I did this instinctively when a 2 year old amstaff/pitbull latched onto the face of a 1 year old same breed, I had a bad conscience about that and thought I did something wrong for 10 years until I learned about this. Thank you for sharing information like this.
Left my dog Hennessy in a friends backyard while we went out somewhere. When I got back she had her tail tucked, and went to her time out spot. I saw she dug through one of the recycling bins and tore up an aluminum turkey tray. While i was scolding her, (she was laying on her left side) and i was holding the chewed up tray to her nose saying "no, bad dog"... My friends alpha female pitbull 'angel" rushed over so fast she knocked me over, picked up Hennessy by hennies right shoulder and began to shake Hennessy. I punted Angel in the diaphragm like she was a football. It knocked the wind out of her and she dropped Hennessy. Thinking now about it, Angel might have bit my face had I attempted to choke her out. I didn't even think about choking Angel I just reacted with my foot. Three of four weeks later im walking Hennessy to the emergency vet for her checkup visit. She wanted to stop at the park and chase squirrels so I let her for a bit. But come time to go to the appointment Hennessy didn't want to leave the park. At the edge of the park she sat down and would not come. I practically had to drag her by her leash. (She had harness, not collar).. She had never acted this way in defiance of me. It made me mad so im yelling at her because at this point we're going to be late for the appointment. A dragged her about a block before i said fuck it and picked her up to carry her to the vet. When I picked her up I noticed a mini van was right behind me, following at my pace. I probably flipped them off. And headed for a canal trail that was a shortcut to the vet. Once I got off the trail back onto the streets, i stopped in the shade of the BART train tracks, so I could let Hennessy drink some water from my camelbak. I was giving her water when I was stopped by a male police. He asked what i was doing. I said "im taking my dog to the vet hospital, but for some reason shes not wanting to go. Do you think you can give me a courtesy ride the rest of the way"? He said yes, had Hennessy in the back of his car, was putting my bike in his truck, when his backup pulled up. A female K9 unit. She saw the bite mark on Hennessy and said "he's been dog fighting this animal" ... Then she berated me for not having "provisions" for my dog. Accusing me of starving my dog. I only fed Hennessy neutra ultra, she had a five gallon gravity container full of food at the house I had just left. There's days I went hungry because I spend the only money or food stamps I had on dog food. there was never a day her Hennessys life she didn't have food and water. I was in the act of giving Hennessy water when i got stopped. I tried explaining that to her but she told me to shut up as she cuffed me and arrested me for animal cruelty. She said "a dog cant suck on a CamelBak, you got water for yourself but nothing for her" Stupid bitch. I would squeeze my pack, and squeeze the mouthpiece. And Hennessy would drink just like from a garden hose. Hennessy spent the next year locked in solitary confinement isolated away from other animals and humans. They would not release my dog. They said she's being held as evidence. My sister was the last to see her. She said after a year in a cage it wasn't the same dog. She was growling and mean towards everyone who walked by. My stepdad's dog was never allowed in my mom's house. Hennessy was such a sweetheart my mom became a dog lover when she met Hennessy. Hennessy was the first dog allowed inside my moms house. What that Concord K9 cop, and the coco county sheriff did to Hennessy was cruelty. They kidnapped a member of my family and held her in a cage for a year until she became bitter and aggressive. When they finally said i could come get her. It was like a 45$k bill to get her out. It was in the police report when i learned why Henny didn't wanna leave the park grass. While chasing squirrels in the park she wore her paws raw and didn't want to walk on cement. I was so mad at myself I didn't realize that in the moment. But I was too concerned about not being late for the appointment. I never saw Hennessy again after i was arrested. I didn't even get to say goodbye to the dog that saved my life a couple months prior.
My God, that's terrible! I'm sorry you had to go through that. I think people let the cops off the hook on a lot of stuff because we are grateful for their protection, but this has just let them to believe that they are Gods and can do no wrong. That cops sure had a lot of faith in her self. No need to listen to anybody or anything. Your not the only one. You are now part of a very very large club that's only getting bigger. The club of those who get abuse by the police, for no discernible reason. I"m really sorry to hear all that. You lost a family member. I"m sorry for your loss.
Thank you needed this. After I was alone with my black lab and my brothers boxer who fought for 6 minutes while I was tackling both . No collars. No leash but I had other options. Just wish I seen this before
My two beautiful girls had a fight while I was driving i had to stop in the rosd and my dad and me tried to stop them fighting we managed to separate them with a screwdriver and my dad had his fingers in the mouth of one luckily we went to injured and even though ive had dogs for 30 years I really didn't know this trick both dogs wear leather chokers permanently now and they are both looking very sorry for themselves i can't understand why it happened they have been together for nearly 2 years with no problems one is only still in the puppy / adolescent stage im so grateful for your video thank you
@@jacquelineedler630 on the way there to a grip it can happen. I prefer a leach if it's avaliable. It's long so little risk. You pull the leach through the handle and can then adjust it and tighten it.

The whole point of the video is to show you how to unclamp a dogs jaw in a bad situation. Something tells me if he's locked onto something, then he's not trying to bite anything else.
This video was really needed. So many people have no idea . Thank you. Especially like all the ways you demonstrated too!
Thank you
The way you demonstrated helps me remember/recall this important advice. Thank you kindly sir.

Works on mother in laws too.
Sh sh don't tell
Nope...I've tried
Are you sure? Asking for a friend

That's terrible. Have you thought about suing them? Of course, that'd cost more money. Or maybe sharing it with the local news? That really burns me.
So heartbreaking even I'm shedding a tear thinking of your precious dog treated like that by the police and you never saw her again 😢😢

Good video. Great advice. Hope I never have to use it but mentally stored.
what are we supposed to do again?
Choke the chicken, i believe he said..
They said to adopt two ChowChows that have had a rough life and desperately need a new start. And film it. ✌😬
He said Air Supply…I’m all out of love!!!

Perfect, concise.
Love the vid by the way 👍
Thank you!
Prob best method here
Excellent!
Great 👍🌹
What if it’s two big dogs in a mutual fight and you can’t get a hold of either one?
This is only if they're in a hold, biting and not letting go I believe. method they're snapping and leaping around, this is not the best method.
Very interesting
Period 😂
I did this and the other dog bit me
Using a belt, shirt, or rope is better than using arms, hands, or legs.
!!!!!!!!
Con un de tornillado en la cotilla del perro k no quiere solta un pullonsito bacano i tiene k solta por que no es de piesdra
I would not recommend putting the arm round them like that. You are likely to be bitten.
If you’re bitten then what you are doing is not choking the dog.

Yes everyone who owns a dog should know this picking up the back legs might stop the fight but it will get you bit.
Terrible advice. You obviously have never broken up a vicious dog fight. Please don't take this guys advice. You will end being bitten or attacked.
😂 and your expert advice is to do what exactly?
So many people don't know about this, including myself. Thank you so much!!! 😮🫣😉👍
