      Stop thinking you know best. This song was from the 1970s and many of us remember that time of innocence, unlike many drug fuelled concerts/festivals from the 1960s..🎼🎸

      The first time I heard this I also thought it was Ferry, he looks similar in some videos as well (when dressed as a sailor.) The man at the end with champagne could be Steve Harvey's lost brother too.😂

    This song was ahead of its time, it had the exuberance of the 1983-1986 (Red Box, Lean on Me etc.) and the joy of Give It Up KC and the Sunshine Band.

    My late wife and i were fans of Sailor . An underrated band we saw them live at The Palace Theatre in Manchester. This is one of my all time fav songs.

    Gosh. OMG I remember this really well. I played in bands all my life since I left school in 1969. And still do in London. Pubs and clubs. From Aberdeen. The band I played with in Aberdeen was pretty good and was Hammond Organ and Fender Rhodes player in a 5 piece. We covered this fantastic song and was always requested along with usual stuff. Procul Harum. Marmalade. Beatles etc. But I really remember this particular video and you guys must have had the time of your lives. The beautiful energy and enthusiasm. Thank you for the memories.

    My Dad always had this song on a mixtape in the car. Every time it played my sisters and I would be in hysterics! It wasn't that we thought it was silly, it was just so uplifting we couldn't help it!

    I hear this for the first time on BBC Sounds of the Seventies a few weeks ago, and have been playing it regularly ever since. Seems apt given lockdown and everyone looking forward to celebrating with friends when this is all over.

      The first time I heard it, was on the M&S advert with Twiggy, Erin O'Connor and Noemie Lenoir... Still my favorite ad, they all looked like they were having such a great time filming it 😍😍😍😍😍

    Our feature Ep. On RetroCountdown this week is a "captains pick" by me. I love this song...loved it back in '76 and still do. The Ep. will be "a glass of champagne" "girls girls girls" "traffic jam" and "stiletto heels". Available tomorrow. The ABBA maxi Ep. unfortunately sold out very early last week....every man and his dog wanted it. We have upped production at the vinyl factory this week and stocks will be available tomorrow.
    Day 6961. A prime number. Raw honey and all of my urine til 3.15pm then fresh and dried figs and grapes and sprouts then more urine then fresh fruit and vegetables and other foods at 8.00pm. No change.

    I love Sailor music. Quality pop, with fantastic storylines that nod to serious, adult themes. Amongst many great songs, for me 'My Kind Of Girl' stands out.

    Germany loved Sailor. "A Glass of Champagne", which sounded like Roxy Music on happy pills, went to # 3 in the single charts. Their album TROUBLE, where it was from, also made # 3 and stayed in the Top Ten for 20 weeks.

    I saw Sailor in 1975 when they supported (I think) Cockney Rebel, they had a couple of hit singles, Girls Girls Girls and Glass of Chapagne and the back to back pianos were the gimmick. Happy days.

    This band were Great & they also had another song titled '20 century Traffic jam' along with the Album: Dressed for drowning, then that was it. The last I heard about them was on Radio 1 when the DJs asked what happened to them, apparently They All went & joined the Navy 🇬🇧 😎.
