If anyone isn't aware, the best way to drop down (that I know of) is: 1. Stand at the ledge and face inward toward the building 2. Walk backwards and fall off the ledge 3. Press and hold jump button (RB on xbox one) as soon as you fall off and you will grab the first available ledge. Only hold jump button until you grab a ledge. 4. Press release button (B on xbox one) to let go and drop again 5. Press and hold jump button again to grab next lower ledge 6. Rinse and repeat to execute a controlled descent *Note - as long as there are ledges to grab this works
Steve Wik sometimes there isnt dumpsters and stuff but thats why the roll is good when you unlock it bcz you can just jump off a decent sized ledge and hold B (on Xbox) right before you hit the ground
In case nobody has pointed it out yet, the way to get off the building after obtaining the Korek machete blueprints is to just jump off the roof. There's a garbage dumpster to the right of where you climbed the fence in the video. Just walk around the edge of the roof and look down for it, it's easy to see. Note that it doesn't have the telltale blue bags on it or anything, it's just a regular garbage dumpster. But if you jump into it, you won't get hurt. Easy peasy!
@@TreyDxk LOL I wonder if they considered it a bug and "fixed" it? I was surprised that I didn't die, TBH. Mebbe you clipped the edge of it or something? I dunno. Bummer.
RapaRama lol no if thats the case, there's a TON of unnecessary slow mo clips in this video. His computer is just bad or not good enough for the settings
His setup is terrible, framerate is terrible, the sad part is theres not even that much going on, I don't even know how people play games like this. I don't know what his resolution is set too, hopefully its 1080p, if thats the case he should switch to 1280x720p, ,if possible lock the framerate at 60, also make adjustments to your view distance,if need be. Also I would use a 1050 or better, graphics card wise, also get a mic and just talk, the robotic voice is terrible, lol one part sounded like he said the dumb crackers will set them selfs on fire. Yeah I see its on console, eitherway its terrible frame rate. What does slow motion have to do with it? The game play stutters/theres moments where the video/game lags/the frame rate drops below 10fps, even with slow motion effects, its supposed to show you steady video/gameplay, with no missing frames/stutter/lag. On PC this game stays at a steady 60FPS, at 1280x720p, 1920x1080p, 2560x1440p and 3840/4k as well, atleast with my setup, but at 720p and 1080p you should have no problem running the game with a 1050,1060, for 720p, and 1070, 1080, for 1080p, and 1080TI or Titan, maybe SLI, for 4k. Anyway the game is not supposed to drop frame rates like this, even durring slow motion effects. I also play all my games with a controller, on PC.
Thebest195 It breaks as fast as high handling weapons like the short knives. Try to max the durability of the Korek Machete with angel sword upgrades and kings. You can those upgrades from helping strangers most of time.
For those wishing to climb down, if you have the grapple hook (lvl 12), you can actually shoot the ground with it and you'll fall safely, even though you're traveling faster than velocity.

omg thank you so much just bought the game 2 weeks ago I'm @ agility 9/power 7 survivor? and all these tips will come in handy i am immediately going to climb that building and craft my machete. thanks again

Thank you for the tips I've been using these for a while now I'm currently at Legend level 45 and I still use these tricks. Also I still loot the zombies idk it's just a habit
An improvement to tip#1, use the spikes to save stamina and weapon, once you unlock the stomp skill you can just climb a car and have lure enemies to you, zombies will get just in range for you to kick/execute them from safety while being on top of the car. Easy exp for no stamina/weapon.
@ Jason Westbrook. If you're going to make a bitchy comment at least have the balls to share on google+ so that I can reply to you directly. Anyway, no one is expecting you to do anything. Watch and learn, or don't. It's entirely up to you.
+Bluegamer 178 Most of the footage is from the PC with a few clips from PS4. There's no Xbox One footage here, it's just the Xbox controller I am using which changes the on screen prompts.
Is there anything in this game that isn't takin from something else like the goons are the executioner front resident evil 5 and with the voice actor, the volatiles are takin from blade 2 and the uv lights to kill them and the camouflage thing is from walking dead lol and all zombie types in this game are all the zombie types from dead island just look different and have different names
I should be frowning at the fact you didnt actually use a mic, just a workaround. Voiced guides go further in explaining things than just text and visuals. but for some reason I found I was absobing more info instead of 1%-thinking about if you had a nasally voice, grainy or any of those other unappealing voices you'd hate listening to over a minute. so kudos, great vid, just started DL and was looking for some good info on how to play better, felt boring just running around hitting zombies, didnt know about the "Death from above" or how those spikes worked, assumed it was just useless background props. About the fast-looting, is there a law to it? I seem to need to run further than you do to truncate the loot down so I can fast-loot. sometimes only half the zombies poof. (PS4, you'd think the decal/entity limit would be lower on a console to reduce lag and free up ram)
Just platnium'ed this a few seconds ago, the game's great but...trophy hunting for it kills all the joy, the trophies/achievements are so tedious/annoying for this game.
@ProjectNL My PC was more than adequate. But at this stage of the game's release, it ran badly on all PCs, especially AMD hardware. It has beeen patched multiple times since and runs without lag now, even on AMD hardware (but it's still not perfect).
BladeRunnerBlues sorry man, didnt knew that. I have a lenovo y50 and it runs very smooth on my laptop almost maxed out + fxaa (dont need any more thanthat)
Here’s a few tips from me When your starting any weapon that isn’t a pipe like a wrench board or a lead pipe are all inferior to an average pipe so dismantle them to have metal parts which will assist your stronger weapons in the game Also when parkouring try to climb up on little objects rather than one big one For instance if your running up to a tall ledge and you simply jump and grab that’ll take a while So climb up on smaller ledges that lead up to the big ledge its fun and makes you go faster Use the Lacerator early game with the dodge ability this deals with bandits flawlessly just take a couple swings and when you see an attack coming dodge.
@MrMastrmonstr When this video was made, there wasn't even a hard mode, let alone nightmare mode. But if you want a few tips on how to easily kill volatiles at nightmare difficulty, then watch this other video of mine: ruclips.net/video/9dmMtwLJneU/видео.html
He says right at the beginning that this is for new players, so quit bitching. Another trick (in case you felt like you were wasting time waiting for this to run)... he titles all the tips in a clearly visible blue font, in the top left hand corner of the screen, so I found it easy to scan the play-bar at the bottom to find the next tip, and then jump to it, if he was talking about something I had already figured out, or I wanted to skip ahead because I'd gotten the point. This was a really helpful video (if you are just starting out).
What's up with the people feelin awkward about his robotic voice speaking through out the video, well atleast he's givin us some good idea that'll definitely help you out and it ain't about the voice it's about knowledge/idea they tryna give us, have some respect dude jeez!
Thank You! :D! This really helped consider how noobie i am. The game is old and may not have some featured we have want. I'm just happy it was more of a real Zombie Game and unlike other zombie game shooting laser guns.
This is by far the best dying light tips video I've seen. I hate all the "GO HERE TO GET OP WEAPON" type tips. Those aren't tips on how to play the game better. Those are cheap tricks for 12 year olds.
@DreamsOfNightmareHQ Well technically, it's the Developer's lag since they released the game in this condition and it especially affected AMD hardware. It has been patched now, as can be seen in this video: ruclips.net/video/9dmMtwLJneU/видео.html
Nice video. To contribute to its greatness, after getting the BFM (Tip 9) there's a container on near the building, on the southeastern tip of it. If you jump right into it you'll survive without loosing too much health (I didn't check how much I had before the jump, but you'll lose less than 10 health)
Wow nice tips bro thankyou and to me it doesn't matter whether if you used your voice or a talking synth, what matters to me is the content you give...n I would rate the content as a 10/10 thanks again
best way I've found to "climb" down is to fall a bit and then press the grab button again. rinse and repeat. sometimes just pushing down works too depending on the type of ledge
To repair a weapon without zombies killing you or hitting you all you need to do is go into you inventory and the go to your weapon inventory and click the repair option this acts as a pause option so basically you paused the game while fixing a weapon ( best used at night )
just thought I would mention this: the game's day and night cycle does not actually begin until after you have completed your first night out. first assignment does not have you out at night, just before it falls you rest.
This was a very helpful video. Thanks especially for the machete, and for showing the usefulness of the throw skill with broken weapons (because I broke that machete pretty fast)... the stomp trick when on top of a vehicle is really handy too, and safely builds up agility points.
It's always nice to share tips and tricks this game is super fun and I just a few problems with the zombies emotions throughout the game that troubles me like I stand on a car and it just goes to try to grab me and soon stands there bored waiting like emotions turned off forgot I'm even there.
Thank you for your time and effort to make this! I just got this game off of PSN sale for 60% off and this guide will help me immensily I feel! Cheers!
this is a pro tip ok>when you unlock the finish go to the red bridge go on top of a van and stand on the wind shield so they can be in range to kill but not for them to hurt you and after you kill all the zombies your power will level up like 2-3 times. try this this works
Dude... Really Impressive performance. I wished I looked this earlier, hope this will help me, much to remember, I'm beginner, I find this game too hard without any helps.
Btw you don't necessarily have to have an amazing PC to play this today. It probably changed over 2 years but I have a roommate who bought this with me on PC and he has a really bad computer and it plays fine. But, great video, it really helped and I'm so hyped to see how the new game is for this. Wish it was a series though. Oh well.
It works fine on AMD now..they've released a graphics update especially for SKYRIM. Remove the previous AMD Graphics driver and install this new update. You will be fine to play this game. And by the way ...Nice video mate!!SUBSCRIBED!!!
Everytime I see someone go for the Korek Machete they always take that air conditioner route which is the most difficult way of getting up there but there is an even easier way of getting up there if you climb the main fence and stand onto it to climb onto one of the balconies and you can get a simple route up jumping from balcony to balcony
The trick to climbing down is to not climb at all. The clue flashed right in front of you after you hit the ground. Drop into trash piles and dumpsters from great heights or if on the bridge jump into the water.
If anyone isn't aware, the best way to drop down (that I know of) is:
1. Stand at the ledge and face inward toward the building
2. Walk backwards and fall off the ledge
3. Press and hold jump button (RB on xbox one) as soon as you fall off and you will grab the first available ledge. Only hold jump button until you grab a ledge.
4. Press release button (B on xbox one) to let go and drop again
5. Press and hold jump button again to grab next lower ledge
6. Rinse and repeat to execute a controlled descent
*Note - as long as there are ledges to grab this works
Steve Wik sometimes there isnt dumpsters and stuff but thats why the roll is good when you unlock it bcz you can just jump off a decent sized ledge and hold B (on Xbox) right before you hit the ground
Garbage piles, dumpsters and cars
And if you're desperate, infected will lower the damage of the fall.
Or just use the skill to roll and just jump down and take it or just jump down to cars and garbage bags

There's no Xbox One footage here, it's just the Xbox controller I am using which changes the on screen prompts.
no stop pink sheep voice
Gustav Hammer
I was using this voice 3 years before Minecraft was even created lol.
+BladeRunnerBlues and probably 3 years before Gustav was born^^
Is there anything in this game that isn't takin from something else like the goons are the executioner front resident evil 5 and with the voice actor, the volatiles are takin from blade 2 and the uv lights to kill them and the camouflage thing is from walking dead lol and all zombie types in this game are all the zombie types from dead island just look different and have different names
Robot voice + no ads + simplines = respect
+Zubin HV just experiment until you find the right distance. It can vary from area to area, depending on how much is happening on screen.
Just platnium'ed this a few seconds ago, the game's great but...trophy hunting for it kills all the joy, the trophies/achievements are so tedious/annoying for this game.
I dont usually like vids where there is a talking robot. BUT THIS VID IS AN EXCEPTION. EXCELLENT CONTENT!
good video but your pc fucking sucks it lags A LOT in this video
@ProjectNL My PC was more than adequate. But at this stage of the game's release, it ran badly on all PCs, especially AMD hardware. It has beeen patched multiple times since and runs without lag now, even on AMD hardware (but it's still not perfect).
BladeRunnerBlues sorry man, didnt knew that. I have a lenovo y50 and it runs very smooth on my laptop almost maxed out + fxaa (dont need any more thanthat)
at launch i ran 60 fps v-sync locked it, and also near max settings
Schwiggity Schwaggity good for you, i guess
i'm just saying, not bragging just clarifying that it ran fine with me
Here’s a few tips from me
When your starting any weapon that isn’t a pipe like a wrench board or a lead pipe are all inferior to an average pipe so dismantle them to have metal parts which will assist your stronger weapons in the game
Also when parkouring try to climb up on little objects rather than one big one
For instance if your running up to a tall ledge and you simply jump and grab that’ll take a while
So climb up on smaller ledges that lead up to the big ledge its fun and makes you go faster
Use the Lacerator early game with the dodge ability this deals with bandits flawlessly just take a couple swings and when you see an attack coming dodge.
Much appreciated
this is almost useless for nightmare mode as the math for number of hit is way different but still like the video
@MrMastrmonstr When this video was made, there wasn't even a hard mode, let alone nightmare mode. But if you want a few tips on how to easily kill volatiles at nightmare difficulty, then watch this other video of mine:
ruclips.net/video/9dmMtwLJneU/видео.html
He says right at the beginning that this is for new players, so quit bitching. Another trick (in case you felt like you were wasting time waiting for this to run)... he titles all the tips in a clearly visible blue font, in the top left hand corner of the screen, so I found it easy to scan the play-bar at the bottom to find the next tip, and then jump to it, if he was talking about something I had already figured out, or I wanted to skip ahead because I'd gotten the point. This was a really helpful video (if you are just starting out).
MrMastrmonstr I mean it does say for beginners sooo?
Thanks for the tips! I learned some usefull things :) Can't wait to use the machete ^^
Wait mortifier what are you doing here
@@MarcDaChip Watching Dying Light guides ;)
I love the game ...can't wait for part 2.
What's up with the people feelin awkward about his robotic voice speaking through out the video, well atleast he's givin us some good idea that'll definitely help you out and it ain't about the voice it's about knowledge/idea they tryna give us, have some respect dude jeez!
Thank you Blade your tips are wonderfully helpful with extending my life in DL1.
I figured it out I was pressing the kick button not x
Zaydan Cole i was kicking the shit out of that box forever before i read your comment!!! lol
The box knew to much
He would of talked if you didn't .
Thank You! :D! This really helped consider how noobie i am. The game is old and may not have some featured we have want. I'm just happy it was more of a real Zombie Game and unlike other zombie game shooting laser guns.
It's so laggy wtf
This is by far the best dying light tips video I've seen. I hate all the "GO HERE TO GET OP WEAPON" type tips. Those aren't tips on how to play the game better. Those are cheap tricks for 12 year olds.
Is it my internet or is it your lag? My internet is Good tho..
@DreamsOfNightmareHQ Well technically, it's the Developer's lag since they released the game in this condition and it especially affected AMD hardware. It has been patched now, as can be seen in this video:
ruclips.net/video/9dmMtwLJneU/видео.html
Okay thx
thnx, i was really needed this ... i feel so lost (i just started playing this game a few days ago)
samee
Sad, there is no zombie right activist
Mahendra Singh ?
I've finished this game 6 times, two of Them in the nightmare one hahaha i Love D.L.....'tin' so much for D.L.2 💞
PINK SHEEP?!
Ericsupreme lol
IKR
Lol
Ericsupreme
Finally someone says it
Bravo
Best RUclips video so far for this game! Very well explained!!!
Right after you bought the first power skill, you were playing hopscotch. Smooth
best way I've found to "climb" down is to fall a bit and then press the grab button again. rinse and repeat. sometimes just pushing down works too depending on the type of ledge
To repair a weapon without zombies killing you or hitting you all you need to do is go into you inventory and the go to your weapon inventory and click the repair option this acts as a pause option so basically you paused the game while fixing a weapon ( best used at night )
Thank you for taking the time to do this! I really appreciate your efforts!
just thought I would mention this: the game's day and night cycle does not actually begin until after you have completed your first night out. first assignment does not have you out at night, just before it falls you rest.
Even though night time doesn't actually happen, the cycles for daylight and twilight still occur.
@bladerunnerblues in the back of the building there's a garbage dump, you can jump into, after you get the machete blueprint.
This was a very helpful video. Thanks especially for the machete, and for showing the usefulness of the throw skill with broken weapons (because I broke that machete pretty fast)... the stomp trick when on top of a vehicle is really handy too, and safely builds up agility points.
With the helping hand tip use a broken weapon to kill the zombies by hitting them into a spike set better than your fists for nockback.
thank you this means a lot i just got dying light i havent played it yet but im looking for these kind of videos i just gave it a like thank you
Congrats man best video I 've watched I starting playing and dying with first two bosses thanks a lot
ive already finished the game and i didn't kmow half these thank you!!
Really great tips man. Thanks for sharing
ty just got the game and your tips help...subbed great vid
I almost gave up when i dropped to my death the 6th time on the bridge quest for the Twins. Good tips and tricks
Thanks for these videos, I love the way you lay it all out. keep em coming.
Great video, Blade! Thanks!
Good tips, this guide really helped me out, thanks.
Oh well.
Cheers for the upload dude, this will help me a ton, thanks man!!
Don't you love how the footage when he was on PS4 didn't lag at all, consoles for the god damn win.
Absolutely superb video one of the most enjoyable tip videos I've watched nice one blade subscribed
this video is great. I've been playing since day one and I didn't know a few of these. :)
