Love it! Both BTCC in Australia and UK always intense close racing! The strength of these cars back then and now shows how safety is important to all the drivers after some very nasty crashes

They were -- a long-standing fear of fire (although perhaps less justified by this point), plus safety cars were rare (though not unknown) in the 90s, so the other cars would tend to be racing past the incident under local yellow flags. If you crashed, you wanted to get away from your car over the fence to safety.
