Alyeska is so much fun I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm on my 6th year snowboarding and have been down Christmas chute a couple times, I can tell you that its a lot steeper than it looks like in any video you can find.
Dude, the way this was filmed I could tell you let your buddy go first and show you the way. That to me is real snowboarding having fun, knowing your limits etc. Excellent job on this video really has me thirsty for a run.
Just got back tonight from a two week stay up there with fam. 2 feet of fresh powder was laid down on the Saturday (5th of March). Sunday was absolutely epic at Arcitc valley. Glad you made it up there!
Sick content Kevin. Keep shredding to the top. Maybe the best snowboarding channel that feels organic and not overproduced. I'm glad to have worked and partied with you back in the mid 2000s. Scope your lines well and keep your spine in tact as I'm repairing mine to get back into shape. I burst my L5 with L1-L4 fractures and 3x pelvic bone fractures on Blackcomb Jan 7. I'm walking now and my balance/strength is getting better each day of physio. My doctors and physiotherapist have all told me I'm more than lucky and will ski again next season. When I return to Blackcomb next season I'm hosting at RMU if you want some beers with laughs and a party of good people. Jono.
I burst my T3 and L2 at the end of the 2019 season. I had to go through 2 major surgeries and now have a spinal fusion. I got back into snowboarding last year and im back to doing gnarly Colorado double blacks this season. I stay out of the park now but I consider myself a better snowboarder than I was before. You will get there, I got really lucky to not have major nerve damage or paralysis and it sounds like you did too. Just make sure to work out as much as you can this summer because that's the time you will be able to strengthen your spine the most.
Hey. I dont mean to sound rude. But as someone who grew up in girdwood and works full time as a lift operator. Im a little sad i didnt see lolos, spiderbite, gear jammer, and the actual longest double black diamond run. Northwest passage. Christmas chute is not the longest double black. Its sadly not even close to the hardest chute on this mountain. Im sure you guys could have asked tj while you were in the tram or any of the lift operators at the base of chair 6. Hope you guys come visit our mountain again though. Great videography though.
When you guys come back. Lets talk. Me and my friends can give you a tour of the mountain. Possibly including the mountain shacks that are built into some of the runs. We can party it up alyeska style. Also i am addicted to your videography levels so i feel like if you teamed up with our lift ops you could make a vid on the real style of alyeska.
I have family in Palmer, not too far from Anchorage and they keep telling me how much i need to fly up there to ride Alyeska. This video made me get online to keep looking for a plane ticket
Tallest mountain (Denali) in North America is about 5 hours north of where Kevin was boarding. I board at alyeska almost every weekend. Not been brave enough to do Christmas Chute.
@@SnowboardProCamp Hilltop is just a local mountain for anchorage and just for beginners. Arctic Valley on the other hand is pretty great. Similar to Alyeska northface but more lowkey, just a huge tow rope all the way to the top
@@SnowboardProCamp don't bother with hilltop, but arctic valley is steep and about 1000 foot higher up then Alyeska if it's in the budget a heli from Chugach powder guides is way worth it. I have been skiing AK since the 70s and will be hitting soon we already have a little snow and its mid-October!
I was going to say that about Japan, then I saw the pine trees. Looks fun. I want to know how it compares to Switzerland, I've been there once, and to the rest of the world...
Great clip guys! What are your thoughts on the terrain overall at Alyeska for an advanced snowboarder going with an intermediate skier? Is there enough intermediate terrain at the resort? Also, how often are the upper hike-to areas closed in your experience? Thanks in advance!
Alyeska is really hit or miss. Close to half the terrain can be closed on a low/unstable snow year. But when Alyeska is good it’s unlike anywhere in North America. You wouldn’t get the hype of the resort as an intermediate though. Insanely steep high risk lines is what makes the place world class. Also it can get absolutely dumped on lol
Depends on the airline… for southwest it counts as a free checked bag and that’s what I always fly. Other airlines that don’t offer free bags, you just pay the regular fee (as far as I know)
@@SnowboardProCamp many times! My birthdays around slushcup time so I go often. Need to get back up there I’m turning into a fat dad! Thanks for the motivation
How long was that double black diamond? What about Lenin and Marx at Big Sky? Those are double blacks and crazy long! Some of my all time favorite runs.
From the top of Christmas Chute is 2,500’ vert, with the bottom 1,000’ being just single black. Although, that’s an Alaskan black, so still steeper than most places double blacks.
Just went snowboarding for the first time ever yesterday. Your videos gave me the motivation I needed. Thank you ❤️
Yeww!
@Shooter I woke up very sore, but I am determined to learn 😁🤞🏼. I loved it.
@@karlanavarro4858 Haha get used to that! I always wake up really sore after a day of boarding! It feels great tho

Alaska amazing traces on powder! Good runs ! Bravooo
What part of Alaska is that?
About 40mins west of Anchorage
I honestly thought that he was going to Canada but I realized it was Alaska
Wow I never knew Alaska had such huge mountains, looks like a cross between Europe and Japan! So sick!

Do you plan on going to arctic valley or hilltop while your here?
Not this trip. Would you recommend those spots for next time?
