You can actually fix the frame rate issues on Elden Ring on PS5 by playing the PS4 version under backwards compatibility mode, the game runs at a stable 60fps that way
I wouldn’t mind seeing if FF7 rebirth, FF16 and other games get performance boosts. There were complaints about performance on both games. It’s probably a waste for most who have the PS5z but for those who have the pS4 and PS4 pro it probably looks like more of a deal.

Ps5 ain't powerful. Games like granblue fantasy, resident evil 4 l, final fantasy 7 etc don't look clean and sharp enough. Pro might actually help those types of games. I personally would play them on pc but might buy ps5 pro if it's actually worth it.

A mid-gen refresh only means they can be even lazier with less optimization still, and stay even further from taking advantage of the hardware at hand.

OG Xbox owners understand current Xbox owners getting skipped. I remember when talks of bringing EA sports games to Xbox ended with the EA rep. saying to the Xbox people, "You don't need us, and we don't need you." And that's why Microsoft eventually stopped making their own sports games.
I've honestly been satisfied with just my PC and Switch combo for good while now, and I think this is pretty much how I'm going to stay from here on out. One of the main draws of consoles to me has always been collecting physical media, and while I think Nintendo is still going to keep that going for a while, it's getting faded out quicker elsewhere with the rise of digital and ever growing file size of games. Besides having to wait to play the most recent FF's, I haven't really missed not having a PS5 otherwise.
PS5 Pro? If they are hoping the people that have not upgraded their PS4 would upgrade to a PS5 Pro may be too late because some may have moved on to a PC (like I did for more than one reason).
I have to say you're in the extreme minority and most console gamers will stay on console. We also got data that about 50% of the active ps base is still on ps4. When they upgrade it'll be to the latest pro version. They'll be more incentivized because the jump is much bigger from ps4

Also, you cannot create folders like on the PS4 to move stuff you don't want to see into it. And as for not seeing stuff, good luck. For one, you don't have as many options for your background. Second, expect to see promotions. Lots of promotions. In fact, my first impression of my PS5 was more like my Xbox One than my PS4 Pro.

Yeah people dont take into account the preset picture options, many probably still have stock settings with wrong colors and unnecessary post processing. Then again for many monitors/tvs, tuning may not even fix the issues if its cheap enough, cheap displays = mehh results.. Most of the time.
@@LainK1978 And will have ghosting or overshoot or terrible grey/black uniformity, terrible backlight zoning, inaccurate color calibration. All these get worse when it drops down to 60hz because monitors tune for the best performance at the highest rated refresh a monitor can go, so dropping to 60 you tend to see the image quality drop further to where its a mess, especially on cheap tvs. And considering most console games run at 60fps you're in for a blurry artifacting mess. Theyre cheap for a reason, theres more to tvs than resolution and refresh rates.
My $225 4K hdr tv is badass, tyvm. I don't give a damn about 120fps and even though it's capped at 60hz, everything I've played on it looks great. (pc and ps5) There is *zero* "blurriness" and there are certainly no artifacts of any kind. Modern affordable tvs are (mostly) pretty incredible, you sound like one of them touched you in your no-no spot and you've never gotten over it. 🧐
I stopped playing No Man's Sky maybe a week or two after launch, and recently bought it on the Switch because it was on sale. Oh my god it is so much better even on the Switch. I would definitely say to jump back in. I even saw that it was on Game Pass so I'm gonna start on the Xbox as well.
Tales of Xillia was my introduction into the Tales series, which I would say was a great introduction into the series, and I did a little bit of the sequel, but unfortunately, I never finished it. If they put both games in a bundle for the current gen consoles, I will play both of them and finish both of them.
Maybe Nintendo will _switch_ things up and announce it at Tokyo Game Show (Sept 26 ~ Sept 29) and then release it during the holiday 2024 season. Maybe around then the PS5 Pro will be released.

The ps5 pro needs to do more than what is rumored. Things like better framerates with 4k, or raytracing are things that it was supposed to do anyway. But it was the usual combination of overselling capabilities and games not making full use of what is there.
nintendo could totally pull of announcing the Switch 2 in Feb and release in March with GREAT success. I would get more excited that it was announced and basically launch right away. Doing that would def have a much higher interest for leaker in manufacturing, but the masses won't care or even see most of that.
I agree with you that we aren't getting an announcement on Switch 2 until early 2025, but I think they will release it in the 2nd half of 2025. It's really important for Nintendo to get the first 12 months right for their next system. Since Switch is doing just fine on it's own, they are holding off on Switch 2 until they have plenty of software ready for it's first 12 months.
It’s cool to see SNK’s take on CAPCOM characters, it’s usually the other way around. Sprite work is nice, it’s definitely an under performing fighting game though.

I love sports games but growing up in NYC, our house didn’t care about college football. College Basketball was our things…as far as college sports go.
17:05 I'd expect Nintendo to put up (at a minimum) a teaser trailer showing the Switch 2 and snips of the launch games then a "tune back in date" for an official announcement. (Remember that Channel 1 N64 pre launch trailer?) It would be a good idea and help drive hype. The biggest thing is it will stop leakers across the manufacturing chain and delivery chain. If they don't say something before it goes fully into production (this would be a good 3-6 months ahead of the expected release date). Then it will get leaked in some way.

I never saw SNK vs Capcom as being an X-Box exclusive. It came out on PS2 in Europe. I bought it and I liked it more than the Capcom vs SNK games. Very good game.
I think the people who pay attention to gaming news already have a switch… people buying them for the holidays are parents seeing a deal(maybe a big discount on switch consoles this year) or people buying some new collectors edition switch to keep on a shelf.

The American and Japanese division had tension, especially made worse when the American branch wanted to cut the price of the Genesis and bundle the new Sonic 2 game. Furthering this matter, the Japanese branch decided to announce the Saturn coinciding with the American branch launching the 32X Which lead to the conversation from anyone following gaming in magazines or the tech industry to write off the 32X, knowing a next generation system was right around the corner. This caused the cracks to form, showing that Sega had no issue selling you something that was outdated next year, and would go abandoned because no one wanted a 32X when the next gen was on its way. The Saturn mismanagement and mishandling being the final nail.

Problem with the new gen is (and you know this) if you don't have the right tv or monitor that fps doesn't matter. And your average game thinks that $200 4k walmart tv is all they need

Yeah people dont take into account the preset picture options, many probably still have stock settings with wrong colors and unnecessary post processing. Then again for many monitors/tvs, tuning may not even fix the issues if its cheap enough, cheap displays = mehh results.. Most of the time.
The average $100 4K TV from Walmart can easily do 120 hertz.
@@LainK1978 And will have ghosting or overshoot or terrible grey/black uniformity, terrible backlight zoning, inaccurate color calibration. All these get worse when it drops down to 60hz because monitors tune for the best performance at the highest rated refresh a monitor can go, so dropping to 60 you tend to see the image quality drop further to where its a mess, especially on cheap tvs. And considering most console games run at 60fps you're in for a blurry artifacting mess. Theyre cheap for a reason, theres more to tvs than resolution and refresh rates.
My $225 4K hdr tv is badass, tyvm. I don't give a damn about 120fps and even though it's capped at 60hz, everything I've played on it looks great. (pc and ps5) There is *zero* "blurriness" and there are certainly no artifacts of any kind.
Modern affordable tvs are (mostly) pretty incredible, you sound like one of them touched you in your no-no spot and you've never gotten over it. 🧐

I stopped playing No Man's Sky maybe a week or two after launch, and recently bought it on the Switch because it was on sale. Oh my god it is so much better even on the Switch. I would definitely say to jump back in. I even saw that it was on Game Pass so I'm gonna start on the Xbox as well.

Tales of Xillia was my introduction into the Tales series, which I would say was a great introduction into the series, and I did a little bit of the sequel, but unfortunately, I never finished it. If they put both games in a bundle for the current gen consoles, I will play both of them and finish both of them.
Maybe Nintendo will _switch_ things up and announce it at Tokyo Game Show (Sept 26 ~ Sept 29) and then release it during the holiday 2024 season. Maybe around then the PS5 Pro will be released.

The ps5 pro needs to do more than what is rumored. Things like better framerates with 4k, or raytracing are things that it was supposed to do anyway. But it was the usual combination of overselling capabilities and games not making full use of what is there.

nintendo could totally pull of announcing the Switch 2 in Feb and release in March with GREAT success. I would get more excited that it was announced and basically launch right away. Doing that would def have a much higher interest for leaker in manufacturing, but the masses won't care or even see most of that.

Since Switch is doing just fine on it's own, they are holding off on Switch 2 until they have plenty of software ready for it's first 12 months.

I assume that the Capcom Collection not being on XBOX has to do with the licensing of VEGA/M. BISON fiasco and having to reverse the characters names due to the potential Mike Tyson legal issue

DevKit lets you play all these retro rereleased fighting games and then some. Yes it sucks not getting them new again but they’re there.

17:05 I'd expect Nintendo to put up (at a minimum) a teaser trailer showing the Switch 2 and snips of the launch games then a "tune back in date" for an official announcement. (Remember that Channel 1 N64 pre launch trailer?) It would be a good idea and help drive hype. The biggest thing is it will stop leakers across the manufacturing chain and delivery chain. If they don't say something before it goes fully into production (this would be a good 3-6 months ahead of the expected release date). Then it will get leaked in some way.

I never saw SNK vs Capcom as being an X-Box exclusive. It came out on PS2 in Europe. I bought it and I liked it more than the Capcom vs SNK games. Very good game.

I think the people who pay attention to gaming news already have a switch… people buying them for the holidays are parents seeing a deal(maybe a big discount on switch consoles this year) or people buying some new collectors edition switch to keep on a shelf.

Actually look into it. The American and Japanese division had tension, especially made worse when the American branch wanted to cut the price of the Genesis and bundle the new Sonic 2 game.
A move that was infuriating to the Japanese branch, but was reluctantly allowed in the service of helping the Genesis.
Furthering this matter, the Japanese branch decided to announce the Saturn coinciding with the American branch launching the 32X
Which lead to the conversation from anyone following gaming in magazines or the tech industry to write off the 32X, knowing a next generation system was right around the corner.
This caused the cracks to form, showing that Sega had no issue selling you something that was outdated next year, and would go abandoned because no one wanted a 32X when the next gen was on its way.
The Saturn mismanagement and mishandling being the final nail.
