Thanks for such an informative video!
If you’re looking for content ideas, I’d personally love to see a tutorial on how to strip old, flaking paint from a wicker item, and another on how to apply a nice oil/keep the wicker looking healthy

Wow I always wonder what happened to you. Glad to see your doing well. Thanks for the two new videos and just in nick of time too as I have to re-cain my chair seat again which i learned how to do from one of you past videos.

Hi! First of all, it's heartening to see your videos across these years :)
I want to know if I can reshape (one) bent edge of my square wicker table back into shape with the rest of the three corners. I really need your wicker wisdom here 🙏

Great video. I have problem with reed braking at the end when I turn it around metal frame. Do I need to pre-soak the reed or is there any other way to make it more pliable? Thank you.

Oh yes, most definitely soak the reed for approx 10 mins in warm water first. The reed must be supple to bend easily. Good luck.

@@wickerguru thank you for your reply and for advise. I'll soak it before starting to work with it.

Great video! Do you use anything on the wicker afterward to coat it so it blends in with the other pieces?

Hi Melissa, you can apply a stain mixed in with orange shellac, however I don't recommend this as it can weaken the cane fibres. Note that new cane will darken naturally with age and natural sunlight. It's far better for the cane to stay natural. Applying orange oil every now and then is best.

I have a vintage stroller that needs fixing. Can I put epoxy on it to harden and bond everything in place?

I'm not in favour of your suggestion. It might solve the issue, but could quite possibly look artificial. Just clean and try and rejuvenate using linseed or orange oil would be my option.

I repaired the wicker as shown but now have a big colour difference in the new vs old wicker, and don't know which stain/varnish to use to make it look the same

You will have to carry out a few tests to see which stain finish will match up. Mixing a stain in with a lacquer, shellac or polyurethane is the best option. Just be aware that the new cane will darken with natural sunlight and age. So best to try and achieve a slightly lighter stain match that an exact match. There's no quick nor easy option. :(
