I live round the corner from this chippy and I have never been in as there is a cheaper better one a little further down the road called the little fisherman, its a tiny hole in the wall place but its the nicest tastiest fish n chip shop in the world, plus its excellent value for money. murgatroids is very very expensive especially if you sit inside the restaurant part.. sending you greetings blessings and love from the uk to Hawaii my friend hope you are experiencing good weather cos its pissing down here again and its bleeding freezing x much love Jase xx

It's absolutely mind blowing to see that large of a portion of fish served at an eatery. In the US that size piece of fish would make up three orders. It's a quantity sized serving that this guy portrays so well. Dude I am so jealous. The Yorkshire folk who patronize on that place for that dish are living nirvana. Probably should preferancd this by saying where you're at in the US. That's pretty normal where I'm at in NC. The US is just like everywhere else, there are good and bad restaurants. If you're a thousand miles away from coastline, don't expect good seafood.
Lots of memories here - I studied at Leeds College of Music 2008-11 and regularly visited my Grandad and Uncle who took me here every time! They’d grab the early bird senior citizen’s and I’d get the Big Un (mushy peas and a cuppa) - great vid, thanks for getting those memories flooding back! Murgatroyds are THE BEST!!! Billy Murgs special unbelievably good. We come from York and visit often. We rate all fish and chips by Murgatroyds standards, staff are lovely and well organised takeaway during these restricted times, cannot wait for the restaurant to open in May. We have been customers for over 15 years and have never been disappointed always same high standard. Honestly if you’ve never been, GO!
Everywhere in North America I have been the fish is small and you order in the number of pieces. Means more batter and less fish. Back in 76 ordered fish and chips in LA and got fried fish and crisps ;)

I took a Canadian friend here years ago i was looking for harry ramsdens at the time but could not remeber where it was at the time, so we ended up here she loved the place and was asking guy behind counter lots of questions as a que was building behind us lol. Can't beat fish and chips with mushy peas and for me always have to get scraps or as some people call them fish bits, watching theses videos making me want something nice

You would rarely get a portion that size restaurants in UK. Large cod fillets can be bought in many fish and chip shops.
I'm from Yorkshire and that size of fish is standard for most fish and chips shops!

I took a Canadian friend here years ago i was looking for harry ramsdens at the time but could not remeber where it was at the time, so we ended up here she loved the place and was asking guy behind counter lots of questions as a que was building behind us lol. Can't beat fish and chips with mushy peas and for me always have to get scraps or as some people call them fish bits, watching theses videos making me want something nice
