    finished it! my third project. super easy, only took about 12-15 hours! the chain waist band is genius, i'll definitely keep it in mind for other projects, as a way of avoiding having to weave elastic (especially as i tend to have issues fitting stuff at the waist). it looks so pretty! i used light multicoloured pink-blue-yellow for the main skirt, and dark multicoloured black-purple-green for the bottom and strings!

      @@ABoCStudio thanks! Unfortunately I also learnt the hard way from this project about RSI and crochet elbow 😭😭 I have physio in a week and will probably need splints for a while. I wonder how many new crocheters get caught out with this lol.
      When I get back into it, I'll be stopping and stretching every 30 minutes, and I've ordered ergonomic hooks. Do you have anything in particular you do to prevent hand and arm injuries when regularly crocheting?

    • @ABoCStudio
      @ABoCStudio  Год назад +1

      @@shadycatz85 oh noo😭 I'm so sorry to hear. I would definitely recommend you to get the "soft grip crochet hooks" and also you can diy the soft grip with beauty sponge/blender (images.app.goo.gl/tE2jrBssVgL7b4u36). And yes taking mini breaks within the project is very important for our handicraft-well-being, we can stretch or walk around or look outside (muscles & eyes exercises). I really hope you'll get well soon💗💞💞💞

    • @shadycatz85
      @shadycatz85 11 месяцев назад

      @@ABoCStudiowhile I have you here, is there any tips you have for not having the lace slit tightening shut while wearing? I've tried multiple tying methods but what happens is as soon as I start walking, in order to move with my muscles, the slit pulls closed and then the parts wrapped around my leg become loose. Whether it's loose or tight, the results are the same

    • @ABoCStudio
      @ABoCStudio  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@shadycatz85 I think you'll need to make the whole skirt tighter, so that it won't have space to pull the slit together. You can watch out for the stretchiness of your crochet piece's fabric, it has different degree of stretch that we tend to forget. Hence the skirt flat measurement may be right, but together with the stretch it's actually bigger than what you need 🧶

    This is 🔥!! I can't wait to try to make this! So far I do have a question, when u are joining the foundation chain, u have it to do a slip stitch but it looks like u joined it with a single crochet. Which one is better to join?

    • @ABoCStudio
      @ABoCStudio  2 года назад

      Tysm😘!!!Slip-stitch then tight is the best to join chain, and yes slip-stitch look a bit like Single-crochet (for SC you you pull out a loop then yarn over pull through 2 loops on hook, for Slip-stitch you pull out a loop then pull that same pull through the loop you already have on your hook)

    • @backtomarzzz
      @backtomarzzz 2 месяца назад

      just straight, then repeat
      edit: it just has to fit your hips so you can put it on correctly, you’ll put a hidden drawstring underneath the band so it’ll fit your waist

  • @Ems4Luv
    @Ems4Luv 8 месяцев назад

    So to be exact, im saying a random number now, if the hip measurment is 56, then i need to chair 56?❤ love this video!

    • @ABoCStudio
      @ABoCStudio  8 месяцев назад

      Hi💞
      Nope, I explained at 1:52. So basically the chain has its stretch degree and this stretch is relative to everyone, you'll need to wrap it around your hip to make sure!

    • @ABoCStudio
      @ABoCStudio  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there, it's her yarn that is aready changing colors (sometimes it calls ombre yarn), you can check out Sultan Pastello yarn by brand Cotton Kings the color 08 is pretty similar to Sakura's. Another way to change colors is to switch the yarn color on-off within your WIP, you can learn that method from this cat beanie video: ruclips.net/video/9wvM41koMH4/видео.htmlsi=0f61z9iVeB5MOmFv

    would you recommend this pattern if there's a big measurement difference between your hips and your waist? there's about an 11 to 12 inch difference between my hips and waist and im afraid the waist band will look funny :( but maybe in wrong?

    • @ABoCStudio
      @ABoCStudio  Год назад

      Hi♥️ this is a great question! Keep in mind that the crochet fabric's elasticity is limited, so to put on a skirt (no matter how smaller our waist) the waist band has to be big enough to go through our hip! This is the reason why our foundation chain is based on our hip, even thou that chain actually belongs to the waist band!
      There are 2 things that support the waist band in this pattern: 1.The ribbing stitch in our first rows(back/front post Double crochet), this kind of stitch will add a bit more elasticity to the band! 2. This is the most effective waist support: draw-string closure!

    hey! i really like this skirt, but since it is transparent, could i maybe put some extra fabric underneath just to make it not transparent? i don't know the exact word for it, sorry! and if you can instruct me how to do that, it would be lovely, thanks!

    • @ABoCStudio
