- Pro tips for packing a canopy from Alexandra Mao Iancu at the Skydiving DZ in Utti Finland.This is not a 'how to' video or 'the only way to pack a canopy' video, and definitely not a speed run video (she can pack in ~3mins if necessary) - if you find this useful then go for it and try. Good pack job, I noticed one error. When removing the pull up cord always loop it to the backside to the pin, this prevents excessive wear on the closing loop.
I have been struggling with packing for a good while now and @103 jumps this video made sense and I was able to get the chute into the D bag with no issues.

should wrap the closing tool around the bottom of the closing pin before pulling out the closing tool, as not to wear out the closing loop. now if i can only get it in the bag...

Been jumping since 2005, never heard of the nose openings called "tunnels"
First part for me is slow but amazing, you leva e5e lines perfectly, but I don’t like how you put it in the bag (too slow) and the lines, there’s absolutely no tension, normally I do two twists with the bungees. Anyway, as you said, there’s plenty of ways to pack, good video :)
If you do twists to the rubber band at the rings, you have the risk of a bag lock. And it happend. So better put small rubber band instead of the big ones. And also pull the ring the way you can tightnen the lines.
Ah. And at the part with folding the canopy to fit it in the bag, well... I know it 3 ways. And for me that one that is in the video works better for me.
I also want to specifique that on canopies smaller then 100ft i do it again different. I put the 1S from the top of the canopy in the bag, and then i put the 2S (with the slider) in the 1S that is in the bag. For me they are all quick enough.

If you want to freefly, come with the bridle and the pin from the downsite, go up, pin through the loop and go down to the pocket. If you do this, there is no bridle, which can get into the wind.
great vid not a fan of how yoh pack the pilot chute with the bridle exiting the bottom of the pilot cute if you get a horse shoe mal it can bunch up the pilot chute in the spandex pouch and make it impossible to extract. i will b taking some aspects of your vid and employing them on my pack jobs tho

I was thinking this myself ... prob effects things very little ...
I learn to pack from a south african. Since then i packed more then 10.000 packjobs folding the S that way. Works very good.
several comments:
1) PD suggests to double-stow the lines, prob other manufacturers, too
2) you should move pull-up cord under the closing pin before pulling it out to diminish damage to the closing loop
3) not a rigger, so don't know if this "reverse S-fold" OK,
4) her way of packing PC may result in a horse-shoe in case of a premature deployment.
Anyone who is just learning to pack, check PD videos or talk to an instructor at your DZ

1. I do not double stow the lines if the rubber is the good size. Especialy at the ribgs from the bag, i never make them double. If, if the last rubber are small, again i dont need to make then double.
Anyway. Personal choise !
2.I can change that loop from closing when i want. Is just my way of doing it. I really dont like pulling the cord under the pin. I just dont. I can very easy check my loop at every packjob and replace it if its damadged. ;)
3. The reverse S i learned it after i knew the classic one. It just became my way of packing. Its from SouthAfrica that way. So the day i found it out, i start it to apply it and thats it. It works for me and for other good. I dont apply it on smaller canopies. For Tandems i do southafrican style also.
4. Listen to who knows. Corect.
Dont mind me. Who wants to take the tips will take and who dont wont. ;)
2004 was when i started skydiving. 3600jumps and around 50 dropzones, 30 countries. I got the tips from more experience flyers. Anyway.

That rig should be closed bottom, top, RIGHT, then left. Closing it the way you do in the video with a hand deployment system creates an additional snag hazard for the bridle on deployment that can result in a container lock.
+Mike Safire I agree that a right-left sequence does not have the snag hazard that the left-right one has. BUT according to the manufacturer of this rig, this container has to be closed left-right (like Mirage or PdF). Therefore it is done right in this video.
+Martin Krumböck I was unaware of that for this manufacturer. I looked up their manual online you are right. Sorry for the incorrect statement.

Sloppy cocked pilot chute, rather jamming than packing the bag, bungees long enough to double stow and pull way more inwards, the distance between right and left stows should decrease towards the back, typical lazy cord pull killing the loop in no time. All in all "it would open ok", but for a video not tidy enough.
Fritz von Pixelhausen why do the shows have to decrease in length towards the back? What does this do?

You shouldn't rest your face on your canopy when deflating it as sweat and oils in your skins aren't good for it.

Don't worry. It works just fine. For more then 10.000 packjobs this is my way. You pack how you want. For me safety matters. You do what's safe for you.

Please use a tripod next time. Or, at least, learn how to hold a camera steady. I'm literally dizzy and nauseous from watching the video, and couldn't watch for more than a minute, or two.
