JAY NORTH - I feel for you...and what you had to suffer. I understand childhood trauma, personally. But I am glad you grew into such a fine adult ♥♥♥ Thank you for being you.

I recorded this back in 1991 & recently transferred it to DVD. This was the first time I ever remember seeing Katie Couric. Danny Bonaduce appeared on the same show.

That's disturbing. I hate his aunt and his uncle. How are they treat that boy so harshly. I would HATE TO BE THEM if they are dead.

I used to watch DENNIS THE MENACE when I was a kid growing up late 60s maybe also early 1970s

What an insensitive way for Katie to end that segment, with a bad joke. I think Jay struck a nerve. It seemed like she needed to defend "the business of show" by deflecting.
I hope she has more compassion now. #ShowBusiness #ChildStars

Sometimes there is no way deal it except to draw your way out is what you did. I had a similar experience when when I was going up with my parents. I was never on tv but it was when I was in 70's when I had worse. My father beat on me in 60's over something that didn't happen.
Yes the hurt never gets over , but now we have freedom for ourselves.
I don't think I ever saw the series when it was on , but I watch now on the reruns.

He was intelligent enough at that time if he was an actor he could have picked up the phone and called law enforcement or someone to help him if he felt he was being abused I don't want to hear it cry like a baby wah wah. You weren't forced to dig ditches. You appear to be having fun. You were blessed to be paid to have fun. You wine like a an overpayed big fat Jay North Baby. Somebody feel sorry for me. Wah....

@@jameswalters1389 I think some are a bit too scared to do anything. He said that he didn't tell his mom about it.
If it had been me I would have.
At the time it was on I didn't get a chance to see it.
My second grade teacher was very abusive like that. She wouldn't make certain kids mind.
She look like she was in her late 70's and was pruney face. This was in 1960. She let some get away with everything. When she would get enough though she would stand them in a corner. One day she had half the class standing at the wall. This was 7 year old kids. I think she ran out punishing methods. 😅
I got in trouble one day with a boy and him being annoying. This same teacher wouldn't stop him. So I did. It went on for a week. She paddled me for it I was mad and wouldn't look up at her. I was 7, she knew she had went too far this time. I told my mother , and I think they had a good talk. Thing were never the same between me and the teacher again. She would make hateful remarks. She asked my mother came out every friday for the spelling test?
      I didn't know.
She said what if every kid's mothers came out like that!
She was blaming for mom being out there. 😒 I think Jay was trying to keep down problems. 😩
