The story of Pluto was painfully relevant when it was first being written back in the early 2000 and it is still painfully relevant today. I hope the messages of this series can reach those that need to hear it most.
Epsilon's line about Pluto never being his adversary is so poignant. He gets that Pluto is just a puppet being steered by uncontrollable hatred and he empathizes with him. One of the kindest souls in all of anime and he's not even a human. Gotta love Urasawa's characters
Oh? Maybe I should watch the ENG dub on my "Pluto" rewatch. I'm not from an English-speaking-country, so doing that wouldn't come to my mind, but I love watching various dubs (on rewatches) IF they ARE done with care. Is this ENG dub worth the time? 😀
I got the impression that the guy who brought Johan-thingy to Epsilon's orphanage was like some kind of representative/inspector, from the one workers 'uhhh.... hi....' reaction, and he may have brought false documentation and been relying on how he intimidates the workers to make them not ask questions. In any case, I hope he gets arrested and questioned in the blowback from all this falling out and the whole system gets a workover. AND the whole "robots shouldn't raise human kids" gets turfed thoroughly out the window too, because that's just BS. Kids need stable homes.
Okay anyone else think of deter of monster with wassily? He looks similar and hes in the hands of abusive dad who wants to expirement on him like deter was at the start.
One of my favourite moments that hits so hard. I really associate the robots allegory with other groups like same sex couples that have been recently given rights to marry and raise children in a few countries around the world. You see how people can manipulate others to seeing that their love, their parenthood is somehow less then that of a "normal" family and it can work quite easily but once you have time to think you realize how wrong that line of thinking is. The workers care about the children but they are still people and can have moments of doubt with now a lifetime of regret. Another 2000's message that is so potent today.

It's surreal listening to the dub and hearing Keith David's dulcet tones coming from Tenma.
I just got into the dub on my rewatch and it's definitely one of the best

I don’t understand how I never made this connection until you brought it up…

An excellent discussion, Bros. ❤
was i the only one who shipped epsilon and hogan after this episode? lol
What's replacing this?
The lady who sacrificed Wassily was named Griffith. Urasawa is a hack lol
You know Griffith is a real Welsh surname right? Right?
