    Thank you, this is really helpful and I was able to make one just while watching. Norman, you are always such a great teacher - even telling us variations, the best sort of yarn and what needles will make it easiest. I appreciate your help.

    Excellent instructions Norman, the only video which talks about DPN's for icord, that I have seen. I was making a complete mess of it with single points..thank you so much!!

    There are so many tutorials out there for this but I suppose it’s who’s teaching it.
    Your tutorials are exceptional I caught on as I was watching. I taught myself knitting and crocheting at the age of 7 but never learned the I cord pattern and after all this time I’ve learned.
    Thank You Norman your videos are superb 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🌹

    HUGE Thank you, Norman! I always love your tutorials and this one does a terrific job at clearly guiding me through the steps. I LOVE the results and really appreciate your extra technique tips that you shared, e.g. spiral, purl. Will definitely keep this one handy in my knitting reference library to visit often. Thanks again!

    What a cool technique! One of my "when I get around to it" projects I had planned is one of those winter hats with long tassel tails coming off the ear flaps and never loved the look of just a skinny braid for the tails like the pattern calls for, definitely keeping this in my back pocket for when I get around to that!

    Norman, thank you for this instructive video. Adored the explanation of EZ’s origin of the I-cord name. Question…how do you bind off? Catherine

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  2 года назад +3

      well, quite easy, just pull the tail through all stitches using a tapestry needle, sew over once, and then hide the tail on the inside of the icord :)

    Hi Norman ! I haven't commented for awhile~I took a break from knitting,I was getting burned out and needed a break. Kinda like "writers block" only with yarn and needles instead of paper and pen lol😂
    Anyway,I'm a bit confused about the spiral cord. If you only cast on 3 stitches,how do you knit 3 Purl 1 ? That would require casting on 4 stitches,right~?
    Thanks in advance,it's always a joy to watch one of your tutorials~!!

      no..you stick to the repeat but a repeat is not limited by one row. Essentially this means, you move the purl stitch one stitch forward every row/round.
      Strickly speaking, a repeat is never limited by a row or round.

    Norman! Thank you so much for your easy to follow tutorial!!! Quick question for you! I started making my 1st I cord with 4 loops. When I start my “new row”, mine looks too loose.. am I doing something wrong? Or is it usual???
    Thank you 😊😊

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  2 года назад +2

      difficult to say, really. A bit of looseness is normal. Tuck at the tail after every couple of rows and things should even out. But...wel..other than that you might need to knit a bit tighter. But I cannot say that for sure without seeing you knit ;-)

    How do you end it?

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  5 месяцев назад

      Just pull the tail through the last 3 or 4 remaining stitches. It will form a knot

    Can you please explain how to knit 3 and puri 1 on 3 stitches many thanks

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  2 года назад +1

      Eh? I thought I did. You rotate them around. Ofc, every tow only has 3 stitches

      @@NimbleNeedles I had the same question. No you did not explain it in the video. Your videos always go that extra mile. I haven’t seen any other video that had variations on I cords.

    • @CraftyVegan

      It’s like an off-count. Instead of thinking in your head “ 1, 2, 3” it’s more like “1, 2, 3, purl, 1, 2, 3, purl” and matching that. Each time you get to the purl, it’ll be in a different position in your row of 3, but it will still be the “4th” stitch (likewise if you’re doing a 4 stitch i cord, the count would be 1, 2, 3, 4, purl)
      Like having a ruler that’s a little too short so you reposition and continue the measurements from where you last measured, or a toddler running out of fingers and toes to count to 21 and starting with the first index finger. If I can, I’ll try to get a video of it uploaded… if anyone still wants to see it anyways 🤷‍♀️
