. On the GCN emulation, I'm playing Star Fox Adventures at 3x internal resolution. It's crazy how powerful these little devices are. I remember trying to run zsnes on a Pocket PC in 2002 and that thing struggled with some games like Killer Instinct. It was a ViewSonic V35; it had a 300MHz CPU😂 32MB of RAM. Yup, I was the cool 20 year old 😅

    • @noubyte
      @noubyte 2 месяца назад +3

      Sadly Dreamcast, GameCube PS2 and up are unlikely to happen. Apple still restricts access to just in time (JIT).
      From Oatmealdome Apple still does not allow us to use a vital technology that is necessary for Dolphin to run with good performance: JIT.
      Therefore, if we want to run a GameCube or Wii game on an iPhone, it is necessary to translate the game’s PowerPC code to ARM so that the CPU can understand it.
      Dolphin uses something called a Just-in-Time (JIT) recompiler to achieve this. Whenever the emulated console wants to run game code, Dolphin will use its JIT to translate the PowerPC code to ARM, and then execute the results.”

    Been having fun experiencing the 3DS for the first time on Citra for Android.

    • @TatankaTaylor
      @TatankaTaylor 2 месяца назад

      If that's your first experience with a 3DS, then let me tell you, your experience through Citra is inferior to the real thing.
      And that's because the devs didn't put the work to emulate the system itself to give you the full unfiltered experience. But instead they only tried to make 3DS games work on their emulator (some work better than others, while some barely work at all).
      On the other hand, Mikage is an emulator that is being developed to emulate the 3DS 100%. To give users the full experience of actually having a 3DS. And not be an emulator that just plays 3DS games but doesn't have any of the unique features of playing them on a 3DS (Streetpass, Mii compatibility, friendlists, etc).
      Its like playing RE4 Wii Edition on an emulator and not playing it with motion controls or listening to Ada Wong calling you through the Wiimote speaker. Those type of experiences elevated that version of RE4 over the rest. Hell, even the Switch version of RE4 is inferior to the Wii version because it lacks any of those unique features. Its just a straight port.
