In this "Investment Banking explained in 5 minutes" video, I answer all these questions and more.
Using Goldman Sachs' annual report as an example, I explain the front office divisions and how much they generate. Then, I discuss the investment banking division in more detail, explaining both the advisory and the financing side. Lastly, I explain the skills required for the job, the expected compensation, the work hours, and the likelihood of breaking into investment banking.

great video man your content is really helpfull i myself wants to become an investment banker at these top banking firms i am in my 12th grade right now can you pls tell about the qualifications we need to get a job do we just have to have a bachelors finance degree or we need to do a MBA/CFA and pls also tell whisc is more worthy these days MBA or CFA it would be great if you make a video on this topic .
You don't "need" any of the qualifications. Most people work in IB fresh out of a bachelors (many do an internship in IB during their bachelors as well.) If you can't get in through this traditional route then it might make sense for you to look into CFA, Masters and other options.

Very good video but im scared of the hours per week... i have to work like 15+ hours a day to get 80 hrs/week if i work 5 out of 7 days
no one talks about it but investment banks get a commission for every IPO or M&A...like 7% of $7 billion is a $490 million commission for the investment bank so that's why they're always pushing to get an IPO or M&A done

Could I work in an investment bank at the age of 14? I really have a big passion with business and a lot of education about finance. I even predicted the crash of Bitcoin and the rise of a solar company, but my dad didn't allow me to short sell Bitcoin and to invest in the solar company so I lost the opportunity 😂.
Focus on school. You can definitely try to learn about this, but if you want to take a job then you will suffer (our jobs require you to put in 95 hours a week for the first 4 years).
