Sedation please ,I had many Gastroscopies over the Years never found a thing but in the last few Years it was dreadful, I felt everything I was aware of everything going on around me and the Nurse holding my Hands down, I was choking and wrenching was sore for Days after it, they do not give as much sedation as they used in the past as I was told by the Doctor. I had one last Week and I was a nervous wreck so much that my Blood Pressure was sky high before it, I told them about the horrible experience that I had the last time and told them that I need enough sedation, the Doctor did (a different Doctor than did the last one) I did not feel anything, just a little sore the next Day, I am still nervous about getting this Procedure. I would advise to get sedation. The Throat Spray is not nice either feels like your Throat is closing in and you are choking. Once again I advise take sedation .I live in Ireland.
I had my gastroscopy a day ago. No sedation just the throat spray. I soldiered on with calmness and without fear. Only took 7 minutes and was out of the hospital in 20min because i had to speak to the doctor. Its unpleasant yes but you don't die. Focus your mind on something nice and its over in no time. Ufortunately I have two duodenal ulcers with stigmata and im under medication and a good diet. Hopefully i get it cured.
@@vigneshwaranmuthumani1164 for a while i did feel better i controlled my diet however i felt confident to go back to the old ways and the pains started again. So i am not yet cured and still taking omeprazole, to make things worse the antibiotics for h. Pylory messed up my guts and i get daily guts pains too. You having the same?
@@texwiller9337 I don't y gastritis it's not healing bro, I'm my relatives all are saying it's just normal all are have stomach pain be with it like that they are saying, even I'm maintaining a meal it's not goes away bro.
My doc referred me for a gastroscopy and two weeks later, my hospital said it was cancelling my appointment - even before any appointment had been made! And all because some guy ate a bat.
After 8 time fail from finding my vein for blood test , nurse told me they dont want to poke me anymore for plug sedation, so i go w/o sedation the pain tru stomac just cant tolerate .. scope enter and coming out the gag i have was unbearable .. but again i made it today .. 😂
If this is what we call an EGD in the US. They very rarely do this without sedation. Only in the ER or trauma. Me? I’m lucky. I’ve woken up 2x with iv sedation so now they do anesthesia for me
I had both IV & spray for my Gastroscopy today! I feel alright walking about. But I have a sore throat, hard time to swallow my food. It’s taking awhile for it to subside. But will give it 24 hours before ringing up. Has anyone had any troubles with spray or is this normal.
Yes - I breathed through my mouth all the way through (no sedation). No gagging or retching. It's a little awkward swallowing for a few minutes after the procedure but no problem.
Sedation is excellent. You feel nothing, remember nothing, and it only took me 10 minutes before I was ready to leave and go home. Just don’t piss off your anaesthetist before he gives you the needle or he might decide not to wake you up 😂
Don't thinks we are talking about sedation here in England. I know over three people that's had sedation and believe me they thought it was very painful.
@@millyarscott8656 Maybe it depends on the sedation. My anaesthetist obviously knew what he was doing because I went off to sleep and remembered nothing.
@@millyarscott8656 I’m not sure why. It’s the anaesthetists job to put you under. I’ve had sedation also known as twilight anaesthetic 4 times and it’s worked perfectly.
@@aussie8114in the U.K. we don’t get put under for the procedure. It’s a sedation that makes you sleepy but still awake. It’s administered by a nurse not an anaesthetist into the cannula. There is no iv

I just had one today without sedation. I felt the entire thing too. It was awful. If it wasnt for the nurse i would have had to stop it.
