    We're exploring some of the world’s greatest lost treasures, including the elusive tomb of Genghis Khan, the Copper Scroll, Nazi plundered assets, and missing pieces of valuable jewellery, art and artifacts. Historians agree that Genghis Khan’s tomb exists, but despite many attempts and the use of satellite imaging, its location remains a mystery. The Copper Scroll, found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, is a list of locations of gold and silver items, but translating the text has proved difficult, and scholars still debate its meaning. During World War 2, the Nazis looted Europe, including artwork, valuable everyday items, and gold, much of which has never been recovered. This video also looks at the disappearance of the Patiala Necklace, a Cartier masterpiece, which went missing in 1948 and has never been recovered in its entirety.

      The platinum bars that were wilfully thrown overboard by Spanish conquistadors as they sailed back from plundering South America, because they didn't know the value of platinum at the time and it weighed their ships down. Somewhere at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean are scores of metal that-because it's platinum-remain unrusted, even to this day.

    I'm from East Falmouth, MA, and one of Blackbeard's supposed treasure locations is Washburn Island, located in East Falmouth. It's an uninhabited nature reserve that is known for many mysteries. People come from all over to search for the treasure tho. It's a common conversation for locals as well. You'll find many on the beaches walking with metal detectors. If you ask what they're looking for, it's usually Blackbeard's hidden treasure.

    Fantastic video, and the slight attention to lost media with that film was welcome, it's such a fascinating subsections of history the fact we know things existed, they just don't anymore. On that note, the library of Alexandria is wildly blown out of proportions, it was sacked numerous times before being fully destroyed, and in that time much of the texts and historical documents contained inside were relocated or copied. By the time of its actual destruction the amount of unique literature lost is not what it's been said to be, it was a huge loss for sure, any page of writing is important in my opinion, but it's a slight comfort to me knowing that it wasn't as bad as I'd been lead to believe.

    When discussing why the Gardner perpetrators haven’t come forward because of the reward or statute of limitations has run out forget this is probably mob related which means people were likely killed to keep them silent or someone wanted a bigger cut and theres no statute of limitations on murder.

    When the looting in Baghdad was taking place, the US Army stood there, watching it, doing nothing. After the world found out what had happened, then the U.S.under bush, decided that a huge effort needs to be made to return all the artifacts.

    Actually, most of the information on the library of Alexandria was not lost due to the practice of copying most works. This is a great reference video: ruclips.net/video/hYDYkQaxSFg/видео.htmlsi=J_-0VnYd3donufpE

    BC* and AD*
    The "common era" started from the birth of jesus, and the calendar we use is a christian one, so unless you want to use a different calendar all together, it's rude to disrespect the one you do use.

    • @foxbuns
      @foxbuns 9 месяцев назад +1

      most people use BCE as a non religious timeframe. being that a calendar is not a living being with feelings, no need to worry about "disrespecting" it.

    Very delicate way to talk about how savage muslims burned down our biggest bank of knowledge we had of the ancient world. But I get it. Getting your head cut off probably isn't worth the risk of talking about that.
