funny you should say that about the Matt Damon and the structure of him being "the new kid" they actually talked about that in the dvd commentary i remember lol so you are correct! also this is technically a remake, the original is from 1959 starring The Rat Pack (Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, etc.) so your observation of the old hollywood throwback is quite spot on LOL. proud of you bud.
In a film class in highschool i picked soderbergh as my director for a project and used the scene “Mr Gellar” breaks down the 3 previous robbery attempts and that elevator door transition. Probably still my fave school project.
27:17 This scene was improvised. The batteries in the “trigger” actually were dead. They only powered the lights on the trigger but when they didn’t light up, Clooney and Damon improvised and the added it in. The crew gave Damon the replacement batteries and they added it to the scene.
Nobody thought that this "Rat Pack" classic would be revamped into a franchise. I saw the 1960's original before the remake came out. Also it re-established the 'Heist Comedy' that the original had first introduced. Great cast. One of the best ensembles ever. They all had such a good time working together. Going by the 'behind the scenes' footage and interviews. The most recent installment was the spinoff, Ocean's 8 (2018) and it was unexpectedly good. But definitely work your way through Ocean's 12 & 13. RIP to the legends, Bernie Mac (Frank Catton), Carl Reiner (Saul Bloom) and Jerry Weintraub (main producer of the Ocean's Trilogy, 2001-2007).
The beginning and end shots were done at the Rahway State Prison in NJ. Also when he calls his truant officer you can see the logo for the Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City which has since been demolished. The shot of him coming up the escalator to the casino was shot there. Trump also owned the Taj Mahal casino which is now the Hard Rock and the Trump Marina casino which is now the Golden Nugget in AC. FYI since Steve Wynn left LV, None of the casinos are owned by any one person. All of them are owned by corporations.
The Mafia built Las Vegas & brought Frank Sinatra out to perform, said 'bring friends' Frank Sinatra brought Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Joey Bishop, & Peter Lawford. (very popular entertainers) Formed a social group known as "The Rat Pack" dropped into each others shows to packed theaters. & Frank Sinatra was 'Chairman of the Board', his word was final.
The "Heist" subgenre is way older than these movies. This movie ("Ocean's Eleven") itself is already a remake of a movie from 1960, titled "Ocean's 11". But the 1950s have already seen "heist" movies.
OMG you have to watch 12 & 13! I honestly didn't know how they would be as good or better than 11 but they really are! And the score to all of them is amazing. Ocean's 8 was better than I thought it would be but felt like an unnecessary tie in because other than the heist style it's so thinly connected to this universe it's ridiculous.
Matt Damon won an academy award for best original screen play w/ BenAffleck for Goodwill hunting. Matt was not a new comer to Hollywood FYI .. Great Reaction! 🌠
Which is what I think he's experiencing when he's saying that "old Hollywood" feel. This film definitely has a lot of that 60s Vegas vibe from the original. All rugged and suave mentality.
I loved this movie! So many layers and subplots, that turn out to be part of the main plot! Plus the great performances! You should watch the original as well, it is also as charming and full of the stars of that era!
Also Out of Sight w/ Clooney, a rare JLo role i like, Ving Rhames, Steve Zahn and other fun cameos. Great storytelling and some funny too but not OTT on that.
The Bourne films, with Matt Damon are a really good watch. A spy/action trilogy & a 4th film with Jeremy Renner set in the same universe. There is a 5th with Matt Damon again, but I haven't seen that one.
I love this movie, sans Don Cheadle's horrible accent. He knows it's bad and said the fan theory that Basher is an American pretending to be from London gave him an excuse, LOL. The sequels are cool (haven't seen the one with the female cast).
Because of his accent in this movie I thought he was played by Lennie James for a long time haha. Kept forgetting it was Don Cheadle. Lennie would have killed it too
I saw this movie on a date. I brought my sister to the date just cus I wasn't sure about the guy. He didnt know she was there, the end of the movie. Thank goodness she was there cus her company and the movie was better than him 😅
This is a super-solid franchise. And put Out Of Sight on your radar. The first collaboration between Clooney and Soderberg. VERY similar vibe/tone, but applied to an Elmore Leonard crime story. Probably Jennifer Lopez's best work.
Great reaction,,, love all the Ocean's movies. 8 isn't a reboot it technically takes place in the same universe. The Ocean in the movie is Danny's sister. It gets a bad rap, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be
This one is great, glad you liked it! I haven't seen 8 so I can't comment on that, I didn't like 12 that much to be honest, and I thought 13 was up there with this one. So for me at least, two out of the four are great fun.
You're right about the vibe, since this is a remake of the 1960 film starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and the rest of the Rat Pack, so the similarity is a deliberate homage to that era of cool (except that nobody smokes). Soderbergh's an interesting director, I'd recommend checking out his other movies.
The soundtracks to all three films are amazing, music is by David Holmes. Several of the tracks come from his 1997 album called "Let's Get Killed", definitely recommend it if you like the vibe of the music here.
10/10 One of my all-time favorites There is just something about this movie that makes it so great. There's nothing truly outstanding about any one aspect of the movie; nothing that will blow you away. However, everything is put together perfectly. Personally, I have a theory that any movie that absolutely blows you away the first time you see it, will lose its entertainment value very quickly. Not necessarily because the movie was not good, but because it just seems to get old too fast. This is NOT one of those movies. This is the kind of movie that will be enjoyed countless times. The dialogue is slick, and always to the point. There are few (if any) overdone scenes and/or lines that tend to become annoying over time. This movie flows exceptionally well. Personally, I couldn't quite figure out why until I watched the "behind the scenes" footage on the DVD. I didn't really notice all of the work they put into using as few shots as possible. The extra features on the DVD really explain it all. Almost every scene uses considerably less shots than you would think it takes to convey all of the activity going on. The music punctuates the flow of the movie and the shots extremely well. The cast is almost all big names. It's great to see actors like Pitt and Clooney and Damon come together in a movie and interact so well, without having to be the pretty boys or bad-ass heroes of the movie.
I’m like 90% sure this is a bot that steals older reviews. It just made another “review” on a Baby Driver reaction that was talking like the film released this year.

The vibe of this movie is jazz. Not just the music but the fun and improv among a team of experts.
I noticed this when I analyzed it last year, god I love this movie
So an actor/actress jam session?
All of the Oceans films are great. Please continue.
The original was "old hollywood" , with Frank Sinatra & gang so you were right with catching that vibe
funny you should say that about the Matt Damon and the structure of him being "the new kid" they actually talked about that in the dvd commentary i remember lol so you are correct! also this is technically a remake, the original is from 1959 starring The Rat Pack (Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, etc.) so your observation of the old hollywood throwback is quite spot on LOL. proud of you bud.

Such a classic, one of the best heist movies ever made. Can’t wait for you to dive into the whole series!
This movie is perfectly my type of humor lol. So much fun.
The two buddies, with the balloons, the one is Scott Caan, son of James Caan, think “Misery”.
Scott Caan also played Danny on the Hawaii Five-0 revival. "Book 'em, Danno."

The Heist Comedy had a rebirth in the early 70's with "The Sting".
The 3 Kings, The Perfect Storm, and Ocean’s 11 were and still are my favorite Clooney movies.
"Jason just Bourne"
These movies are so fun! Glad you're finally watching them!

I'm aware of that, what I meant was the style of depicting the planning/staging/executing the heist.
@@Omn1Media
Try "Rififi" / "Du rififi chez les hommes" (FR, 1955).
Soderbergh films to watch: Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Erin Brockovich (2000), Traffic (2000), Magic Mike (2012)
OMG you have to watch 12 & 13! I honestly didn't know how they would be as good or better than 11 but they really are! And the score to all of them is amazing. But even if it’s not connected I still love Oceans 8
Barney, is a character from The Flintstones cartoon!
Eliot Gould (Rueben) also played key roles in the original M*A*S*H movie and on the hit TV series E/R before becoming Mr. Geller.
now to watch Oceans 12 and 13
Heists films are 120 years old, but the modern style originated with Rififi (1955) by Jules Dassin. It's a must watch.
this was one of my first DVDs, i watched it on a loop at uni and apparently had it memorized cause every line and beat im like, yep.
Matt Damon won an academy award for best original screen play w/ BenAffleck for Goodwill hunting. Matt was not a new comer to Hollywood FYI .. Great Reaction! 🌠
This is such a rewatchable movie! The entire series is. I really hope you continue with all the others!
So BEN Affleck is NOT in this movie but one of the two annoying guys always bickering with each other is CASEY Affleck, Ben's younger brother
This is a perfect film. So much fun!
My favorite movie of all time I'm so glad you're watching this. Also the soundtrack is fantastic.
If you dig Clooney, you should check out Monuments Men. He directed and starred with a stacked cast. Love the reactions man!
I really really enjoy your reactions!!❤❤❤
This is a remake of a Frank Sinatra movie from the early 1960's with the Rat Pack.
Which is what I think he's experiencing when he's saying that "old Hollywood" feel. This film definitely has a lot of that 60s Vegas vibe from the original. All rugged and suave mentality.
I always love seeing the 90s brat pack working together. Here it's Pitt and Damon
A really great heist limited series on Netflix came out a couple years ago starring Geancarlo Esposito called Kaleidescope, which was FANTASTIC!
yup wanna see 12 and 13!
would be great to see you react to the other oceans movies! How do we get to submit movie titles?
A nice surprise. 👍
A super cool, stylish movie.
This is such a fun movie. 12 and 13 are fantastic as well. RIP Bernie Mac tho.
Take a look at "out of sight".... George again. Jeniffer Lopez und many others....
Still such a great classic!
It's soo good ! they're all good w their own quirks and charm, all of them.
one of my favorite pr the RatPack...thankyou

Love this movie♥Heck love all the franchise ♥
every oceans movie is amazing including oceans 8 it wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be
One of the better remakes of a film originally made in the 1960s although I still prefer the original even so
I confused Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon until I was like 15. It was extra confusing because I hated Wahlberg but LOVED Damon.
Between the brothers
The Blonde went on to be the one of the lead characters of Hawaii Five O
The Brunette went onto to be in Oppenheimer
Love these movies!
"And introducing Julia Roberts" :D
The Bourne films, with Matt Damon are a really good watch. A spy/action trilogy & a 4th film with Jeremy Renner set in the same universe. There is a 5th with Matt Damon again, but I haven't seen that one.

There was a video by an ex jewel thief that says realistically the team had too many people.
Movie drinking game
Every time Brad Pitt eats
I saw this movie on a date. I brought my sister to the date just cus I wasn't sure about the guy. He didnt know she was there, the end of the movie. Thank goodness she was there cus her company and the movie was better than him 😅
Jason just born lmao
Say what you will, its a fun trilogy!!!!
1 is the best
2 at least for me is the most forgettable
3 is really good
they are great movies
This is a super-solid franchise.
And put Out Of Sight on your radar. The first collaboration between Clooney and Soderberg. VERY similar vibe/tone, but applied to an Elmore Leonard crime story. Probably Jennifer Lopez's best work.
OK alright I'll bite while I wait for more Ted Lasso haha. Season 2 is where it's at. The relationship developments are so good
Julia Roberts wasn't in Ocean's 8.
Brad Pitt is eating, of course
Was that meant to be a British accent? 😂 oh hell no…. We honestly do not sound like that.
Watch Money Heist
The last one. Is not. Oceans8. Hard pass
1st bby
gave a meh to Julia Roberts... lol wtf
Hmm?
Great reaction,,, love all the Ocean's movies. 8 isn't a reboot it technically takes place in the same universe. The Ocean in the movie is Danny's sister. It gets a bad rap, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be
Agreed. I enjoyed Ocean's 8 a lot. It's totally worth watching.
it's not even comparable to this trilogy though.
There’s a prequel in the works with Margot & R. Gosling set in 1962 Europe directed by Jay Roach
This movie single-handedly started my interest with movies/cinematography/classical music/ many other parts of who I am. Just now realized
I love the celebs in the poker game and recognised holly marie combs by the hand movements
As a long time Charmed fan, seeing Holly Marie Combs make a cameo in this was a nice surprise. Had the hugest crush on her.
This was my favorite movie for a long time. It's influence can be seen in so many movies.
Oceans 12 is good too
Love these movies. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore
This one is great, glad you liked it! I haven't seen 8 so I can't comment on that, I didn't like 12 that much to be honest, and I thought 13 was up there with this one. So for me at least, two out of the four are great fun.

Holmes went HARD on Ocean's Twelve! Seriously one of the best modern film scores I've ever heard ❤
Wasn't there an original Ocean's eleven that starred Fred Astaire
An excellent George Clooney film that no one reacts to is a political thriller with him and Matt Damon called Syriana
What crime was he guilty of? Was he not legally allowed to step inside a casino?
Just guys bein dudes
One of my top 10 movies. It’s so good
Slick vibes
😆 he's like “ why do I even try”
The guy with the remote control car is Casey Affleck, Ben’s younger brother. A great actor in his own right. Was also in Good Will Hunting.
Most enjoyable of the heist movies. Thanks for taking a along for the ride! 😊
Holy shit I was not expecting this
Now this is a great way to end 2023
This was such a fun watch. Loved it.
10/10
