Oh this is soo good. Thank you Mr. Rogge for sharing. I see those farmer ladies did not like you filming them. LOL! Your films are better than any 60 second TV documentary. I wasn't even born yet, but I still have family in HK and I remember they were mentioning that old New Territories use to be a farming community. and now I got a vision of how things use to be. Thank you again Mr. Rogge. May you have many more years of health and happiness to you and your family.....
Thanks. the Museum of Hong Kong (as well as the HK Govt. Film Archive and a number of institutions) has DVD's of some of my films and photos as well. I'm a Dutchman and live in Amsterdam.
even in Hong Kong,it's very hard to find such historial video. Thanks for your kindly share.May these video helps more people to recongnise real Hong Kong life.
Hi,Mr rogue, thank you very much you have capture a lot of very precise old HK video for us ,it helps me to remember many old memories about Hk.l almost watch all of your video. At that time,l live in the New territories , near Fan Ling golf club.At that time the village lady usually is very conservative , won't let someone else capture her picture , but you did it , just wonderful!
Oh I'm now living in the New Territorries. Those walls still exist in Kam Tin. Yet the New Territorries is not as placid as it was in the video. Most plain and fish ponds had transformed into new towns. But those tombs are still common on the hills.
Mr.MichaelRogge.Thanks so much.I always enjoy your videos,You are more like Mr.Walking-Library,all these films/videos have proven that you personally have more details than Museum of Hong Kong,I believe they should contact you, shouldn't they ? By the way Sir,are you from the U.S. ?
Alas, this film was taken by my friend Cees André de la Porte who visited a convention of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1962. He died in 1994, so cannot ask anymore.
Great film again. The tomb at 2.38 has a carving saying the deceased died on Jan 15, 1961. the tomb looks very new then. The film was probably shot not long after.
Hi I've just finished a trip to HK and it's hard to imagine any kind of crop cultivation. I guess this was up by the Chinese boarder - a place to explore next time.
There should be the place called "Shan Liu" ,near Sai Kung Town where is around 250M high The sharp hill far away is High Junk Peak, near Clear Water Bay At 3'21" ,the background is Ma On Shan,so 95% is "Shan Liu" or near around. (my English is not good, hope you can understand :p)
4:22 part doesn't look like a video from 1962, should be much earlier, the main runway part was yet to undergo reclamation so should be around 1957, 58?
Thanks for sharing... I lived in Sek Kong 1958. Son of a soldier. Happy memories. These films should be in a national archive.
Thank you Mr. Roggge for the Best video sharing. In Video 03:56, I still can find the building up to now.

Thx, I grew up in the NT in those times. How nastalgic it is to see the familiar scenes again. Was'nt the sky and distant mountains always so clear?
Your video is great! I was not yet born when you shot the video.

@dawnnadir. Kodachrome colour film was introduced before WW2. Video didn´t exist at the time. This clip is from a digitalised 16mm Kodachrome film.

at 4:00, that's the old Shatin Height Hotel, where I am leaving this comment at
IF thats Shatin Height that I sometimes went for afternoon tea in weekends. They had a music band for people who liked dancing.
@outdevo . The Hk History Museum and the Hk Govt Film Archive have. I haven't heard of an heritage Museum.
Its in Shatin.
