James, you are a very knowledgeable comic collector. The collection sounds like an amazing life opportunity. Hopefully you'll be able to be apart of that special deal. But always remember, there are other deals waiting out there, too. Who knows what's around the corner!
I’ve gone thru and purchased collections of only around 6,000 comics and that had taken a lot of time. So the time you had probably spent on a roughly 90,000 collection is crazy to think of! Definitely deep pockets are needed maybe get together a group to invest in something like that. Nice informative video!
I can’t even IMAGINE the time commitment if my investor closed on this. It wouldn’t be me spending the time doing it as it would be him purchasing but even STILL!
Very classy James. Most people would be crushed, but you've put yourself in the shoes of the people who have accumulated such a collection and thought about what benefits their needs above your own. That's very big of you. Honestly, that's what makes you a true collector, because you value the books and value what they mean to others. Head up, other opportunities will come up at some point if you stay in the hobby long enough. Cheers!
I don’t even want to think about what the seller has put out for all these comic books with bags, boards, boxes and actually buying the books. However, only having the comic with the first appearance of green arrow and Aquaman would be nice let alone the first appearance of Wonder Woman. Arguably the best female character in comics.
There's no guarantee it's worth more in 20 years especially the 1980s stuff. That stuff might have already peaked. They would be way better off selling it now and putting it into an s&p index fund for 20 years. Maybe just keep the Golden age.
This whole story is very cool and it is very respectable that they gave you the $500 for your time. I don’t know too many people that would have done that.
Those are some big books you mentioned. Very cool story, interesting to hear they are sitting on them for now. I have been carefully picking up some of these "tanking" books and also plan on sitting for them for a few years. Hopefully they keep gaining value over that time...
Once-in-a-lifetime find, that's for sure. Who has a run of More Fun Comics hero keys? I've never even seen any of those outside from scans on Heritage... That's a great thing to look forward to. Maybe you'll get that call in 15-20 years, maybe you won't... but at least now you have time to build up capital in your comic business to potentially be in the position to make an offer on it down the line
Even though you cant buy them now, you should see if theyd like to colloborate on a video for the channel where you get to review some of the collection.
Happy New Year. Glad to see you taking it well. Buyers like you make comic collecting great. Hopefully you can make a lot of money and buy that collection in the future. Goals
If I had 90,000 comics to sell I would bundle them into sets and runs including the keys to incentivize purchases. Anything left over can be priced individually. Might be able to move a lot of sets and runs to jump start making the money back. Good luck next time!
Wow!! Totally awesomeness of a super duper Neat'O Cool out story. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎 👍 ♥️ ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️📚📚📚📚📚✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️💯💯
Opportunities like that come and go in this hobby but they’ll be others, don’t you worry. When the time is right you’ll know it and we’ll all be watching that video in awe. I’m sure it was quite the treat just to be able to hold some of those books and work on the collection just as a whole. Patience is the key don’t you forget. Until then like you always say “keep on hunting”.
Classy move for them to still venmo you some money after all of that and say you'll be the person they come to when they're ready to sell. And who knows, if the market takes off again in the next 5 years, you might get a call sooner than you think
You could have given Regie a run for his money with that collection. Were any of the Golden Age books restored? I sold my copy of More Fun #73 in August. Two things hurt the sale; restoration and 3 weeks before the trailer dropped.
Hard luck pal, but sounds like you're handling the loss with dignity, the seller treated you right and I'm looking forward to watching your video 15 years from now where you score this awesome collection.
This is why I watch! This could have easily been a woah is me video or ranting about something that didn’t go your way. Instead you took the news on the chin and we got a nice video out of it
Dang even though you didn't get your hands on this collection, still must of been pretty damn cool being able to see half of those books, or let alone come across some of those runs. Hopefully in the near future you can get your hands on another collection like that one
Very smart decision on their part. Unfortunate for you right now, but $500 is nice. The rght thing for them to do too since you put good work into coordinating everything. If you're able to divulge, how did they acquire all those books?
That is the type of collection that you would love to have the funds to purchase. Those 1st appearance books regardless of condition are total interest grabbers.
That's a dream collection but unless you have a massive warehouse and insanely deep pockets like a handful of the big dealers we always see at cons, this just isn't practical. But man what a sight to see! Crazy.
I'm glad I never collected for the money. I've got some pricey books that I got good deals on, but I envision them being in my casket when they put me in the ground. 🤣🍺
I had a chance at a full-run 60s Marvel run - all beautifully preserved about 30 years ago, but missed out on it. BTW which pedigree is that Aquaman in your outro on this video?
As dope as it wouldve been, im sure youll come across another massive collection man. Again your positivity will always bring you good karma man. Good huntin!
Sounds like a great collection It will all work out and they have your number Even if I had the cash that is a huge undertaking…storage sorting selling..it would take me years to do all that myself…fun if you don’t have the pressure of paying off the debt in a quick timeframe…always enjoy your videos!
Hold onto those 80’s books you paid .75 to $1.25 for. Key or not, the price will go up. In 10-20 years maybe they will only be worth $5.00. Who cares, you made a profit. Same with 90’s books. Heck, any book. 60 years from now, people will not find Gunslinger #1 for $2.99. I plan on passing my collection on to my grandsons. It’s not going to be 90,000 books (although my wife thinks I have that), but it will be a good number to pass down to them.
Great episode! Too bad they didn't want to let you have some books instead of cash but very cool of them. Other thought is that the girl getting interested in comics and discovering what is in this collection is a youtube channel i would definitely watch!
Hah I wonder how you would react to the 30,000 copy silver\bronze age collection I had in early 1980s..basically had multiples of all Marvel titiles in stock from 1964 up, DC main titles from late 1950s to 1970....sold majority of them in 1980s and 1990s but dont regret it. The fun was in the chase and basically hobby paid for itself...now Golden Age was really scarce to find in wild where I lived in south back then.
90,000 comics, a collection worth $1 million, Golden Age first appearances of major characters - these are so far removed from my own comics reading and collecting experiences that it remains in the realm of the theoretical. Sorry the deal didn't come through James but you are no further behind than before the brothers contacted you (in fact, you're $500 ahead).
Anyway you look at it, it would be a lot of time and patience for anyone! But a true collector would love every minute of it, I know I would seeing the history just sitting there!
James, you are a very knowledgeable comic collector. The collection sounds like an amazing life opportunity. Hopefully you'll be able to be apart of that special deal. But always remember, there are other deals waiting out there, too. Who knows what's around the corner!

I think most people do not understand how once in a life time this collection sounds. Condolences on your loss, my friend.
INDEED!
Very classy James. Most people would be crushed, but you've put yourself in the shoes of the people who have accumulated such a collection and thought about what benefits their needs above your own. More Fun comics was the true Crown Jewel of DC just as Comic Cavalcade or Early Worlds Finest. With My own
I don’t even want to think about what the seller has put out for all these comic books with bags, boards, boxes and actually buying the books. However, only having the comic with the first appearance of green arrow and Aquaman would be nice let alone the first appearance of Wonder Woman. Arguably the best female character in comics.
Shifting a million bucks of comics or 90,000 in total is a very daunting and scary thought if you’re reselling them yourself.
sorry for your loss my friend be patient and it will come back to you
Deals come and go. Some are better than others. We have all been there.
I agree
Sounds like an incredible collection. I wouldnt even have the room for all those books.
That would have been AWESOME. At least you got to see them....
Those are some big books you mentioned. Very cool story, interesting to hear they are sitting on them for now. I have been carefully picking up some of these "tanking" books and also plan on sitting for them for a few years. Hopefully they keep gaining value over that time...
I love the Superman on the wall. I know mine isn’t 9.4 but just love the cover art
James not only do you have a channel with great content and expertise you are also awesome doing Air Drums!!!!!
Sorry to hear this. Good luck in the new year. I enjoy your content very much.
Wow James, only you could find such a huge collection.
Nice the daughter can be interested in the golden and bronze books.
Once-in-a-lifetime find, that's for sure. Who has a run of More Fun Comics hero keys? I've never even seen any of those outside from scans on Heritage... That's a great thing to look forward to. I love how positive you are about this. 100% the best. That Aquaman first appearance too. Wow. 👍👍👍
That first Dr Fate sounds so sweet honestly.
Even though you cant buy them now, you should see if theyd like to colloborate on a video for the channel where you get to review some of the collection.
I know we get Jaded by seeing so many cool comics but I think just even getting to see these things in the wild is amazing in itself
Happy New Year. Glad to see you taking it well. Buyers like you make comic collecting great. Hopefully you can make a lot of money and buy that collection in the future. Goals
Sounds like an amazing opportunity, even if the timing wasnt right. The next big collection is always around the corner.
Looking at this from the seller’s POV, with the price drops in so many books, I think holding onto them for 15-20 more years is their best option.
Captain Carrot you say? I wanna see a Captain Carrot vs Flaming Carrot crossover, with a few turtles sprinkled in perhaps! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
If I had 90,000 comics to sell I would bundle them into sets and runs including the keys to incentivize purchases. Anything left over can be priced individually. Might be able to move a lot of sets and runs to jump start making the money back. Good luck next time!
I have second-hand frustration SO bad
Wow!! Totally awesomeness of a super duper Neat'O Cool out story. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎 👍 ♥️ ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️📚📚📚📚📚✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️💯💯
Happy to share it!

This was darn interesting, despite the disappointing conclusion. Thanks. :)
Can’t believe having 90k of comics , I have 10k and that is a lot of space taken. Sounds an amazing collection though 😄
Still exciting to hear about the collection.
Chin up! I know this is your year to as another tuber says "make the magic happen!"😊
I swear I have PTSD for not buying a near full run of Amazing Spider last year. I cannot get over it. Not the same magnitude, but i know how you feel.
That's a lot of books....but I'd be up to the challenge!!
Classy move for them to still venmo you some money after all of that and say you'll be the person they come to when they're ready to sell. And who knows, if the market takes off again in the next 5 years, you might get a call sooner than you think
VERY classy - they wouldn't take no for an answer! Good guys
You could have given Regie a run for his money with that collection. Were any of the Golden Age books restored? I sold my copy of More Fun #73 in August. Two things hurt the sale; restoration and 3 weeks before the trailer dropped.
Whew lot of time ahead of you. If you have it
How has the 40 Captain carrots not been used as a gag in a video yet
fee fi fo fum I feel a great year of comics to come. Got some great custom sketch covers in the works.
Here’s hoping!
@@MintHunterComics put it out there in the universe man.
Very cool of them to compensate you for your time. Now you just have to put a reminder in your calendar to follow up with them in January 2039.
Hard luck pal, but sounds like you're handling the loss with dignity, the seller treated you right and I'm looking forward to watching your video 15 years from now where you score this awesome collection.
Gut wrenching but understandable...Great to think you might get the phone call..at least you know they are out there...
wow. that sounds like some collection. congrats to the previous winners, enjoy your figures.
Thank you kindly
This is why I watch! This could have easily been a woah is me video or ranting about something that didn’t go your way. Instead you took the news on the chin and we got a nice video out of it
Glad you enjoyed it! I try to approach things positively!
Dang even though you didn't get your hands on this collection, still must of been pretty damn cool being able to see half of those books, or let alone come across some of those runs. Hopefully in the near future you can get your hands on another collection like that one

If you're able to divulge, how did they acquire all those books?
Sounds like a crazy popular collection that will age well.
i would love one of the captain carrot figures but would also really love it if you signed it
Captain carrot 🥕 too funnylove the golden age enjoy this
A learning experience in the long run... You'll get it next time
I don't exactly see deals of this caliber too often! In fact this was the greatest collection I've ever seen (that was offered to be sold)
That is the type of collection that you would love to have the funds to purchase. Those 1st appearance books regardless of condition are total interest grabbers.
Agreed! I’d pay full price on those books any day! (If I had the appropriate funds that is)
Yeah, but did they have Superboy #0, 1st Appearanceof King Shark, with the Zero Hour logo varient.
😮 Wow, it must of been amazing to see in person.
Captain Carrot is the future of the DCEU!
That's a dream collection but unless you have a massive warehouse and insanely deep pockets like a handful of the big dealers we always see at cons, this just isn't practical. But man what a sight to see! Crazy.
You will hear from them again. IMO the market is still correcting. Like most things it will over correct. They are going to wish they sold sooner.
Man that is a tough break. Sorry!
Bummer!! But at least you have a good story!
I'm glad I never collected for the money. I've got some pricey books that I got good deals on, but I envision them being in my casket when they put me in the ground. 🤣🍺
You've grown so much rlfrom the begging bro. I'm super proud of you. And keep changing lives. ❤❤
Thank you so much! If I had gotten this collection it would have catapulted me into the big leagues. One day!
Never say never. Good things come to those who wait! That one day will happen for you. I know it will! 😊
Ahhhh what an epic collection!
Wow, thats just amazing stuff!!!
Love your content. Some deals just aren’t meant to be.
Marking ☑️ my calendar for 20 years from now sitting like Hugh Hefner in a bathrobe with plies of money 💰
See ya then!
Dig the channel - please keep the quality content coming 👍
*_Sounds like you all dodged the same bullet._*
*_Why didn't they sell it before this past summer? They had the collection for years?_*
Thank goodness they still venmo'd you lol I woulda been even more upset
That's cold blooded that they shafted you
I’m sorry it fell through it would of been amazing
I had a chance at a full-run 60s Marvel run - all beautifully preserved about 30 years ago, but missed out on it. BTW which pedigree is that Aquaman in your outro on this video?
Man just the thought of owning some of those first appearances is just wild
As dope as it wouldve been, im sure youll come across another massive collection man. Again your positivity will always bring you good karma man. Good huntin!
That’s a big collection! 😅
Sounds like a great collection
It will all work out and they have your number

Excellent ive already set my calendar for January 2044❤
Sounds like nice collection
That sounds like a crazy big sale to handle. Definitely a very good selling opportunity, maybe you could buy it in parts every once in awhile!
A concentrated more fun pocket is super rare...that's amazing
I agree.
Good luck!
Careful taking on debt to purchase! That could easily backfire. 😅
You got a million bucks for comics? Daaaamn
I would love to find a captain carrot comic it some point. Maybe when I get my taxes this year.
Excellent 👍
I’d love to see a video or series about good books to buy right now in the down market.
Wow! It would have been a lot of great new content. I'm happy at least you were shown respect for your time and energy.
Comics are dropping so fast that 90K purchase may be 45K in a few months.
I honestly don't think they can drop any further lol
Pulling the trigger on this type of deal is a big deal so I can see why you didn’t go all in at first offer. But I do hope you can still get it.😊
James you'll get the next big collection for sure
Hmmm that’s crazy guess it’s part of the game
Great episode! Too bad they didn't want to let you have some books instead of cash but very cool of them. Other thought is that the girl getting interested in comics and discovering what is in this collection is a youtube channel i would definitely watch!

So you're saying there's a chance, boy that would have been a nice haul can't imagine how long it would take to go through them all.
90K! Holy $#!%😮 That sounds like they owned or claimed a whole LCS! Amazed and jealous I am. 👍🏼
Anyway you look at it, it would be a lot of time and patience for anyone!
But a true collector would love every minute of it, I know I would seeing the history just sitting there!
