Something you missed: Lisa was alive when the whole town dissapeared because Alessa liked her, as she was her personal nurse in Alchemilla Hospital, but Lisa was being forced to work there because if not, Kauffman would stop providing drugs for her.
Minor correction should be made: Silent Hill 4 was always a Silent Hill game from the beginning, not a spinoff or spiritual successor. In fact, it began production roughly around the same time that Silent Hill 3 was being made. Because of this, the team was basically split between the two, which ultimately explains why SH3 came off as a shorter experience than the first 2 entries, and The Room lacking some of the polish that the other 3 had.
You guys failed to mentioned the links between SH2 and SH4 the room. Walter Sullivan was mentioned in sh2 in a randomly found news article. And the landlord in SH4 shared the same last name as the protagonist James in SH2.

Blame the team that was behind it because one of the reasons it wasn't finished was creative differences. Most likely more on Del Torro's part. Also blame Hideo Kojima, he owns the franchise but if another game has higher sales than Silent Hill had, than he drops the game he announced to come out. I wanna stand outside the Konami offices with an angry mob carrying torches, pitchforks and signs/posters about Silent Hill. Metal Gear Solid comes before Silent Hill. Never liked MGS. And this is one of the reasons why.
I don't like first person games either. Though I badly wanted another Silent Hill game. I could barely stand the first person in Resident Evil 7. 3rd person is always better. Somehow I just always liked actually seeing the player character on screen.
Silent hill 4 is my fav in the series for being so unique and difficult. The masochist in me loves it. The first 4 are all masterpieces in their own way. Would love for silent hill 1 to get the remake it deserves.
The protag is wooden and boring and the mechanics are meh but the overall feel and journey of the game is so cool. It ties in all the previous games together and the idea of delving into a serial killer's mind John Malkovich style is pretty neat.
Silent Hill 1 should be remade! Maybe it would resurrect the series and prompt Kojima to make more Silent Hill games. Since he's more interested in higher sales rather than giving fans what they want. If Silent Hill ever comes out with any more games, I'm buying them no matter what. One interesting fact is that James never introduced himself to Maria, which makes her first death -- and also some minor events -- even more dramatic. Players should be uncomfortable the first time she calls us. We only discover how she knows James after playing her scenario.

i think now is the time for a true remake of the first one. I really loved it but the graphic didnt really aged well, SH2-3-4 are still looking incredibly good.

Sad as it is, shutting down their game development sector was actually a pretty smart move for them. Remember, they're based in JAPAN, not the U.S. And in Japan, gambling is more popular than video games. They're making more money by turning their backs on the gaming industry and focusing on gambling machines, because gaming was only ever a small section of their company anyway. This is a scenario where the bad guy gets away with it. They spat on their fans and got REWARDED.

My favorite is three since it was my first and came with an awesome soundtrack. I’m not even sorry but I like 4 and Homecoming also, even if I don’t consider the last one cannon. They’re just fun to play. I love the atmosphere. 😍
I am disappointed i didnt hear the opening of SH. That guitar-like instrument always gives me the chills. Also SH1 is my favorite. That scared me as a kid. Couldnt play it at night

Every time I tell someone I love Stranger Things for the fact it was partially inspired by Silent Hill, they flip out in agony and get pissed because they want Stranger things to be seen as pure and original. It's ridiculous, but who tf cares? I enjoy knowing Silent hill inspires so much, even silent hill was inspired by other content and it's cool, not a bad thing...??
Stranger Things obviously draws a ton of its inspiration from pre-existing horror. There are dozens of references to other successful IPs, including Silent Hill. You can't tell me that someone who has played SH would miss the obviously SH mechanics of the Upside-Down.

Emperor of the Omniverse It was scary? Half of the game had no monsters and the other half was just repetitive chase sequences. I felt it was the most boring one.
1. actually any corpse you come by in sh2 is an edited version of james' character model. every single one not just the first. 2. angela's character model and voice were intentionally made to seem like an older adult woman to reflect how intensely her trauma has aged her. 3. pt mostly didn't work as a surprise sh teaser bc the loading icon was literally the halo of the sun (the red save point symbol) and anyone who's played a silent hill game all the way through caught it. i remember loading it up upon release at my buddy's house and we're both like "oh... is this is a silent hill game?" like right away at the title screen

@Sancho Ventura Agree on most points but I don't get how you can possibly say that SH4 has the "creepiest visuals". It's the one game in the series where all locations are well-lit (so much that there's no flashlight!) and the Otherworld stuff is pretty tame compared to the first three games, especially the rusty stuff in SH1 and 3.

I've always found all silent hills after "the room" to be very underwhelming that i just stopped nearly 10 years ago. I still get a kick out of returning to the first 4 games from time to time.
Intro track from the first SH. When I hear this guitar at beginning, a shiver ran through me. those soundtrack are creepy and awesome. The graetest Horror game I've ever played
P.T. loading icon was 3 circles. The picture on the wall is a tile from silent hill 3 with a dot in center. A missing section of the upstairs was meant to be in the Playable Teaser where Mary sleeps with a babys head missing an eye

Fact 24 about the music was really interesting.
3 is my favorite. I think it’d be sweet if Bluepoint Games (who sorta specialize in remasters and console ports) were hired to completely remaster the first 3 Silent Hills.

I don’t know if some one else mentioned it but in silent hill 2 they mention Walter Sullivan in a news article killing 2 children which end up as one of the monsters in the room (the twins)
Still can't decide if I prefer this one or SH2 but SH3 is certainly underappreciated. SH2 is far more relateable thanks to the different real world problems tormenting the characters, and I think that that's why people love it so much. But SH3 is fantastic in so many other ways - and it's possibly the best-looking game from that entire generation.
Silent hill two was grate loved playing it as a kid oh and did you forget to tell the nice people that there is a town out there in the USA (I forget were) that Silent Hill is based on. Oh and that most of the streets are named after famous horror writers.
I recall hearing something about Mary's corpse being in the back of James' car at the beginning of SH2. I think it was confirmed by the devs on Twitter, but I honestly have no recollection of how that theory got started or where I heard it so there's like a solid 30% chance I'm talking absolute nonsense, but hey. That's a thing
The voice actor for James, Guy Cihi, believes Mary's body is in the car. I don't remember if it's in the trunk or backseat though. I just know a bunch of fans completely flipped out because it's just that important to make that distinction, the backseat or trunk.
I wish you talked about Downpour 😞. My favorite series. I still have every game with all the boxes and manuals and i still have P.T. on my PS4 :D... Without P.T. their would not have been the Resident Evil 7 as we know in my opinion.

He designed Maria to be imperfect to give her more of a human and realistic quality, believing that humans love each other for their imperfections and that James might not be as attracted to her if she were perfect. She was originally designed to be sexier and is of course still a more attractive version of Mary, but her design was toned down to her final appearance.
Talked too a bit too fast for me because I'm hard of hearing but very entertaining and well arranged. I even enjoyed hearing what I already knew. I just wished for more specific details. Nobody talks about the butcher in Origins or how he or Travis may have become a precursor Pyramid Head. My favorites are 3,and Origins or zero as it's called in Japan, and especially the unfinished Silent Hills, PT, which I am fortunate to have. I think Lisa from there is the scariest monster of them all. I was mugged and thrown down stairs and lost my baby so I can relate, maybe that's why she scares me so much. I did successfully have two sons a few years after. I now have RSD which is a chronic pain disease so I play these to fight the pain.

Based on everything I've read on the internet from the writers and creators of the original Silent Hill, they seem to leave the endings to the players interpretation. Fpr instance, while both "Good" endings to the original are considered canon, the fate of Cybil is left to the players own interpretation. My interpretation is that she lives and raises Heather with Harry, however she dies before the events of Silent Hill 3. That's my interpretation. In other words, it's kind of like a "choose your own story" lind of thing which I definitely appreciate.
Ahhh Silent Hill. My best horror game. The atmosphere is creepy... and the background sound. Stories are great. Love the secret and easter egg the game had. Played SH2 and 3, never finished SH4 tho due to corrupted data.... I also love SH Homecoming. The combat differ and dodging. Tho just hope the monster doesnt include nurse or Pyramid head... was hoping they made new design cause the monster are originally made for James of SH2... the town is just the neighbour town of SilentHill and it just mean that the curse can spread to near area. Well not really curse, more like evil entity. As known most Silent Hill area and the surrounding near them are the ancient burial of Native American Indian massacre and the death of prisioner and all the bad stuff happening, causing the evil to form and the idea of creating new gods or entity. The bosses of Homecoming is great and have their own intepretation of its form. Not much on small monster... And also, I always love Silent Hill for multiple ending, and the UFO ending. For the movie, first one is great. 2nd movie is a bit trash... its almost like game while the first one have more real and story tho differ from game....

Pretty sure this will be an unpopular preference but my favorites are the first game, then origins, then silent hill 3. I loved the story of Alessa. That being said, silent hill 2 was great as well, just not my favorite. Downpour was just fun for me and I think it was highly underrated.

Stranger Things obviously draws a ton of its inspiration from pre-existing horror. There are dozens of references to other successful IPs, including Silent Hill. You can't tell me that someone who has played SH would miss the obviously SH mechanics of the Upside-Down.
The best part about that is that can you discover other art and media that inspired SH, like i discover Jacob's ladder after SH2

It would have been cool if you included the many horror references found in the original Silent Hill:
- The chainsaw shop "Cut-Rite Chain Saws" is taken From The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
- The florist "Mushnick's Florist" is taken from Little Shop of Horrors
- The newspapers in the news boxes around town read "Bill Skins Fifth" which was taken from The Silence of the Lambs
- Around walls/shutters throughout the town you may spot "REDRUM" which was taken from The Shining

1. actually any corpse you come by in sh2 is an edited version of james' character model. every single one not just the first.
2. angela's character model and voice were intentionally made to seem like an older adult woman to reflect how intensely her trauma has aged her.
3. pt mostly didn't work as a surprise sh teaser bc the loading icon was literally the halo of the sun (the red save point symbol) and anyone who's played a silent hill game all the way through caught it. i remember loading it up upon release at my buddy's house and we're both like "oh... is this is a silent hill game?" like right away at the title screen

@Sancho Ventura Agree on most points but I don't get how you can possibly say that SH4 has the "creepiest visuals". It's the one game in the series where all locations are well-lit (so much that there's no flashlight!) and the Otherworld stuff is pretty tame compared to the first three games, especially the rusty stuff in SH1 and 3.
+Sancho Ventura I wouldn't go so far as to say the post SH4 games are the worst things ever personally, but I do agree not a single one lives up to the Silent Hill legacy and have only help this franchise dip in quality over the years. I'd be unbelievably happy if somehow Team Silent could be reunited making a 5th entry, retconning Origins, Homecoming, Downpour and Book of Memories out of existence. A man could dream...
I've always found all silent hills after "the room" to be very underwhelming that i just stopped nearly 10 years ago.

Heard this same fact among others noi in the Did You Know gaming for Silent Hill series video and their separate video on history of Silent Hill and Konami. Other than that, cool video. I don’t know if some one else mentioned it but in silent hill 2 they mention Walter Sullivan in a news article killing 2 children which end up as one of the monsters in the room (the twins)
Silent Hill 3 is the best one in the series, its like the Resident Evil 4 of the franchise.
Still can't decide if I prefer this one or SH2 but SH3 is certainly underappreciated. SH2 is far more relateable thanks to the different real world problems tormenting the characters, and I think that that's why people love it so much. But SH3 is fantastic in so many other ways - and it's possibly the best-looking game from that entire generation.

Silent hill two was grate loved playing it as a kid oh and did you forget to tell the nice people that there is a town out there in the USA (I forget were) that Silent Hill is based on.
Oh and that most of the streets are named after famous horror writers.
I recall hearing something about Mary's corpse being in the back of James' car at the beginning of SH2. I think it was confirmed by the devs on Twitter, but I honestly have no recollection of how that theory got started or where I heard it so there's like a solid 30% chance I'm talking absolute nonsense, but hey. That's a thing
The voice actor for James, Guy Cihi, believes Mary's body is in the car. I don't remember if it's in the trunk or backseat though. I just know a bunch of fans completely flipped out because it's just that important to make that distinction, the backseat or trunk.

I wish you talked about Downpour 😞. My favorite series. I still have every game with all the boxes and manuals and i still have P.T. on my PS4 :D... Without P.T. their would not have been the Resident Evil 7 as we know in my opinion.

He designed Maria to be imperfect to give her more of a human and realistic quality, believing that humans love each other for their imperfections and that James might not be as attracted to her if she were perfect. She was originally designed to be sexier and is of course still a more attractive version of Mary, but her design was toned down to her final appearance.
Talked too a bit too fast for me because I'm hard of hearing but very entertaining and well arranged. I even enjoyed hearing what I already knew. I just wished for more specific details. Nobody talks about the butcher in Origins or how he or Travis may have become a precursor Pyramid Head. My favorites are 3,and Origins or zero as it's called in Japan, and especially the unfinished Silent Hills, PT, which I am fortunate to have. I think Lisa from there is the scariest monster of them all. I was mugged and thrown down stairs and lost my baby so I can relate, maybe that's why she scares me so much. I did successfully have two sons a few years after. I now have RSD which is a chronic pain disease so I play these to fight the pain.

Based on everything I've read on the internet from the writers and creators of the original Silent Hill, they seem to leave the endings to the players interpretation. Fpr instance, while both "Good" endings to the original are considered canon, the fate of Cybil is left to the players own interpretation. My interpretation is that she lives and raises Heather with Harry, however she dies before the events of Silent Hill 3. That's my interpretation. In other words, it's kind of like a "choose your own story" lind of thing which I definitely appreciate.
Ahhh Silent Hill. My best horror game. The atmosphere is creepy... and the background sound. Stories are great. Love the secret and easter egg the game had. Played SH2 and 3, never finished SH4 tho due to corrupted data.... I also love SH Homecoming. The combat differ and dodging. Tho just hope the monster doesnt include nurse or Pyramid head... was hoping they made new design cause the monster are originally made for James of SH2... the town is just the neighbour town of SilentHill and it just mean that the curse can spread to near area. Well not really curse, more like evil entity. As known most Silent Hill area and the surrounding near them are the ancient burial of Native American Indian massacre and the death of prisioner and all the bad stuff happening, causing the evil to form and the idea of creating new gods or entity. The bosses of Homecoming is great and have their own intepretation of its form. Not much on small monster...
And also, I always love Silent Hill for multiple ending, and the UFO ending.
For the movie, first one is great. 2nd movie is a bit trash... its almost like game while the first one have more real and story tho differ from game....
Pyramid head is just James' alter-ego tryin to guide us without the distraction of Maria, not a executioner of prisoners.

Pretty sure this will be an unpopular preference but my favorites are the first game, then origins, then silent hill 3. I loved the story of Alessa. That being said, silent hill 2 was great as well, just not my favorite. Downpour was just fun for me and I think it was highly underrated.
