i feel like such an idiot for not noticing the fact that the poker scene was its own mini heist, that's so well done now looking back at it

i knew it was a heist from the look they gave each other after outside the club entrance....what i didnt know or notice was the tiny cues danny was giving rust after he commented on danny buying his way out of his bluff...and i may be completely reaching but...was his slight smirk and eye blink part of the cues?

I was actually very refreshed to watch the entire Ocean's trilogy without seeing any dramatic fake-out deaths or gun fights where we think the main character might be in danger. I thought for sure Danny would sacrifice himself to save Rusty or vice versa - but it didn't play any of those old tropes, it was just pure fun and clever plot twists throughout
I have watched this so many times. You right, the ending scene is ......... just perfect. Although, I have no problem with Oceans 12.
I felt O12 was so weak until thinkpieces explained how I was missing the subtle multi level con games being played, including on me as the audience
O13 tied up all the loose ends. I’m looking forward to O9 and O10 after O8.
I enjoy O12 as well. It's quite different in structure, and the capoeira laser scene at the end of absolutely terrible, but all of the suaveness of O11 is there.
Seriously one of my favourite films. This is a movie you can watch every year...and it does not get stale. The acting, the comedy, the zooms and shots by Soderbergh are incredibly cool looking. There's something about the music and the way that its shot, it almost feels a bit psychedelic at times. It creates a firm tone and you can't help but dive into the movie and forget everything around you. The movie flows really well also!
You totally underrated the music. I feel this movie works more so because of the music. I haven't seen ANY other movie having such a wonderful soundtrack THROUGHOUT the movie. The music is absolutely important, as important as every other aspect and that's what makes it a perfect movie, because all the departments are working absolutely at their peak.
I think Matchstick Men has a similar vibe and a similarly fitting score.
It's definately a perfect movie for me as well. You just have to love great heist films like this.
- Incredible cast.
- Amazing plot.
- Perfect editing (the moment cutting from Benedict to the swat team's bag and then to Rusty flipping his visor up blows me away every time).
- Great music that fits the vibe really well.
- Very atmospheric lighting and use of color. How the colored light from the set often falls on the faces of the actors is so visually stunning.
- But my favorite thing is the dialogue. I remember so many lines from this movie. It's just so well written.
Oceans Eleven and Inception are among my best appreciated movies. With O11 being the more relaxing and fun to watch, and Inception (if you count it as a heist movie) the more deeper and emotional counterpart. I will never grow tired of these movies.
i agree with you 100%, and would only add that the Bellagio as a backdrop is really what makes everything pop. the fountains, the artwork, the port cochere, everything adds together so well without any one aspect being overwhelming
the oceans trilogy is absolute awesome! i love the three movies

you know what’s weird, I watched Ocean’s 12 first and was so entertained. Imagine my delight when I found out there was an Ocean’s 11.. definitely one of my favourites
I don't think that Ocean's 11 is a perfect movie, however, it's a movie that I will watch over and over and over. My god, I can watch Pitt and Clooney just hanging out. It's the same as "the wolf of wall street" or "once upon a time in Hollywood" to me in reachability. Too bad 12 had such bad pacing.
13 was good tho
12 was not that bad, sure the heist wasn't quite as good as this one but the whole vibe is there and also the lahiri and rusty storyline is pretty cool
fatoulishyper I agree that it’s not that bad, but again the main problem is the pacing of the film, the team doesn’t have as much agency and that can make the second act drag. Though the characters and style are still there, the plot isn’t and that’s why it’s inferior (although not the worst)
@@SM-md2lg Yup. O12 was about "stealing" Isabel (Catherine Zeta-Jones) not so much about the egg. Although it didn't live up to the level of the first movie, it's still quite good on its own.

I agree in that Ocean's 11 in the best; however, 12 is my personal favorite but only because (1) the music in all of them was fantastic but soundtrack in 12 did the best job of describing the theme for each scene. (2) the whole idea of Tess being a huge Bruce Willis fan and then unexpectedly running into him while trying to play Julia Roberts is the funniest thing ever! Anytime I watch that scene I'm done for the day. 🤣
In watching 12 & 13 I realized how completely under-appreciated the score is. It absolutely slaps. David Holmes does the score though 11-13, but 12 and 13 aren't even particularly good. But that strange, catchy, slightly limping jive that vibrates through every scene of 11 is the blood pumping through each moment of well-scripted chemistry. Honestly, ask yourself if this would be the same movie without it. (I agree with everything else said, but I hadn't seen anyone mention the score, and that's straight sacrilege.)

It's just so great because everything simply works out in the OG Ocean's trilogy. No major fuck ups, no plot twists (O12 doesn't count, that shit was planned all the time). Those couple of times a plan just came together perfectly
No movie is perfect, but Ocean's Eleven comes damn close.

The Malloy's will alway be my favourite especially in the sequels. I don't think I would like the sequels nearly as much without those two 😂

Mark Rowlands I never knew there was anyone like me. I fuckin love that movie, it's my all time favorite, and Jack Nicholson (and his crazy accent) is one of the best parts

Se7en does it for me. Not a bad moment throughout the entire movie.
And for some other reason, Shooter is one I can pick up from any moment and watch thru.

I agree with every word of this vid. My pick for another "perfect movie" is Inglourious Basterds.
I have watched this movie over 20+ times, its a tradition to watch this with my dad every 2 months. One of the reasons why its so rewatchable is the Witty Dialogue and the excellent music composed by David Holmes, the music really does add so much to the 'Vegas' feel. Its a perfect movie

Ocean's Eleven is a brilliant movie. Last night I watched it on TV for the first time in years.
After starting film school I watched this movie again and it hit me how PERFECT of a movie this was it does everything beautifully and I could not get tired of it
this is my comfort movie, whenever i feel bad I just watch it while lying in bed. I just love it so much. I also love 13 as well.
I always feel like this movie has a paper thin fourth wall that could break at any moment but never actually does.
If anyone knows what a "paper thin fourth wall" means. Relax, enjoy Oceans 11.

The oceans trilogy (excluding the old version and reboot obviously) is on my top favorite movies list, but whenever something is described as perfect I always think of the quote from mayuri kurotsuchi on perfection. I'm not downplaying ocean's 11, I absolutely love the movie, I just always think of that speech (look it up on yt, it's really cool).

O'S11 Great Movie Absolutely, O'S12 & 13 Are just as good. Progressing unto their own plot lines. Just as enjoyable to Watch One right after another in sequence. Start with Air Popped with pink salt and organic butter popcorn for 11, move to Round Chips and Chili Dip for 12, Than onto Chicago Deep Dish and Mimosa's for 13 My recommendations.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. Ocean’s Eleven is a perfect movie.
I do love Ocean’s (including the sequels), but my perfect movies are Toy Story, The Social Network, and Hot Fuzz.
Although this version of Ocean's 11 is my favorite, its only very, very close to perfection. Two things prevent it:
1. Where did the ads come from in the vault when they blew it up and in the van on the tarmac?
2. How did Danny get back to the room he was getting beat up in?
If you want to watch a perfect movie, that's the absolute perfect heist, with one character equally as cool as Danny & Rusty combined ... watch the original Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
1: They had another tape of them with cash but in really they had the ads.
2: He crawled back into the room using the air ducts.
