I love that you have that flag on your guitar I lived in the south and never once did. I look at that and think racism. It was just southern pride nothing more nothing less. Thank you for breaking that mold.

Yes, thank you for your comment.
Indeed, the black blues artist Tom SIMON, adopted child in France (Ahmed Idris Hussein = his birth name) who ordered this guitar wanted this flag to denounce racism! Not everyone understands this ! Unfortunately, he died in 2022 at the age of 27!
His album “Help myself” is a masterpiece.
You can find it on RUclips, I invite you to listen to it.
      ruclips.net/video/MtdT_gwUbFA/видео.html
His mother gave me this cigar box guitar I'd made for him.
As a Frenchman, I'm a bit embarrassed to play this guitar because some people might think I'm racist, which I'm really not!

@@mitchcigarboxguitar6447 if you have the opportunity to make beautiful music, come out of that instrument do it the symbol on it has nothing to do with racism, and I hate that it has been adopted as such those of us who know no it’s nothing but southern pride you’re allowed to be proud of what and who you are and where you’re from racism is a hateful state of mind and I wish would just go away but along with it I would like to see stupidity and miss information. Go with it. I will definitely check out his video. Thank you very much you have a great day.

@@mitchcigarboxguitar6447 well with that "flag" there is really nothing you can associate it with other than racism but if you are trying to change that you have a hard mountain to climb, I don't think that mountain has a peak.

@rath_films A friend's mother gave him the guitar. What is he supposed to do, paint over it because somebody might be offended by the modern misconception that the confederate battle flag is a racist symbol? That flag was a symbol adopted by people who were and still are proud to be from the southern USA. It's not about hating anybody.
I'm gonna like his videa because I like his song, I like his guitar, and his playing gives me ideas. I have a cigar box guitar. I think I'll get my artistic wife to paint a rebel flag on it and make a video.

You all really need to read up on your history. The flag is a symbol of heritage, not hate. If we allow our narrow points of view to only see a symbol of racism and hate, then we really haven't come that far, have we? The Confederate States were it's own nation before the war. Many state flags still resemble the Confederate battle flag. It has only been in recent years through groups like the Neo-Nazis that the flag has been misconstrued. The Civil War was about slavery, not the flag. If you go that far, then how about the racist ties to the California state flag? The bear and star are racist symbols as well. Also, don't forget that Robert E. Lee was asked first to lead the Union soldiers by Abraham Lincoln. Lee's father played an important role in our freedom from Britain. I emplore you to learn your history and not regurgitate it from the mouths of others. Educate not regurgitate.

Thanks Carl. It’s acoustic Guitar strings, extra light. String A D and G. The strings are tuned in open G (G D G). Acoustic Guitar Strings sound great with a microphone! And it sounds louder without an amp than electric guitar strings. However, I also use electric guitar strings on some Cigar Box Guitars especially when I want to do solos. For example, Watch on my channel the solo « sympathy for the devil »

Some people are offended by history, and want to erase it. Some prefer to remember history, for better or for worse, so hopefully it is not repeated.
While I personally wouldn't put a confederate flag on my CBG, I wouldn't insist that someone with such a design was racist. To reduce people to a cultural cliché like that is the same kind of narrow-minded attitude that real racist people are guilty of.
That said...yeah, probably not the most popular option lol
