Dude I am just about to start a project just like that! Taking over the guest bedroom and building these cases. I do not have nowhere near the number of figures that you but watching you do this to how this all goes together is an inspiration to me to get off my ass and do it! Keep up the strong work brother!!

Hey Kev! Very interesting video! I’ll have to make my own for the incoming Batmobiles. What fabric did you use on the shelves? What model of shelf? Just spray painting plywood for the back? They look super good!
They are just bed sheets that I did a little upholstery with... as for the back, that is going to be a sheet as well on some thin particle board. The next video will have all the links and finished product 👀
I like the space garage shelves give you (can fit the vehicles now) and the way you’re fixing them up makes them comprable to the more expensive Moducases. To take it to another level I think acrylic shelves would look great!
Ooof good luck pal, I have as much figures are yourself and it took me two years since I moved into my new place to finally get comfortable. I used the Husky red garage shelves and love them because of the aesthetic. The only thing i need is plexiglass to finalize it all. Hope it all works out, its a lot of meticulous work!
Maybe I’m crazy, but with marvel and Star Wars putting out so much mediocre content lately, I’m losing my joy for collecting. It doesn’t feel like Disney is learning their lesson either.
You are absolutely NOT alone. I collect almost exclusively unlicensed figures these days because hot toys has been constantly increasing their cost while lowering their quality and selection.. If it isn't Ironman or Disney star wars it doesn't come out... But Toys Era and SooSoo Toys and even licensed Mondo sometimes there are still things that are exciting.. 👍
It's good that you're future proofing your display and giving yourself more display options. The lack of visibility of figures at the back of the lower shelves can be an issue which is why I went with custom made glass cabinets with glass shelves. Best collecting investment I ever made as they have the size to display pretty much anything but also retain plenty of visibility. I suppose you could consider getting custom glass shelves made for the displays at least for the lower shelves but it might be expensive.
I did the same shelving and instead of glass. Acrylic shelf and front panels. Works fine. But you may have some heavy figures so you can choose the thickness of the acrylic
I kind of think your collection looks boss as is. I get tinkering, but I think in the end the large industrial custom shelves (unless we are talking about bulk items like your Ecto-1) just make the figures look like they are posing for a class picture. Good luck though! 🙂
Hey! I just did my Costa case, word of advice that helped alot, if you are going to add the black vinyl frame, get a spray bottle with water, spray the whole area where the tape will go, and use like a plastic card and slowly roll the black vinyl from the roll while flatting it with the card (don't cut the full piece and place it) directly on it, will help with bubble and if you catch bubble makes it easier to roll back. Hopefully that makes sense, it was alot faster and made it looked flushs on the acrylics sheets
I normally do not have much anxiety nowadays but @6:25 I did have some. It's like you're in the dumpster and you're not going to be able to get out for a long time. That's a lot of stuff to organize and reset up. Good for you for taking this project on. I'll be back when I finish the video😮😢
@@KeCoCollects The only thing I see that would bother me is the corners of the room blocking some figures being viewable. Have you been able to address that or you okay with them overlapping themselves in the corners of the room? Does that make sense how I’m saying it?
So im at work and need to make a decision. Would yo get Hot toys 66 Batman and Robin or Star Trek 1/6 Kirk and Spock fr QMX. Or Han and Chewie 2 pack. ie Like them all the same? Which would be the best value???? The are all the same price.
Why is this taking so long, looool. I've been working on putting together my moducase setup for over a year now since I had to reorg my office/collection room, make some upgrades etc. so 4 days is a herculean effort to get all that you did done. I feel your pain of having to get stuff done with everything in the way. This was me w/ over 100 boxed up figures/statues in the main living space. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Where/who made that Gizmo? I need one! Also, completely get the struggle with space it’s a collectors arch nemesis! This looks like it was so overwhelming so congrats for making the commitment! It will be worth it in the end 👍
I like the new look, especially for a collection the size of yours (ahem). On camera anyway, the new look seems visually cleaner - flips the glass/metal to figure ratio - especially with less light bounce. Looking good. I worry that your oh shit moment was when you realized you left figures outside on the rain...?!?
I did this for my collection and I'm having trouble getting my acrylic panels to stay on the frame. I tried magnetic tape and that didn't work at all, they just fell off from the weight.
I had some issues on my first one. I found that the rivets sometimes pushed the panel off the frame. I doubled on them and they were good to go once they were flush. Hope that helps!

Just white, "IKEA DETOLF" - they only come in one type. Detolf is the brand. You can check IKEAs site for more details. I did add my own lights though.
I'll be honest I really like both looks a lot lol. The only downside to the new look is the corners of the cabinets overlap so some of the figures are hidden away, but there's so much more freedom to move things around elsewhere so it might not matter anyway, or you could just put the figures that don't behave into the corners until they've learned their lesson.

I remember that feeling, its like looking at a big ass rock that you have to push over a hill, and the rock keeps getting bigger every time you bump into a new problem to solve.
i know dude, When i ordered the moducases, they took over a year to get to me, then i realized i needed extras based on the space, that added an additional 6 months of waiting, all the while boxes were all over the place, then finally after assembly came all the decision making of what to put where, what needed to be let go, the realizing just how much crap i had accumulated, it almost made me quit collecting. almost. It sincerely brough up alot of the negatives of collecting, but when all was said and done, it was something to behold, and actually be proud of. @@KeCoCollects
I did the same thing! I actualy found metal shelves that had corner units as an option and went with those. Honestly I would have gotten Moducases, but the wait time is just rediculous so this option is more redily available and oh yeah a heck of lot cheaper! Can't wait to see the fiished layout, looks great so far.

Make sure to PLAN. If you plan ahead of time, it makes it a lot easier to commit.

They were ikea detolfs ... I sold them all to a local store here.

I have them in a storage unit. Far easier for me. Not for everyone of course.

Han and Chewie. The 66 Batman has knockoffs if you really wanted them. And Kirk and Spock are cool, but not iconic like the others

They are just garage shelves I customized. Bunch of options from local hard ware stores
