I hate thinking this, but the fact that we're now seeing - and yes I know it's on the desktop and we may not be near laptop launches - 13th gen intel and 40 series nvidia makes it a little more difficult to pay top dollar for a device with soon-to-be last gen specs. Have a great weekend Matt.
I have. I had the two machines side by side for a couple of weeks. I really liked the Zenbook Pro 16X overall, but the display I could not live with it. It was super glossy. Literally a black mirror. Any lights behind it were a distraction at best and blinding if it was sunlight. Very annoying and caused a lot of eye strain in my use case. There is also a visible white mesh that can be seen in areas of the white screen areas. I had read somewhere that it had to do with the touchscreen matrix or something like that. But I am not sure that makes sense. The display is not as bright as the claimed 550 nits. That peak brightness is only possible in a small window. The sustained brightness of the display is closer to 360 nits. I found for outdoor use or when there was a strong backlight behind it that it really needed to be about 20% or so brighter. I ended up returning it yesterday and keeping the X1 Extreme Gen 5, despite my preference for the Asus in many ways. The display was just something that I could not live with. Battery life and performance were otherwise very similar. Ports are also similar, though the Asus only has 1 USB-A. The keyboard can be hit or miss depending on your preferences. Some like the 7-degree tilt, while others don't. I fell into the liked it category. The trackpad is also hit-and-miss. Nice large size, good tactile feel, and haptic feedback. But sometimes it seemed to have a mind of its own and did everything except what it was supposed to do. It reminded me a little of training a puppy. If they don't understand the trick that you are trying to teach them, they will do every other trick that they know for the treat, even if none of them are correct :) (that can hopefully be fixed via a later firmware update hopefully?) The included backpack and pen were nice value-added features of the Asus. But it is disappointing that the memory and SSD are soldered on and non-upgradable. Not an issue if the configurations that they offer do suit your needs, but something worth considering. Also, the Zenbook Pro 16X is a heavy beast. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme isn't the lightest of laptops, but the ZenBook Pro 16X is a chunk. You could seriously bludgeon someone to death with it.

EDIT: my charger is a Satechi 100w PD USB C charger
The nipple comment always kills me 😂
Nice laptops and all, but the prices are not right imo. Especially in Germany, it almost looks like a money laundering operation.
hahahaha
But can it run Linux?
My favourite laptop
1:41 Some people still like to call it "NIPPLE" whereas others call it "NUB" , lmao 😂🤣
Matte glass would be better
yeah but at least for the screen you can just apply a film on top of it
wow upgradable ram , no vents at the right side . wifi card is soldered , but ok . it performs better than my pc
The build quality of Lenovo Thinkpad is getting worse, I don't recommend buying one.
If Lenovo wouldn't smoke so much crack and price their machines realistically, maybe they'd actually be a viable option but now? Their price/performance is even worse than Apple's during the butterfly keyboard years. I can get a good spec'ed Dell Precision 15 for ~2000, the Lenovo counterpart? 3k+
What took you so long I searched this video from 5 months, but you didn't review
I just got it in! lol
@@MatthewMoniz ok i get it
Straight forward review. Short and on point as we like it.
Thanks Rui!
The one u recommend much does it #cost
depends on where you live. There's links in the description if you live in Canada or the US.
@@MatthewMoniz Glasgow and as not working thanks pandemic I'll need to save bit longer
How is the fan noise?
I talk about it in the video
It can become quite noticeable when engaging intensive gaming or downloads
'The nipple still feels fantastic like the first day I touched it!'
- Mathew Moniz 2022
Lmao
Will this laptop's chassis finally be upgraded next year? It still looks good, but to compete with the XPs series, I feel there is still space for improvement in the looks department.
ya it could use a bit more refinement.
Damn nice laptop, massive price though, i like to buy top spec stuff but i think 4-5k for a laptop is pretty far stretched for a normal user. Ill stick with my T480 and T490 for now!
Just like the first day I touched it 😂.
We noticed bro 😂
HP Zbook Studio G9 ??
Solution is create the other one such as android phone etc,..
wow whata great video and advice thank you. still looking for that 4.5lb 16-17 inch gaming laptop with usb c gaming :D
"The nipple, - my mom comes in, it's it's exactly like how it was the first day I touched it
My next laptop will have top firing speakers like the ThinkPad. I've got an ASUS VivoBook S15 that's nice in every way EXCEPT the dumb down firing speakers.
You are better than Dav2D
"The nipple still feels fine, just like the day I touched it"
Good to see that Lenovo is still doing great job with a Thinkpad lineup for businesses.
6 hours of use. bro
No numpad 😢
Thanks
You're welcome!
Too expensive but screen and speakers R Great Job 😀👍
Regards from Europe from my channel 😀👍
OMG! 2900 USD... For what?!
"The nipple ... still feels fantastic, like the first day I've touched it"
Yes Matthew, yes it does.
3k business laptop with 5 hours battery life? Hilarious
Over 6 which is good considering the cpu and gpu that’s inside of it. Plus 4K display
heat, and fan noise even during easy tasks, bad quality
I'm really upset that the 2560 x 1600 screen option does not come with the carbon weave showing.
Wowowoww
Not bad.
notice: you can buy an used gaming laptop with can do 90% of this thinkpad can do with just 1/10 the price LOL
This is not a gaming laptop. This is a business laptop. If i want gaming I'll buy a PS5 not a laptop.
That thing 😊😊😊❤❤❤💪💪💪
Nice laptop
Would have liked to seen thermal comparisons to see how much the new vapor chamber design helps. The previous gen Extremes were struggle bus with cooling Intel+Nvidia monsters
I completely forgot to put the chart in the vide and I recorded the results. Remind me on Monday and I’ll post a link in the description
@@MatthewMoniz Just add a reminder lol
1:43 ROFL
Yeah, Lenovo- never. Sad day when the Thinkpad was turned over from IBM.
👍
1:42 hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
You look and sound like an American Colin Farrell
great
You’re great
6 hours of use. LOL
The uglier XPS 15.
