because if you're not in an ivy league or even a target school (i.e get an internship your junior year of college) you're not going to be raking in the big bucks. Closest thing out west is the UC system, Stanford and Caltech but even then you'll get some San Francisco job whereas you might as well just pursued computer science instead and make more in Google/Facebook. IB isn't the only place where high salaries are at and it's not fulfilling work; you're not really helping society as much as an engineer does.
