We’ve talked about how Mark was taken down by the Viltrumite Anissa who has a mission to produce an offspring with the Viltrumite of earth, and it takes a long time before we see Anissa again, but eventually she returns in the story on Omni Man’s Moon base, as she happens to see Mark for a moment saying funny seeing you here, causing Mark to grab her by the neck and slam her against a wall telling her to back off, as Omni Man yells his son’s name telling him to stop, but Mark tells his father to back off with an extremely angry and serious face, while Anissa tells Mark that he doesn’t understand how much she actually enjoys what he just did and it makes her wanna speed up their next “meeting”. Mark gets disgusted and walks away with Omni Man questioning Mark on what exactly is going on, but he doesn’t get a response with Mark just saying nothing.. Just nothing. Now as the story moves on, years and years go by after Mark tells Eve about what Anissa did to him, so the next time Eve sees her she attacks her immediately making a big scene, and when Omni Man breaks up the fight hearing once again that Anissa did SOMETHING to Mark, he grabs her by her neck screaming with all of his might, WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY SON, but Mark once again says nothing.. And they just let her leave.

Tbh I think this is a very accurate reaction to that type of trauma. Sad that she didn't get what was coming to her in either of those situations though.
Mark didn’t really hold it to her by the end. He realized that’s just how the strong reproduce on viltrum. You take what you want. It doesn’t excuse it, but I do enjoy how Mark was able to get past it, and have a decent relationship with the child that resulted, even if it was rough.
Saddest part is, when men are assaulted in this way they behave exactly how mark did.
It’s such an embarrassing thing that they just stuff it away into that little jar of sadness and rage that every man holds.
The people wonder why he acts a certain way, or maybe is very withdrawn from everyone.
I myself have not suffered such trauma but I have met men who have. The only thing you really can do for them is just embrace them and let them know you care, and that they aren’t alone in their struggle.
Really, most men could use that last bit regardless of whether they’ve been assaulted or not.
Far too many of us go through life alone and silent, solely because we don’t want to burden others with our “bullshit”.

As awful as this was in the comics, I do hope they do not change this for the show. This is something real that can happen and shows the audience just how awful Viltrumites are, as well as bring forth that men can be SA too.
I'm hoping they do change one thing though. Anissa should end up with Monster Girl, instead of some random earth dude. Monster Girl can get her pregnant with her male alter ego for more children. Monster Girl is potentially longer lived than a Viltrumite because she can take off her belt that saves her present age in storage when she changes, which means she'll slowly start getting younger again. This way she can stay as young as she wishes by alternately wearing or removing the belt. Marky won't be left alone after his father died to become bitter like he did in the comics. Monster Girl would always be with him after Anissa died.

I never read the comic but from what I understand they made Amber black and changed her personality for no apparent reason. So I suspect they'll change this too. I hope they don't remove it but what I'd hate even more is if they kept the storyline but did a gender swap. I could totally see them changing her to a male and having him assault Eve instead. That really does seem like something they'd do.

God this made me wince. As someone who was SA’d as a child and again as an adult a few years ago (not by the same person), I know the disgust and pain that can be felt. They do their best in media to bring up many other issues today, but things like this rarely ever get shown. This is honestly such a ride or die Omni-Man moment. I love that he understands that something happened to Mark so horrible that he won't even tell his own father what happened. He lets it go for his son's sake but the next time he sees her, it's on sight and it takes Mark begging his dad to let it go before Nolan drops Anessa. The fear in Anessa's eyes when Nolan snaps on her is so damn good. That whole sub plot deals with VERY heavy themes but I think it adds so much to the story of emotional triumph found in Invincible

This story BETTER not be cut from the show. Its incredibly important, well written, and nuanced. We dont get a lot of depiction of men as victims in these situations. But it absolutely happens.

Based on the comments i dont see how this can be omitted. It makes sense why she did what she did because it's all they known as Viltrumites. You breed strong offsprings and continue on with your life of domination. Not like she been changed cause of earth yet so seeing how this played out was interesting in the comics. I will agree there probably should've been a proper fight between her and Atom Eve though over what happened
It doesn’t make sense, it only is understandable. It never makes sense to rape someone under any circumstances. Viltrumited can literally breed with any species and that child will grow up to become a full viltrumite. Omniman is literally proof that rape isn’t necessary.

Thing I do like about this arc is that she does succeed in having a kid with him and later it's she is shown to actually regret what she did to him and actually isn't happy about it though she does enjoy being a mom. I think mainly just cause she has a son and it makes realize she would very upset if someone did that to him and put him through what she put mark through so she ends up regretting it. I think she even apologizes to matk sometime later for her actions.
