    It's just about vowel mods. A, Ah, Oo. and Ee. The brightness is how you get mixed voice. Start lightly and build it. That's how I did it at first. Once you get the hang of vowel placements then you can go in and out of your registers. Yes it is vocal fry but with a bright tone added like your smiling in the cheeks with a lowered tongue placement.

      @@ramseyvoicestudio The most important thing that Ken really doesn't explain though is YAWNING before singing and getting that space. He explains support well but not that. I had a friend that told me that last secret. It creates the vacuum and expands your rib cage. My advice to people if you can't get support then don't sing. You will be stuck in your throat. Everyone that probably comes in your studio is probably using their throat. Am I right? I even see so many people on RUclips singing with their throat and I see those muscles clamp down. The freedom you get with great support is freaking amazing. Ken just says relax your neck. I'm like bro you got to show people how to yawn and engage your support. I'm sorry that I'm ranting but this is what's wrong with more than half of RUclips. Your body will physically move from your energy. Funny enough my opera teacher didn't even explain this! He said support support. I'm like WTF is support?! Now I know. And then when you get it you might fall back into your throat on accident sometimes but it happens. You just got to keep getting that space that's required.

    This is a good video, but I need to correct here: vocal fry is NOT the lowest vocal register. Actually, it is not a register at all. Vocal fry is your tissue vibrating when your vocal chords are very relaxed/or the tissue is very relaxed. This is why metal singers are also utilizing it in their higher register. So, with the right technique, you can make your tissue vibrate in every register and add vocal fry whenever you want. For most people it is just really difficult to add in the higher register, because it is difficult (for most people) to stay relaxed in higher registers (as also implied by you).

    (Your speaking voice is perfect open D note. ) Thank such much for sharing your knowledge..so far, tremendous...I am getting" My voice " back slowly but surely...I really need a vocal coach for more hands on the help me home in on my particular voice who can know exactly what's happening and how to adjust it immediately. To help me find my range, and what to stay away from , etc etc. (To be able to dial in the notes and chords that suit me to a "T" so I don't strain and can do 3-4 hours on stage without issue) and that won't charge me an arm and an ankle..How much wage is a high level vocal coach of the caliber I have mentioned to instruct me going to cost per...(that is fair) Thank you again.

    I have this weird tendency to have a fry-like distortion on my higher an louder notes. It also switches overtones when singing or sliding scales. Can't get rid of it either. Actually going to have a doc take a look at it somwhere in the coming months (long, long waiting times), but nobody's really been able to tell me from the way it sounds what it exactly is that I'm doing. (or how to get rid of it).

      @@ramseyvoicestudio Isn't vocal fry used to sing subharmonics? I think such bass singers as Geoff Castellucci or Tim Foust can reach some of 0-octave notes using subharmonic techniques even though they're not in their vocal range, but I'm not sure, you can check them out.

  • @MedicMuffin
    @MedicMuffin 2 года назад +7

    I have a question. Are subharmonics distinctly tied to vocal fry or is it an unrelated technique? I find that a lot of times when I want vocal fry I end up with subharmonics instead (e.g if I try to sing the scale at 7:30 I slip into the lower subharmonic octave rather than hitting the notes properly with vocal fry) and can't reliably use a proper vocal fry when I want it because it likes to do that instead.
