I just started cooking dinner after my daughter has gone to bed for the next day. It is a game changer. I get home and can actually sit down. I can help with homework, fold laundry, clean something, etc. It has really made my nights feel longer and still we have a nice home cooked meal ready to eat! As a teacher, I am just too exhausted to continue being on my feet.

Another couple of things that help me: I try to run the dishwasher right after dinner, and open it after so the dishes can air-dry all night (dry cycle doesn’t quite cut it), and my boys can put the clean dishes away before school. That way, I can load dirty ones all day and they won’t get so piled up. Also, when I pack my gym bag at night, I’m not scrambling to get it done in the midst of the morning craziness, and inevitably forgetting something like socks or a bra. 😏 Thanks for another helpful video, Jordan!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for showing a mom schedule/routine that reflects someone who is not a morning person (in all your videos)!! I have such a hard time waking up in the morning but I still have to roll out of bed and get things going for my family. It makes me feel much better about myself to see that there are other moms who struggle with mornings the same way I do. It's SO inspiring to see you take the time to come up with innovative ways to make you more efficient for your family! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Oh yes! Prepping makes life so much easier. Pull tomorrows clothes today, look at the calendar and discuss with spouse what needs to be done for tomorrow that way there are no surprises, check meal calendar and pull anything necessary. Bookbags and jackets go in the same place everyday. This is a must !

I do something similar with my pets. I have a handful of herbivores so I will make a large tub of pre-chopped veggies so it is super easy to grab and give it them. With my cat I leave her food and food bowl on the side next to the kettle (where I also have my mug, tea bag in, kettle topped up ready) so while my brew is being made I feed her. She doesn't bother me for food anymore, she just runs straight to her feeding area as soon as she hears the kettle.

One thing I've started doing in the last few months is bringing water into my Master Bathroom when I head u to bed @ night. I fill up my biggest water bottle (for me that's a 750ml HydroFlask) and put it in the bathroom next to my vitamins. That way before I have even headed downstairs, I have gone through at least half of it (sometimes more) while I am getting dressed/brushing teeth/moisturizing/deodorizing/etc. I know I could do the same with the glass by the sink, but this way I can measure how much I've had b/c I know exactly how much water is in that bottle.

These tips are simply great! Me and my husband started doing first five a while ago and they have changed our lives! We suddenly have SO MUCH TIME after work that we can work out, go for a walk, watch a movie - things we haven’t dreamt of doing for months! Also, I try to do a big meal prep on Sunday. I usually cook vegetable broth (to be used for risotto, meat or as a base for cream soup with roasted veggies), two to three types of baked veggies (potatoes, butternut squash and beets for example) and a big batch of some pasta/rice sauce. The whole process takes me about an hour of prep and then all I have to do during week days is to assemble some salad, cook rice or pasta, and we are covered with lunches/dinners for the whole long week! :)

Thanks for this video Jordan and I am wishing you all the best.

I keep an easel chalkboard in the family room with our daily schedule for the kids to see. Each night, I review my phone calendar so I'm mentally prepared, then I write it on the board for the kids to see the next day. They are way less stressed when they know what to expect during the day. And, I always make sure they know exactly when they need to be IN in the car to go!
I also take my bath the night before so I don't have to worry about it in the morning--plus it's much more relaxing than a rushed shower! :)

    • @wholesomehouselife7423
      @wholesomehouselife7423 5 лет назад +5

By soaking your oatmeal you decrease phytic acid (found in a lot of foods) which binds to minerals in your body and prevents them from getting absorbed. You're basically getting some extra nutrients from your oatmeal if you soak it. Same with other grains and nuts.

I go over my planner before bed, then shut off all the lights and head up. Take my night meds. When I was in university, I also had a job and a million and one other things to do. Having my backpack completely ready to go, as well as snacks, lunch, and outfit ready the night before helped me rest easier so I can sleep in a little in the morning. It takes 20 mins tops and saves me from being grumpy and stressed all day.

My daughter and I don’t get home from work / after school care till 6pm, we’re both exhausted, and Starting to cook dinner then was becoming the last straw for both of us. SO we switched, now dinner is finished and in the fridge ready to reheat and we have the energy to carry on with the evening chores. It’s not as perfect as a freshly made meal but we’re fed and it’s changing our whole night!!
Sorry for the novel, love you guys ☺️💖

You're so smart for prepping it the night before! I would definitely do that as well! You could also try prepping some crock pot meals for the next morning so you can dump everything in your crock pot and come home to a nice warm meal!

@@jordanpagecompany Ooooh good thinking, we're just coming into winter in New Zealand so I need to drag my crockpot out of the cupboard and find some recipes.

I’m a stay at home mom of a 9 month old and have used a lot of these tips since the baby has been born and it definitely does help. Each night I’ll pick out my own cloths but since my son is still a baby his cloths get picked out for the whole week Sunday afternoon after doing his laundry and have a spot on the dresser where I grab the set each day. I’ll make sure I put a diaper and bib with each so I’m fully ready to go. I’ll also make sure every night that his diaper bag has everything and my gym bag as well.

Love this! We do a lot of these already! 👍 One other thing I do the night before (to help with our hectic mornings) is shower! So all I have to do in the morning is get dressed, brush teeth/hair and do my makeup. It makes my morning so much easier! 😊

Yes! Nice. Sounds like a tiny thing but when I wake up in the morning I'm so tired still and grouchy a little and no patience so the last thing I want to do is have to fool with making the coffee. All I have to do now it's just press a button and wallah

I've done all of those things over the years, and have had periods where I did ALL of them, and periods where I did NONE of them. My verdict: Any of them or some of them are definitely better than none of them, and doing ALL of them makes all the difference in the world. Not just in the morning, but throughout the whole day. It adds structure, relieves stress, saves time and money, etc etc. I work nights now (11pm-7am) and homeschool the one kiddo left at home in a very non traditional manner (and he's a mature 14), so I actually do my stuff in the morning, to prepare for the afternoon and night. For me, waking up to a mess, dishes in the sink, piles of stuff all over, no clean clothes, can't find my keys, dead phone, and everyone starving and ready to order out AGAIN makes me want to hide under the covers and never come out! It really, truly takes a huge toll on my mental health! The one really important thing I do for my family (I'm a caretaker for my mil who we live with, besides myself, hubby, pets, and special needs kiddo) is make sure all of our meds, vitamins, supplements, etc are set up and ready to go, and that the people who can't find things have their items handy and in a very visible place- not just clothes and such, but also the remote control, eye glasses, false teeth, favorite yogurt is front and center in the fridge, and so forth. You hit all the universal biggies, though!

I run the dishwasher every night but I put in on 3 hour delay, because I HATE the noise while I’m trying to relax. It’s normally around 7 ish so at 10 ish I’m for sure in my bed. It’s nice to watch TV or talk to my family and not compete with the noise of the dishwasher. I also prep the laundry the night before, I put the load in with the detergents but I wait to run it until I’m drinking my coffee (before the kids get up) in the morning, then I wait to put it in the dryer. It goes in when I’m walking out the door for the day. Again so I don’t have to listen to the noise of clothes tumbling while I’m trying to enjoy the one hour with my boys before they go to school.
    Great video. Thank you.

I always ensure leftover chores for the day are done as soon as I put L.O down for bed, like put washing away, kitchen cleaning, hoovering, mopping, bathroom cleaning etc BEFORE I have a much needed chill on sofa and watch 1 of my programs before bed.
Wish I listened to your phone tip, I always get stuck on it before finally sleeping

I often put out breakfast bowls and cups for the next day. When I first went back to work after having a baby I would also put out clothes for the whole week on a Sunday night. It was just one less thing to think about in the week - especially if it was a sleep deprived week!

I always found myself running through a million things in my head before going to bed and stressing about it so I type it all up on my notes on my phone and I feel better because I can go back to it and easily remember what I need to get done. Wow, good thing you accomplished what you did, right?
I think someone who stresses about trying to make sure everything is done before they sleep (I can see me doing this) then you might, also like me, stress about getting one more thing done before you go out the door - I've had to face the music that THAT is the real reason I'm always running late!!

I'd say brain dump and checking the calendar is the most important thing for me the night before. My husband makes sure the dishes and floors downstairs are straightened up, and that is super helpful in starting the day off right! We have lunches made from dinner leftovers in the freezer for my hubby to grab on his way out the door.
