@salmanpakipaki They are T-2C Buckeyes, which were built by North American Aviation. I think that the US Navy stopped using them as training aircraft around 2004-2005. They were replaced by the T-45 Goshawk training jet aircraft.

Obviously there’s simulators, but with all of the massive engineering structures mankind has ever made, you’d think they may consider building just the flattop portion m, with hydraulics, on land to mimic the pitching and rolling of a carrier; This would give the students a feel for the motions they’ll face.

I can't count The USS Midway in San Diego cause she was an axial that was angled twice Forrestal, Saratoga, Ranger, Independence, Kitty Hawk, Constellation, America, John F Kennedy and of course Enterprise were built keel up as 1000+ feet angle decks. The world's first supercarriers. I'll never understand why the USN let them die I know America was used as a live target and Enterprise was nearly dismantled to remove her reactors---but none of the other's---really? No sweat, there is some strange lingo in here...but every culture and sub culture has it's specialized terms - I just didn't think THAT conversation was ALL that incomprehensible. At least - until you try to teach cadets. "They put that runway there for a reason, son. Why are you on the grass?" :-) That and "You've lived here HOW long? - and you can't find your way back to the airfield?" - "It looks so DIFFERENT from up here." - I have that conversation, a lot.

WTF? 7,24 - what is the part you are having problems understanding? or did you put down the wrong time hack? - 7.24 is in the Ward Room, and how the works of man seem somewhat insignificant when you're in the air...true enough...and, "coming down the groove" is about making the landing. although - I teach my cadets on a flight simulator, an they sure seem to have trouble with the concept of "keeping the plane on the runway" when landing...
Jill Burgon Great respect for him and his classmates. No matter the amount and quality of technology you have at your disposal: it still takes a lot of guts and intelligence to fly to a boat and land on it and then fly for your country under any circumstance, anywhere, anytime.

I remember the first time at the ship in the T2J-1. It was a hoot!! 1961 - VT-7 - Out of South Field, NAS Kingsville Texas.
Those gorgeous F-4's with their color paint scheme are among the coolest planes ever!

Just about everybody smoked back then. During class they used T-28 1820 pistons as butt kit ashtrays, while most smoked in class.
