it s a different economy .40$ means something different in each country . imagine getting payed 24 dollars per hour ofc a 1 dollar burger is cheap . but if you make less than 1 dollar an hour that flips the table . the ingredients they use is mostly local and they have to follow the market prices in that country .

In fact, this best seller dish sells so well, there are copycat crispy spicy chicken wings selling for a quarter of KFC's price in every local fresh market in most cities and towns. Most of all, KFC is by a huge margin best selling foreign fast food here.

I was in Chengdu China a few years ago, they had the best chicken I ever had in KFC. Instead of ketchup they also give you this pepper/peppercorn powder, it is spicy and numbing. There is this special chicken burger that is seasoned with green peppercorn, another lever of delicious 🤤

The mashed potato balls with gravy is a brilliant idea. When I go to Popeyes, I always scrape some of the breading from the chicken into my mash for a more interesting texture. Creamy, salty, savory, but with a bit of crunch.
