In the normal Invincible Universe, Mark Grayson starts off as Atom Eve’s friend and fellow hero and eventually falls in love with Atom Eve, causing the two to form a strong bond that carries on until the end of Invincible with this match made in heaven, but thanks to Angstrom Levy’s Multiverse Powers, we’re able to see a universe with a Mark Grayson that lives a completely different life. Out there is an Alternate Mark Grayson, who not only took over the world alongside his father, but went about it in a very specific order. This Invincible doesn’t wear a mask since there’s no reason to hide his identity because he WANTS people to know the name of the person taking down all of their heroes, and in his universe he recognize the potential problem that Atom Eve poses with her insanely versatile powers, and used his close relationship with her due to being on the same team, to kill Atom Eve immediately upon joining the teen team reenacting the way Omni Man slaughtered the Guardians of the Globe in Episode 1. When this Mark comes to the main universe, he destroys the city of Paris with his own two hands leaving it in ruin, and eventually gets into a battle with OUR Atom Eve, who he tells he’ll end slow this time.

I love that Mark defying Nolan and remaining a hero is the exception to is multiversal counterparts. In most other universes, Mark falls in line and conquers the world for Viltrum.

@@jackmcmorrow9397 exactly, I also think it makes him more interesting than the classic "is always good at heart" trope or "always ends up as Spiderman" because it shows that it's his relationships and ties to others that make him good, not some inherent goodness. Mark isn't a fundamentally good person, he's a person who was taught to strongly believe in good.
Which, interestingly enough-likely means that, for the other universes, they are likely devoid of viltrumites within the next 10 years

I feel like it's worth saying for a lot of confused people. Eve is near immortal, but she isnt *invulnerable.* Her powers kick in to save her if she is on the brink of death, but her body still has to register the actual danger its in for that to happen. If someone blows your brain out with a sniper rifle while youre walking down the street, or you get hit by speeding truck, or anything like that, you will literally be dead without even knowing it happened. No pain, no fear, no change in your vitals, just living and then *not.* The same would apply to Eve. If her body/powers don't know she's about to die, then theres nothing to trigger her regeneration.
Her powers are not omniscient or wholly independent of Eve. They need the trigger of her body/mind REGISTERING that its *dying* to activate and save her. No Trigger = No Regeneration. If Marks of other universes know that, or simply just wanted to take Eve out without the trouble of her getting a chance to fight back, theres plenty of ways to kill a human being before their body/mind would even know that they're dead, especially for a goddamn Viltrumite.
Now if there's examples of Eve literally taking a blow that should've insta killed her (i.e., disintegration, head shot that bashed her brain in, something along those lines) and she came back then ill join peeps in the confused plot hole, but even then, suspension of disbelief is still a thing, as is remembering that different universes can mean minor or major changes in their corresponding Eves.
But im not talking about things like when she got a hole punched through her or her leg getting cut off. Those injuries, while Fatal, were not Instant Killers. Even when you decapitate a human being, the mind is still conscious for about 10 seconds, and cells arent irreversibly damaged in the brain for at least a couple of minutes

The main universe was really lucky in the long run to have a Mark who wasn't evil like in most Multiverse.
Even the current timeline was almost ruined as mark ended up in a different world when fighting Angstrom & would have ended up becoming evil it required guardians to Intervene & alter everything which makes the current timeline even more rare

Ok so in that universe, Eve's powers don't get out of control when she's fatally wounded
Well if she's just merced in one shot (for example, Mark just smashing her head like a watermelon) eve and her powers wouldn't exactly be able to react/respond to that. Fatally wounded means you're still alive and so her powers can trigger. But from the line saying he'll kill her slowly "this time" it implies that evil mark just OHK-ed his Eve
More like Mark end her before she can unleashed her full power.

It's either that version of Eve has a difference in how her powers work to some degree, or her powers just don't work to regenerate her from death if she hasn't consciously been made aware she is in danger and dying, like if that Mark just surprised attacked her and instantly turned her into a puddle for example

Eve isn't immortal, she just has the ability to regenerate while *dying.* If villains didn't keep holding the villain ball, they'd put a fist through her face or crush her skull in 0.3 seconds
The entire front half of her skull was caved in, leaving a gory mutilated mess where her brain used to be. She got better.

One question though as someone who has read the comic, how does that even work. Like Eve's power lierally won't let her die off any causes, the only exception is when she's pregnant which could kill the baby if she use her power, but other than that, Thragg, Conquest and even old age itself couldn't kill her
I mean aren't there several universes in the comics where Eve has died? The trick in all of those instances to my understanding was that none of those hits you reference are instant killers. They didn't like smash her skull in or instantly vaporize her or anything of the sort. So as long as her body has the time to register that her life is in danger, it has time to react and save her. But if it never registers, i.e. she's offed before her body/powers can recognize how critically injured she is, then she'd just die.
Why is there only one version of Mark as a Hero and almost every other alternates are cold blooded killers ?
In this universe, Atom EVE is weaker, because in the Invincible universe she is immortal and when killed she comes back to life with powers capable of killing any viltrumite

Near death is not equal to death. She can't resurrect people nor has she ever done so in the comic. Proof, Oliver is still dead.
I honestly think they should have done a relationship with Mark and Atom Eve in the show, instead of Amber. Amber is not a likable or charming love interest by any means. They make her come off as this, arrogant, pretentious bitch a lot of the time’s, while Eve and Mark seem to have much better chemistry. I’ve only seen season one, maybe this happens anyway, I hope so.

Eve's limiter is removed when she's close to dying, not when she actually dies. This world's Mark probably killed her instantly before her powers got the chance to kick in.

Look at it this way- if you get shot in the stomach, you'll bleed out. If you get shot in the head, you die. Mark probably killed Eve instantly, before her powers had a chance to kick in.

For such great art this book/cartoon is so badly written.
For those wondering if Atom eve's immortal due to her powers how did he kill her.
The theory is: There is a blockade in her brain that stops her from accessing her full powers and limits it only to inorganic stuff however in near death suituations those blockades are overlooked and she heals herself. But But in all the instances she healed herself in the comics in those cases she had a purpose to live! She wanted to live and thus she did, let's say Mark got old and passed away she lost all purpose so she lets herself get old and die cuz she doesn't want to live anymore, so in this kind of case she might actually die and powers might not kickin cause she is mentally and physically prepared to die.
Secondly, can she be killed, Yes! absolutely, as I told earlier her powers lies in her brain so blow her brains out in an instant and she is dead, no healing this time.

Mark is so fragile, compared to atom eve. Specially when it comes to saving, she is much much better and more capable than Mark.
