I guess I am curious about an heirloom coin collection that I own. My aunt and uncle spent years on the penny collection they completed from 1939. Just looked for it, someplace in the closet now. Anyhow the commercial mounting is grey in color, and they show all the variations from 1909 through my birthday in 1939. The card is autographed with a short note to say why it was collected. I thought I might dispose of this filled in collection card, might make a good addition for someone. Kinda hate to pull the coins out, so might you have some good ideas on this ?

I have a 2013 d quarter it's a double die error the first attempt to stamp the coin didn't work it smashed the coin then a second attempt was made over top of the die smash and it stamped some parts on the coin for the second attempt for example the L in Liberty sticks out on top over the die smash. I sent a photo of this quarter to someone and he said it was damaged but he is WRONG I would like to send another photo and get another opinion. I eventually would like to have it auctioned off or sell it out right if the price is right.

Hi Thomas, cleaning coins is controversial. If a coin is cleaned it will lose value and grading companies won't give them a number grade. They're considered damage. However, if they're your coins your free to do whatever you want with them. I would only caution you not to clean a rare and valuable coin. www.pcgs.com offers a "preservation" service to professionally clean and preserve a coin.

Thanks for this video mint miser. Would you happen to know the value of uncirculated 64 Kennedy half dollars? They're still in the original roll from 64. I asked a coin shop and they told me they were only worth scrap price. I don't believe that for a second. ✌
Hi Susan, a mint state 1964 is valued at $17 at MS60 according to PCGS.com. With them still being in the "original" (mint wrapped) roll they are probably a higher grade than MS60. A complete mint wrapped roll should be worth a little more because of the surprise factor, there may be varieties like DDOs or RPMs that should increase the premium. I checked recent sales of unopened rolls on ebay and the top 2 were $385 and $340. Melt value for the roll is $170. If you asked a reputable shop how much they're worth they should have told you something similar to what I said above. If you asked them how much they would give you for them, the melt value answer might be accurate because they would only buy something with enough meat on the bone so they can make some money too. When you say original roll, is it a bank wrapper or a US Mint wrapper? A bank wrapped roll would be worth less than a mint wrapped roll. If they're bank wrapped they were in circulation and the coins could have a lot of wear. If you take a look at ebay you can get a better idea what they're going for. I hope this helped. Good luck!

I saw a video a long time ago saying Kennedy's wife requested they made a change to his hair and that variety is supposed to be a higher value. I'm pretty sure they called it accented hair.
@@MintMiser I'm pretty sure it's a mint wrapper. I got them at my bank for face value. I couldn't believe they were actually a full roll and my curiosity got the best of me. I put on gloves and carefully opened each end just to be sure they were what I thought they were. I only took the first one out of each side in order to see the second ones in to be sure. I was very careful not to tear the wrapper so I could keep them intact. They appeared pristine and almost like a bright white. I would bet my life that they've never been in circulation. I put them in my safe and never touched them again. Been wondering if I should separate them into the white cardboard flips with gloves of course. Doing that would also let me get a better look at each coin for varieties and errors. If it were you Mr. Mint Miser would you do that or keep them intact in the roll? Also, thank you for your lengthy reply to my original question. I sincerely appreciate you taking your time to help me out.
If you opened each end of the roll they're not mint wrappers. They are "sealed" from the mint if I remember the video I watched correctly. You have to actually RIP open the mint rolled wrappers versus "opening each end" like wrappers you buy at walmart

Hi Zahir, a 1909 S can still be valuable depending on the condition of the cent. It's not as valuable as the 1909 S VDB. A reputable coin shop will be able to give you a good estimate on the value. Congratulations and good luck!

I think you mean 1858. In average condition, an 1858 Flying Eagle penny is worth between 30 and 40 bucks. 🙂
