I know this is apparently one of the earliest Oasis songs, dating back to before he even joined "The Rain"--believe it goes back to around '90 or '91 at latest. Judging by Noel's voice, I'd say this recording is no later than '92, and my instinct tells me its earlier...fascinating.

Julian Sp could not disagree more. For starters there is no “album version”, unless you’re talking about it being on the Masterplan. It’s a b-side. And that b-side is an absolute masterpiece with one of the best guitar solos Noel has ever recorded. I wish it WAS on Be Here Now instead of Magic Pie..

I think a LOT of people are turned off by the organ (I think it's a Rhodes, perhaps?), and especially the brass that they decided to adorn the standard guitar/bass/drums on the studio version. If I remember correctly, in an interview for "Masterplan" Noel said something along the lines of that he was "going for a Burt Bacharach-type sound"--in a certain sense, that he was TRYING to cheese ball it up (he strongly dislikes the tune, by the way, which is why he cut it from BHN). I get why people's first instinct to that sound is "a-whaaa?", but I think that's a cryin' shame, because the studio version is easily one of my favorite Oasis tunes...that chorus, with Noel harmonizing with himself at the very tippy-top of his vocal range...the lyrics, which are like the darker cousin to a "Rock and Roll Star" or "Supersonic". It shares the rock and roll fantasy of those songs, but instead of being freed by that fantasy, in this one the singer is almost oppressed by it...it's pure daydream escapism in an attempt to distract himself from the everyday unhappiness of his routine existence. He "wants to be wild", but his outlandish dreams never get to take flight; by the end of the chorus, he's conscious, back in his seat, "going nowhere."

It is 100% Noel's voice. This demo got officially released on the Be Here Now remaster box. (Just as the description of the video says). But it's probably a very early recording
