I think what I like most about your covers is that you make them truly your own whilst still staying respectfully close to the original. I respect that about you and I love that you have that respect for the greats. Huge props to you.
Hi from England, I remember when I first heard this style of playing about 60 yrs back. I was bowled over. Loved it ever since. As a 74yr old player I try to recreate it, but when I want to hear it done right I come to listen to this guy. Thank you Justin.
Kicking it up a notch, get the foot to going now, or you won't have a chance to catch up! Solid tunes tonight, making a lockdown bearable. Thanks Brother, the music fills time with joy!
I’ve loved Justin’s playing for years now, and ran across his channel when he had a tenth of the followers he does now. It’s great to see and hear more people find this channel. Now that everyone who is involved in the arts has to ‘social distance’, I’ve seen a huge increase in the amount of output from artists. Quality pieces too, not just whatever they can throw up on a YT channel. It actually reminds me of the arts that came out out of WW1 and WW2 (typically called trench art; although people tend to think of carving on brass shells and written down ideas or even books from the long times of waiting between skirmishes instead of ALL of the arts that came from that time period.) It has been great to watch, I just wish it didn’t take a pandemic for more people to see and appreciate some of the great artists out there. I hope you all take a little time each day to find &/or listen to something that grabs you and maybe, just maybe, makes you smile. Stay safe everyone!
Thanks for taking care of us during these crazy times JJ! This was spot on- and I've really been enjoying your live streams. Missed the last one because I was at work. The live instructional streams is a great idea. Stay safe man.
I want to say thank you Justin. for what you are and for your music. the sound of the strings is reborn between your fingers and it is extraordinary to share all this with those who are interested. you have heart Justin, and the soul of a true artist
JUSTIN PLEASE, JUST NEVER STOP DOING THESE. YOU´RE THE REAL GOAT. I ADMIRE YOU A LOT. i will love to learn playing like you , but i don´t even have a guitar.
I had the opportunity to see Justin live during a Summer NAMM festival in Nashville. He was playing his shovel guitar. I believe this was 2017. It was an awesome experience.
absolutely enjoy your music . i just discovered it and im glad i did ... its hard to pick a favoritr cause i like all the songs ive heard , thank you for making such amazing music
This is amazing, truly great! Never heard a better version of Spoonful, this is how it's supposed to sound, fantastic. Anyway I saw this coming on late last night (my time) and I couldn't believe what he was doing. A new layer of blues sound and what an amazing guitar!!
somebody should put up the lyrics to the song so we can all sing along with the top of our voice to honor the legends of old and new and then i mean you Justin. great work as always
There are pictures that you can hear, and songs that you can see: if you don't see yourself in an old shed in a dusty town in western america smoking a pipe and drinking whiskey, you are wrong Jokes aside this is fenomenal, wish you the best of luck in these trying times; stay safe, and stay at home!
I never really had much of an interest in this Genre/Slide Guitar until I discovered you JJ. I was always a Classical Music person who loved ZZ TOP and a handful of others who played Guitar. So THANKS for sharing your time and talent with all of us!
Sweet sounds, especially at the end. Thumbs up (before watching) to crush a troll. I really like the F-hole design on that guitar. It meets all the acoustic and stylistic requirements without having the weak, pointy bits. If I ever build something with F-holes, I'll use that design. Thanks much for brightening up the day.
Awww Beautiful Vinyl! I have all of Howlin Wolf's and John Lee Hooker's records too. J.J. is proof that this Blues Crossroads Magickal Music will never die off, like so many people are predicting. Blues is Alive and Well. Bless your Magickal fingers and Soul J.J.! Peace, love, health and harmony be with you All. ✌❤🔮🎶🎸😎🙏 🇨🇦🐈
Woooooow!!! Godaaaaaamm!!! So good I think I'll download so I can keep it and listen to it again and again whenever I want. Thank you for posting... fuckin incredible!!!
Love this song, love this cover, would love to hear as a collaboration with Larkin Poe as they do an awesome version as well, nothing better than two of favourite artists Making awesome music and great tributes. Man I love the blues!!!
So I had to listen to Mr. Wolf's version outta respect. Because he and John Lee Hooker have been my main men all my life. I fell in Love with them back when I was 8 or 9, my sisters boyfriend turned me on to them and Canned Heat too Then when I'd saved enough money walking dog's I and bought my first record's. Several their records, 5 each, along with 1 of Frank's, "Weasels Ripped my flesh." So I've been a life long Blues Woman. J.J. you never disappoint my ears or eyes. Watching your hands as the dance along the strings, the different rooms you play in, and your over all look and energy comes across. Magickal Musician! That's why several videos ago I asked you if you've been to the Crossroads at midnight as the story goes. And I'm not saying that you couldn't achieve this level of Magickal Musician status without going. It's more of a complementary observation that you are eight Miles Higher than anyone living today. I appreciate your playing it is a wonderful day when I can spend some time just listening to you playing. Thanks again for sharing your video's with us. Peace, love, health and harmony be with you Brother. ✌❤🔮🎶🎸😎🙏 🇨🇦🐈
Thanks for watching! Please Hit the SUBSCRIBE button while you're here! 😁
Practice, practice, practice... it's the only way to get where you want to go
I thinkin the MYSTERY GUITAR is your favourite 🤠
Listened to Howlin’ Wolf for years, then Cream covering for decades. And now the master…wow!
No one plays "my" Blues like you do! 😍
For me Spoonful is the quintescence of what the blues can give to us.
Howlin Wolf's smiling somewhere
So is the man who wrote. Willie Dixon👍💪
Smiling ??? Ha, Ha, Ha !!! He was not a nice guy when it came to musical opinions and taste.
I think what I like most about your covers is that you make them truly your own whilst still staying respectfully close to the original. I respect that about you and I love that you have that respect for the greats. Huge props to you.
Justin Johnson is becoming one of my favorite musicians
What a gift! And thousands of hours, honing your skills=Result: Totally Beyond Imagination!

Hi from England, I remember when I first heard this style of playing about 60 yrs back. I was bowled over. Loved it ever since. As a 74yr old player I try to recreate it, but when I want to hear it done right I come to listen to this guy. Thank you Justin.
Thank you Justin, and thanks for the tuning....Peace
I'm sure Mr Wolf was singing along to these rendition. Phenomenal.
A resonator, that slide and JJ are an unbeatable combo!
Another great blues moment from youJustin,it's help us to forget the bad situation of the world ...thank you.I love your music Cheers from France.

I wish I could relay to you how your music makes me feel.! No one can make a slide sing like you do. I love it! Maybe I should just say, Thank you❤️
This sounds like something straight out of TriGun and I loved every second of it.
Thanks for taking care of us during these crazy times JJ! This was spot on- and I've really been enjoying your live streams. Missed the last one because I was at work. The live instructional streams is a great idea. Stay safe man.
You’d crush it here in Austin my friend. Unfortunately this is the kind of sound that the “live music capital of the world” is missing.
Dis guy's got a lot more than just a spoonful of talent
I want to say thank you Justin. for what you are and for your music. the sound of the strings is reborn between your fingers and it is extraordinary to share all this with those who are interested. you have heart Justin, and the soul of a true artist
Justin never disappoints! 😜😬

somebody should put up the lyrics to the song so we can all sing along with the top of our voice to honor the legends of old and new and then i mean you Justin. great work as always

Justin you are the bomb when it comes to slide.
The sweet sounds coming from you seem endless and will last forever in my memory bank. Keep it up, my brain is never full.
