How to easily get rid of face redness in Lightroom and Photoshop

  • A colleague of mine was having trouble removing the red from her client headshot images. I created this video to walk her through it. Ideally the first step is that you use an X-rite color checker passport adorama.rfvk.net/VLrYJ so you can create your own custom profile for your camera and then take a shot of the white balance target as well. That way you start with an accurate white balance and color tones. If you don't have a color checker passport at least have a shot with something that is white (a gray card is ideal but if that isn't available even a piece of white printer paper is better than nothing).

Do other videos on RUclips work for you? Others don’t seem to have issues with it on their end.

Thanks for sharing this very useful tip! How would you go about smoothing out the background and fixing the white balance of it? Thanks.

For smoothing out the background I would use the patch tool. For the background color if you want it neutral gray duplicated the layer. Then desaturate that layer. Then use the object selection tool. Click on select and mask. Refine the edges. Then invert the mask. With a low opacity brush get the edges to blend well if they haven't already.
