Nothing to beat a classy, full grain, veg tanned, front pocket, minimal leather wallet.
I am rocking a bespoke few, made from Horween Shell Cordovan.
Oooo, that sounds sick.
I was married with trayvax and Dango... Until Lost Dutchman. Pure leather is the way for me.
I'm the same way actually. Had a trayvax for years until I got an all leather Popov leather card holder. Leather is just too beautiful.
Yeah I think those look awesome. I personally am more a fan of kidex for everything possible. I can even match my sheath , holster and wallet. 😂. Really though, I love my armatuscarry wallets and sheaths.
I have a groovelife and an open seas leather wallet. I like having one metal and one leather.
@@michaelandrew8493 I thought about a metal one.. I like carrying bigger knives , a flashlight and pistol, so that weight goes up fast. I stopped carrying a spare mag, because it was 2 much. I have a edc bag that always on the car wherever I go. That makes it so I can at least have a multi tool and other edc items that I like to have bit could never carry on me.
@@THExDUDEx8624 yeah in your case I think a minimal leather wallet is perfect. I just ordered a lost Dutchman finiginn so I'm I'm looking forward to that. I still think leather wallets are the best.
We can positively recommend that second version too. Using that wallet for the last 5 years & it still rocking. Love the way all the cards comes out when trigger is pressed, also allowing you to carry extra cards & some cash. Cowabunga mate.!
I don't know if that counts as a rigid wallet since it's made of leather and not very rigid, but DAX Leather has a very simple and comfortable mechanism for presenting, hiding and securing up to I think 6 cards plus small outside pocket.
That's a cool wallet. But for me, I like the Xband minimalist. It also keeps cash, if I carry any, and my Jotter.
I have carried the Trayvax Armored Summit bundle for the last 6 or 7 years with 8 cards in it. The obvious but really not impactful shortcoming of that wallet is the fact that when you remove a card, everything else is loose. It sounds worse than it is in real life, I simply don't access my cards when I am in some precarious position. On the plus side, the Summit adds possibly the least amount dimensionally to the cards (and the bottle opener works very well using the card stack as a handle)
Old school leather wallet, all day, everyday… I just don’t get these hard wallets.
A solar panel for something that stays in your pocket is a bit of a reach
It only needs like 1 hour in the sun for like 3 weeks of charge.
Might pick up one of those trackers
I got a leather front pocket wallet. The soft flexibility is hard to beat. I do sometimes struggle with cash.
A few years back i had a problem with cards interfering with the magnetism of each other when stacked on atop one another. It might have been a me thing or a movement of card thing but having a card fail because of my wallet is inexcusable
I absolutely have to reccomend secrid mini wallet. Its like the ekster senate with the fold out bit.but i think they packed it thinner while being better at accomodating cash. Also the trigger feels much better .
Cool video.
I gotta stay with secrid as they were around before Ekster and although I don’t dislike ekster, I do kinda think they like to steel ideas lol. Secrid slaps and I’ve been using the same one since 2014, not one problem since then and it’s been through hell. Multiple drops and car accidents, and go cart mishaps, yet functionally perfect. I may upgrade soon, but I’ll go with secrid, definitely at least get a new one even if I want to try something else. I should add that secrid sells the cardholder by itself and that’s all they had when I got it. I gotta stick with the ogs. I did have a cascade wallet before that which was thicker and had a lot that popped open when activated, but I’m pretty sure it was a failed kickstarter and it was not as good as my secrid
I just carry too much in my wallet to want to try out a ridgid wallet. One of the things I carry is blank business cards in place of a notebook.
Love mine
I put the card I use to get into work in the back of my phone case lol. I've never forgotten my access card ever since I started that trick.
As far as wallets go the allet wallet is my favorite
As I look on the Ekster website, there seems to be a lot of repeated products with only minor differences but yet the price changes between $10-15. That being said, what is the wallet you are recommending? What are the differences between the “quick access cardholder”, “senate cardholder”, and “aluminum cardholder”?
Thanks for the info!
Would be cool if they had their key tracker with their cash clip built in and the wallet with the tracker built in to save those few mm
Flipside wallet. Get one.
I use a secrid rigid wallet. I will never go back to soft wallets. It is slim, tiny, and I am not in danger of cracking any cards. It holds 8 cards, which is enough for daily carry.
My fiancée got me the ridge wallet in titanium. I definitely think it’s over priced but it’s not too bad. Been carrying it for 2 weeks now. Seems okay. I’m used to carrying the travx summit. Hated how it loosens up.
So far my only complaint about the ridge is I can’t get the cards to fan our well
This one is much more fun and enjoyable, I tried another similar design to the ridge..don't like it.
FYI it does not appear this works with Find My, not all Chipolo devices do, the ones that do are the Spot line and cost a bit more.
Ahhh
I will stick with a leather billfold. I still carry too much stuff to go "minimalist"...LOL
Aviaton Wallets are a not well known but is absolutely the best!!!
For the trackers: chipolo supports two different versions. One similar to Airtag and Apple only. And the other using their own app and protocol.
Which one do these use?
I am actually not sure..
Do you carry your wallet in the front or back pocket? I haven’t tried solid wallets because it doesn’t sound very comfortable to sit on compared to leather, which gives some padding.
Usually front pocket..only thing I keep in back pocket is a notebook
I don't carry ridged wallets well because they're ridged! I don't want to sit on something hard all day.
Do the cards come loose and fall out of the wallet if you do not have the maximum amount of cards inside? Ex if you only have 3 cards of 6 or 7 capacity.
Cut it in half..definitely a little easier but still very hard to dislodge.
Iv always just used Rapala fishing net magnets for my keys. something has to pull 14lbs to take my keys. But then your belt often has a hard time resisting that force unless you wear a reinforced one. Tho Im fearing for my watches in the longrun.. still looking at key solutions.
I don't think Nite ize is beatable for the cost..the G clip is lit.
@@maxlvledc Thanks for the mention! I'll certainly have a look then.
@@rorymcclellan3740 I have been carrying one for several months now. They are so nice.
Try the inventor of rigid wallets secrid
They seal a cheap version of this called concealplus and it’s great
Yeah just got one for $17
This may need to be double checked,
But if you have two or more cards tightly together, there is no need for RFID protection.
Their RFID signatures interfere with one another, making it impossible to read either of them.
I had tried using my card through a wallet, and it wasn't working when it had transport or other bank card in same pocket.
As I said, it's better to double check that.
There are readers that can read several cards at once. Some subway lines in Europe have them on gates, you can place an entire wallet on the reader and it will pick ticket card.
Will you be comparing wallet tracker cards like the innway and the wirless rechargeable safedome?
I don't have a way of doing that really.
@@maxlvledc I guess it would just be having multiple trackers with you for a long period to test their longevity or , trying them out to compare how loud they are and comparing them and if they hold up to their advertised claims . Btw just purchased the aluminum wallet , key tracker and the tracker card with your code , thank you.
@@maxlvledc I have a friend whose ekster card stopped working after 8 months he is currently diagnosing it , I am personally interested in the ekster vs safedome since all the other tracker cards can’t be recharged or have proprietary charging cables . I like that the ekster key tracker uses a more common replaceable battery.
I was gonna replace my wallet with a chums wallet and still might and just give the ekster wallet as a present but between your review of both how slim it is and it’s card retention along with the site claiming it can hold upto 15 cards (I carry 12 and cash ) I may well test run it to see if i want it myself .
@@maxlvledc I didn’t think I’d get an rfid blocking wallet since a wallet tracker is interesting and was concerned about the signal being blocked but didn’t even register your use of strapping it to the outside (the tracker was also intended as a present for my brother in law whom often misplaces their wallet ). Was very iffy on making any purchases from ekster until your review , both because of the review itself but also noticed the discount on their site and also having watched several of your videos I find your thoughts and decisions to be reasonable and agreeable.
@@maxlvledc is the compass on your g shock a suunto ? I have a suunto clipper but it doesn’t fit fully on my G-SHOCK and seems like there’s so much tension on it that I’m concerned it’ll slip off or break , any advice ? ( I was considering conjoining them via a ranger band on the g shock band and the clip attaches to the ranger band
Secrid still reigns in this space.
I used trayvax for years and years
Only recently did I convert to the STOW and eventually the XSTO
How much is everything?
Honestly..I purposefully didn't look. Didn't want it to effect how I felt about it.
The Ridge wallet works really well up to 20 cards, and maintains the slim profile. I got mine while they were starting up in Kickstarter and carried it until now. That's what? Close to 10 years or more?
Not a fan of side loader wallets like that, that's my biggest gripe.
@@maxlvledc ah gotcha, that's understandable.
I really wanna love the elevator style wallets but, the one I tried, the cards would shake out if you shook the wallet. No bueno to me.
This one...they did something..no issue at all, even when I take out half the cards.
This might be reaching, but does anyone know a good, thin women's wallet? Looking to slim down my purse without switching to something with such a small footprint that I lose the benefits of a larger wallet entirely.
You could look at Big Skinny wallets or Flowfold wallets if you want USA made.
The Getsetgear Bruce is very very flat for a wallet that can easily fit 10-12 cards and cash.
I was actually looking for something similar for wife the other week. Holtz leather makes a wallet "insert." It's essentially an open face wallet that takes up almost no space.
@@dallasn16 That's it. That's the exact idea I need for my bag. I usually treat my current wallet this way anyway by simply wedging my card into it without releasing the clasp, and I'm glad a product exists that leans into that sort of interaction. I do wonder if anyone makes one that isn't so pricey, though. I'm willing to pay for quality, sure, but fifty bucks (ignoring the current sale) is a lot for so little material, and I don't really *need* it to be leather. I'll shop around, although I very well might come back to the Holtz one if nothing else impresses me.
I'm really shocked how many cards people actually carry, I have my ID, Debit card, health insurance card, HSA card, and emergency credit card. only 5 cards, I don't see how people have 12+ cards.
If they can already put your credit card on your phone with tap and pay, I imagine they will someday be able to have our passports and other IDs someone be on our phones.
Did you get the wallet for free?
It was sent to me by their rep to check out, yes.
@@maxlvledc Appreciate you're honesty just purchased a blue one!
please stop doing premieres on short videos
Lol
This is a 16 min video, anything over 2 min I do premiere to let ppl know. It works for me.
thank you for the reply, just found you. Enjoying your content.
I find the premiere feature really helpful as RUclips can't reliably make things pop up in my feed 👍
How minimalist wallets became popular in the edc community remains a mystery to me. If anything our wallets should have gotten bigger , to hold more gear - like our keychains.
I do find it's a good idea to carry a minimalist wallet when carrying a traditional wallet is too cumbersome. Like when I go on my walks.
Cooo
What happens if your cards get stucked inside?
You could definitely pry them out
My wallet is the pelican case wallet.
