    Dragons Dogma 2 is a new open world RPG game from Capcom. Today we break down everything you need to know about the new Dragons Dogma 2 gameplay and what made Dragons Dogma so unique. We will cover all the starting vocations (best character classes): fighter, archer, thief and mage gameplay. We will also discuss what effects character creation have on gameplay, how the pawn companion system works and the new combat gameplay mechanics. Dragons Dogma 2 release date is on 22nd March 2024 according to the recent leak, but this will be confirmed in the new Dragons Dogma 2 gameplay showcase this week. Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in early 2024. Between Skyrim mods and Starfield, Dragons Dogma is definitely a game I'll be playing until Bethesda release The Elder Scrolls 6.

      I refuse to pay money only to work as a QA tester, putting skilled QA testers out of work and doing it all for a game that might never launch anyway. I just think it’s morally wrong. Having said that, if you can play as a single player (I never play games with, or against other players) then it looks like it could be a fun time sink.

    everytime someone mentions dragons dogma 1 i feel compelled to mention that it came out right in the wake of skyrim, so capcom cut like 60% (?) of the content before release because they didnt think itd be able to match up to skyrim in terms of sales in the west. i think if they would have doubled down this game would have been far more popular than skyrim (edit: i dont mean to discredit skyrim or bathesda, i love bathesda)

    • @ByrgenworthGraduate
      @ByrgenworthGraduate 6 месяцев назад +86

      I dont think it be more popular than skyrim, instead i thing it would create its own branch much like witcher and dark souls
      Its larger than any RPG in its genre and I love dragons dogma (I'm litteraly playing it now) however skyrim is just to large to assume dragons dogma is going to reach that popularity
      (Edit)
      i've been seeing a lot of people comparing skyrim to dragon's dogma... now as a fan of both im going to explain WHY dragon's dogma didn't do as well as skyrim... which there is quiet a few
      I'm saying this cause people in the comments section are putting rose tinted glasses for dragon's dogma and are being harsh towards skyrim
      let me explain it like this, if you take out Dragon's Dogma's combat there are very few things dragon's dogma does better than skyrim
      the main difference between skyrim and dragon's dogma is that, skyrim's flaws are, for first time players, overshadowed, whilst dragons dogma's flaws are up in your face and it WILL FRUSTRATE YOU as you continue playing. of course skyrim's flaws does become apparent the more hours u put in however they only ever become apparent after 50hrs or so
      AS A FAN, Dragons Dogma, apart from its amazing combat and its slightly "deeper" rpg mechanics, its bare minimum as an open world. people complain about skyrim's lack luster story telling... lmao clearly they have never played dragon's dogma cause the story in DD is AVERAGE at best, dragons dogma's quest design is TERRIBLE as well, in fact its so bad that it is hard to differentiate between main quest and side quest cause they are both really bad,(if you have never played DD) its essentially " go here, kill this, come back, money , over and over again and you might say "oh skyrim has this too" sure but skyrim's "Side quest consist of the Thieves Guild, Dark brotherhood, College of Winterhold etc in which all have the same production value as the main quest which all keep you immersed.
      The open world in DD is not bad but mehh, tbf skyrim does exploration better than... really any game i can think of, but DD's open world is ( hard for me to say this) really boring, somehow, despite the many npc's you will be interacting with, the world of DD feels baron somehow. everyone feels like pawns. In fact in the lore, pawns are semi sentient, and that's the best way to explain dragon's dogma's world, it feels like everyone in the world are... semi sentient, they don't feel real, there lives don't have any purpose except to talk to you.
      to compare, what is the first thing that happens once you enter whiterun??? npc's having conversations, when you enter whiterun for the first time you see Adrianne Avenicci talking to a battle born about the war and weapons, you see the red guards looking for another redguard woman that all lead into there own quest.
      explore the world even further and you will find conflicts and quests that all feel real and connected like the conflict between the forsworn and the silverbloods that actually have an impact in the reach, there is a small village right outside of markarth mining for the silverbloods and it delves in there conflicts that would open up further once you reach markarth. Non of that kind of world building is in dragon's dogma, the only thing that happens are ambushes ( that open up in your quest log) you can either fight and kill everyone that ambushes your party or run away
      from Cossades to Gran Soren the only thing between the two are bandits and goblins and the only lore we get is "we live in harsh times, that's why there are goblins everywhere"
      Dragon's Dogma is made from developers that never had experience in making Western RPG's and it shows, however, for there first time they did a great job. i am excited for DD 2 and hopefully they fixed its flaws
      i can go on and on , on why skyrim was more popular but to break it down
      dragon's dogma had better gameplay and a somewhat deeper rpg system apart from that skyrim did everything else way better that DD ever did

      @x.entity7820 the only reason Skyrim has lasted this long is because of how loose Bethesda is when it comes to modding. That, I think, is the main reason it is one of the most, if not the most popular classic games of all time.
      Dont get me wrong, BGS did a killer job on the base they gave gamers. I'm one of the unfortunates that still plays on PS4 so I'm still playing basically Vanilla. But I recognize I'm in the minority of players when it comes to that. If Mods werent a thing, Skyrim wouldve faded away, outside of niche players like myself.

      @nagyzoli 6 месяцев назад +2

      It is actually what holds the game back. I would buy / preorder without a second thought the game if it would NOT be souls like. I do no touch anything souls like, no matter how good. I am not the guy to fight 30 min a single wolf and die from a single attack and try again. And most players are like me. Souls have a dedicated fanbase but it is numerically A LOT smaller than your average skyrim/fallout/mass effect player.

    • @Zero0mtk
      @Zero0mtk 6 месяцев назад +8

      @@nagyzoli Worry not then, the game is nothing like the so-called souls like genre. I know the fanbase overlap, but to me the similarity is only in the aesthetics and appearance that baits the "I want a REALISTIC game!" crowd. I have seen quite a bit of huge DD fans who are not big fans of Souls (me included, though I like other Fromsoft works like Armored Core). I'll try to pitch the game in details, but the tl;dr is that I do think DD is definitely harder than average ARPG, but not for "soulslike" reasons...so you might actually like it.
      -------------------------------
      To be a bit more specific, while the game does punish you hard when you step out of bounds (recklessly attacking, venturing out at night etc.), the way to overcome that is not the so-called "git gud" but much more open. You have a full party of fairly capable AIs (which is probably even better in DD2) who will help you kill stuff, heal, tank, etc. that you are encouraged to work around. The enemy behavior isn't designed in a way that only a properly timed dodge roll lets you survive, which leads to you dying until you memorize their attack patterns and the corresponding dodge timing ("30 min a single wolf" as you'd put it).
      These factors lead to a much more freestyle action RPG design that makes the combat difficulty come less from pattern memorization and timing, and more from knowledge, preparation, and strategy. This gives a lot of freedom to how the player engages an enemy/boss: the way different classes, or different "builds" of a given class, engage enemies is quite diverse on an action level. To me, this is the defining difference between DD and soulslike, because combat in soulslike always involve some sort of dodge (or guard or parry) followed by some jabs of attacks, and then back to dodging. The combat is structured around that straightforward back and forth (which is not a bad design in and of itself, to be clear), and you're forced to engage with it well or "YOU DIED." DD's combat is a lot less structured, at times even chaotic, but I'd argue that chaos is what gives the player freedom in action that many praise.
      So yeah, don't let the aesthetics and fanbase trick you, this game does not belong to the soulslike genre (though it will likely be a "difficult" game all things considered). Another closing comment is that the original DD:DA (currently on sale wink wink) is a pretty unfinished product with lots of tragic development problems. Take it from someone who is willing to write a damn essay comparing action design of games that DD:DA is, at best, a pretty flawed great game objectively speaking. I personally think it is one of the best game I ever played, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone at full price hahaha.

    It's been years since I played Dragons Dogma (loved it) but as I recall, Min/Maxing was accomplished by periodically switching up your class in order to get the skills you wanted from each vocation. You'd play as a fighter for a number of levels then switch to sorcerer. Later you would jump into one of the archer classes. Then maybe mage or assassin. Each time you would learn the crazy good abilities offered by the particular class you were currently in so that you would have them in the end game. And it worked great because you never got bored. Anyway, I wonder if that will be the way DD2 plays?

    I remember in the 1st Dragon's Dogma, the very 1st wyvern you encountered was known as "Drake." I would continuously go back to fight him after a certain amout of time passed, he'd respawn, & there'd be a chance your weapon or piece of armour would get "Dragon Forged," which was the highest tier of ungrading you could get in the game.
    I did this for 3days straight, had 3 pairs of armor completely Dragon Forged, & several swords & bows the same.
    I absolutely LOVED that game, & am delighted to hear they are not inly keeping all the traits of the game which worked so well in the original game, but are also expanding upon that for this next game.
