The Immune System: Innate Defenses and Adaptive Defenses
HTML-код

- There are so many critters out there, bacteria and viruses that want to wreak havoc in our bodies. How do we defend ourselves against such tiny threats? The immune system! This is quite possibly the most profoundly remarkable aspect of the human body. It almost defies comprehension, the resourcefulness and efficiency of this system. An in-depth analysis will require an entire separate immunology course which will come in the future, let's just get our feet wet for the moment!

thank you for speaking clearly and slowly. It gives me time to process the info on the screen.
I usually go 1.25x
@@azca. for non-English speaking like me it’s hard or not easy to process that much of info in such a short period so i had to use 0.75 😅
this guy is the best science communicator I've come across. all of the info is accurate and concise- makes studying and clarifying concepts so much easier
I am a nursing student and your videos are saving me :) I understand much better now. thank you for contributing and spreading education free for all.
My age might exceed the ages of some of your viewers, but I still find these videos to be interesting; I enjoy learning about most things and often listen to these videos while performing other tasks.
It never ceases to amaze me how complex this collaborating community of cells, we've inherited through birth, is.
Thank you for sharing this information.
God is great
I cannot believe that you were providing this information completely free of charge… This is gold… I do not believe in conventional education… That is to say, I do not believe in going to a classroom to learn about things… We homeschool our children and that’s the way it’s going to be… This is great schooling right at home
Professor Dave rocks, every time I listen to your lessons I’m always intellectually full filled.
Super interesting! Thank you, Professor!
Used this video as a refresher before taking the MCAT. Such a great gem! Thank you!!
Wish me luck!
hope ur mcat went well!! mine is in 2 weeks!!
@@NightmereXLover hope yours went well too. My final is in 2 days!!
Hope yours will go well !!
Your explanation is amazing Mr Dave. I really love it....i was not able to understand this , now i can understand it.
49 coronavirus particles disliked this video.
They wouldn't be coronavirus particles.. they're just a virus called coronavirus... a virus is not a particle. It may contain RNA or DNA and it can infect body cells
I’m the 49 th one to like that comment,,, after three years😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Thank you, Professor Dave. These videos are very helpful for my revision.
Thank you Professor dave. Your videos really help me in my studies
THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
PROFESSOR DAVE EXPLAINS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, prof. Dave, this vid saved my butt on exams, your digestive tract vid saved the butt of a pal of mine!

Awesome tutorial, thank you very much Sir.
Excellent and detailed video - thank you!
Clear narration and diagrams.
Explained very well! Thank you.
Thank you for this immunity primer
I love your videos but it's been a few years since I had to watch your videos but now I have to redo a module from 2 years back and I just got like PTSD flashbacks when your song came up. Remembering me like completely sleep-deprived desperately trying to use your videos to save my ass before a test (and it helped soooo much)!! Now a few years later I can't even sleep less than 6 hours, nevermind pulling allnighters for almost 2 days D: I just want to be done with Uni omw
Thanks professor...love from india....respected gurudev ( teacher )
hi Professor Dave, would you publish a video on how you do your videos? this is a new area for me and I have been strugling with the learning curve on how to do it - yours are well done ! congratulations!!

Macroscopic beings! I love it.

Thank you, I don't know why our doctor makes the lesson hard by his explanation there's many explanation he had give to us , you know what he said to us you all your level is bad and do you think your questions in test will be easy? It will not be easy like a Quizz I don't know why he doing that he is doctor no need to speak with us in this bad why . And one day I went out of lecture to washing my hand but I didn't late actually at end of lecture when he wan taking attendance he said Tabarak you late I will register you as a late next time if you late I will put you absent!!!are you serious man what any way I was feeling by embarrassing 😔he embarrassed me in front of all students and couldn't say any words

Awesome
Professor Dave PLEASE PLEASE do a small series on the science behind popular superheros
it would be about ten seconds long! superhero movies are super unscientific.
@@ProfessorDaveExplains I might not have been clear lol. Of course superheroes are unscientific. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of 'what if' type thing. I constantly try to explain why The Flash is one of, if not the most powerful superheroes out there. Sure there are other videos doing breakdowns of all sorts of things, but I just love how you took down the flat earthers. It was simple. It was funny. It was amazing. Best thing I've seen in a long time. I went and watched more of your videos in different categories and loved every single one of them.
I can understand why you wouldn't necessarily want to do videos about superheros seeing as how all of your other as based solely within reality. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I've enjoyed them. I really appreciate you replying to my previous comment. That's class act right there!
I feel like interferons must be included in this video as well, Prof Dave? Or maybe it would take more time in the video.
Interferons would be an obvious link between innate and adaptive immunity as type 1 works innately but through this process they program an active immune response. Correct me if I’m wrong.
@@naturefix290 .how to increase interfron or activate or make it work faster .any food intake
Interferon is a type of cytokine. It was mentioned but not elaborated.
I like when people say apoptosis it’s a fun word
U the best sirr
The immune system is incredibly complex. Glad I didn't have to study this in school.
Where can I get the powerpoint file?
there is no PPT i make videos
I'm surprised you didn't take the opportunity to make a sidenote on Allergies and Autoimmune disorders.
👍 nice
I love this! Question: how do infections work for illnesses that get worse upon reinfection? Examples include Coronavirus and Dengue Fever?
My best guess is the immune system is more responsive so it does more damage to itself, since these are diseases that do the most damage because of the immune system. Not an expert and this is just a hypothesis
@@bigbeans202 I know that the most damage in Spanish Flu was caused by a cytokine storm from the immune system. That's what killed people, not the virus.
It is not the sara covid 2 that causes and increase in illness. It some how affects or inhibits t h2 lymphocytes and interferon allow opportunistic bacterial pneumonia to proliferate in aveoli cells and cause severe inflamatuon. The pneumonia is what kills people not SARS.
brief but comprehensive
Visit my immunology playlist for way more detail!
0:16 + fungi and parasites (and more)
Thanks very good afford
Tbh I’ve been watching your videos to debunk people who still believe in terrain theory , may not be the best motivation to learn science, but eh.
hello sir.. your video is really nice.. i was having very low immunity.. and use to have recurrent respiratory infection.. and was really afraid about my condition.. then i tried using planet ayurveda medication and now my condition is really fine.. no recurrent infection
Hello, the explanation is very cool, can you put an Arabic translation?
I'm sure that he would welcome one if you supplied it.
plant immune system please
Some chemical causes diseases but not pathogen why
When are you going to come out with a vaccine video?
It'll be part of my upcoming immunology series!
@@ProfessorDaveExplains nice. I look forward to it. I personally have been trying to fight for these in court against a flat earth, anti vaxxer as my ex. So its been quite a doozy trying to get my son these important defenses through the legal system. Thanks again for all the info man. Keep it coming. And keep destroying those fake scientists too. I can't get enough of the debates and debunks.
Sorry, Dave, but you forgot to put "some" in front of bacteria/viruses
Hm?
Didnt anyone notice how his hair grew from the start of the video to the end...
thank u jesus
I thought acidity in the body was bad for you
Depends on the part of the body. The stomach is very acidic.

People with AIDS: what is a immune system i have none.
LOLLLLL
Hi
coronavirus
30 minutes to big time phd exam
@Nad Senoj clinched the A by one question!!!!
🙃🙃🙃
Way too much info, way too fast. Information overload. Would be better to break up the immune defenses and discuss slowly and repeat the info rather than throwing everything in all at once.
This was shallow and entry level, check my immunology playlist for way more depth at an appropriate pace.
Too distracted by the haircut. Grow it back and do this video again. :) :D
Phagocytes!!! That sounds like an offensive term. Nowadays shouldn’t you say LGBTQAAIP-ocytes?! 😉
No. Ur stupid
Great video. Thank u
Thank you so much prof. i will repay by subscibing to your channel
❤❤
Thank you so much 💗💗
