I clicked on your video Gigi! Definitely my favorite of the disney stuff, this, Andor and Mando. That scene with Vader at the end is like something from a horror film, and seeing Carrie at the end is just the most bestest :)
Andor is described as a slow burn, but it does show a slice of how the rebellion builds into what it is in this movie.

I was waiting to see if you recognized Leia's ship pulling away from the fleet. Almost everybody misses that, but you DID recognize it when you played the beginning of IV. Ten minutes before IV? There’s a video out redoing old movies as if Email had been around back then. It redoes episode four of Star Wars as having the plans sent as an email attachment to the Rebellion. Leia held onto the plans quite frankly because the writers couldn’t imagine sending information like that the way we do today. There were no fax machines and no email to speak of.

    • @hanng1242

I saw this in the theater when it came out. The audience cheered when Darth Vader is first seen, cheered at seeing C3P0 and R2D2, had loud gasps at almost every death of the Rogue One squad, a loud “Uh oh” was shouted during Darth Vader’s saber scene, and when seeing Leia everyone cheered! The crowd was all talking loudly during the end credits and on out the theater. So that’s how it was received where I was at. I genuinely like the film and the connections it makes with A New Hope. And I like the characters and was sad that they all died at the end. Bodhi was definitely my favorite, too! I’ll admit that when the Andor series was announced that I was super excited because I really wanted to learn more about the other characters Jyn meets up with that forms the team. The Andor series is indeed a prequel to Rogue One starting out 5 years before Rogue One. And honestly it’s really good and it has introduced even more characters that I’d like to learn more about, too!
Sorry you’ve had to deal with the uncool fans in the Star Wars fandom. I had to deal with some after The Last Jedi simply because I said that overall I liked it. They acted like I said the movie was perfect and the best Star Wars movie ever, which I didn’t but the way some of those fans acted you’d have thought I did! I was working at a video game/movie store at the time so definitely interacted with lots of different fandoms then. I’ve come to realize there’s some toxic fans in every fandom, some are just louder than others. I think the pin of shame idea is a good one! You always articulate your opinions about the films in a respectful way so the least they could do is the same, but I guess there’s just some folks who can’t do that. Where I live the expression “they were born in a barn and raised by chickens” is usually used for such kinds of people.
    Hope you passed your exam!!!
****also sorry you’ve also had bad experiences with Kpop stans. Other than a few minor reactions in chat groups I’ve had positive experiences with them both online and in person. As someone who has been a fan of kpop since the early 2000s before it got super popular, it pains me that there fans who can push people away because I spent so many years as an American living in a rural area liking it and trying to get people to take an interest (same with Eurovision now) that now I am excited to have more folks to talk to about it and don’t want anyone whose curious to be treated rudely and hatefully. I certainly wasn’t by the fans at the time, most of whom weren’t in the US, and it was their welcomingness that made me want to keep listening and finding out more and more about it. I may not like everything that’s Kpop, just like I don’t like everything that’s Star Wars or some other thing I’m a fan of, but I don’t hate on the fans who do or folks who respectfully share their thoughts on things. And I definitely dislike that sometimes the news media gravitate to reporting on the toxic fans and companies feel compelled to engage with them even though I learned along time ago having gone to a rural school that just because some people are the loudest and can get the most attention doesn’t mean they represent the majority. And so far in my life that seems to be a consistent truth. A lot of the majority are just more politely spoken (they aren’t loud because they’re not trying to dominate conversations) and don’t feel the need to draw attention to themselves (because they’re not trying to make everything all about them).
    Great video!!!

    • @gigiiiswatching
      @gigiiiswatching  Год назад +1

as far as kpop is concerned, i realized it’s mostly new fans of new or *bigger groups* that are toxic that way and unfortunately, the bigger the fandom, the more its toxic side is evident! i remember talking to people online ages ago and you’re right, it wasn’t like that (although it was mostly people simping for shinee minho or g-dragon or 4minute the ones i interacted with lol what can i say, i’m very basic)

Hey, Gigii! "Rogue One" is not just the best Disney Star Wars but it's my second favorite Star Wars film after "Empire"!
Admiral Raddus was a substitute for the Mon Calamari Admiral from "Return of the Jedi", Ackbar! Ackbar's red-skinned not blue. "It's a trap!" Lol.

The significance of the film is that it shows a fragmented Rebellion consisting of disillusioned operatives who were unable to galvanize on an actionable strategy. If Jyn hadn't convinced Cassian and his volunteers to go ROGUE, the Rebellion would probably never have won its critical victory against the Empire by destroying the Death Star.
The reason Cassian killed the informant was because the guy's arm was broken and he couldn't climb out of the alcove before the stormtroopers arrived. He would have been caught and revealed what he knew under interrogation which would have alerted the Empire to the security leak and caused them to take precautions against sabotage. That would have negated the advantage of the intelligence to the Rebellion. Cassian would have preferred not to kill an asset but he couldn't let the informant be captured. He soothed him by talking calmly so he could get close enough to kill him without a struggle and spare the guy from dying in a panicked state. It's one of the things he felt he needed to atone for by volunteering for Jyn's mission at the end.
Diego Luna reprised the role of Cassian in the spin-off prequel series "Andor" which is an extraordinarily mature and gritty entry in the Star Wars canon well worth watching!
Saw Gerrera was first introduced in the animated "Clone Wars" as a young man. He was the first modern animated character to transition to live-action. His past with Jyn has never been shown but he does appear in other media.
The Guardians of the Whills was a concept introduced in this movie. They're a monastic order who protect kyber crystals which power lightsabers.
Neither Jedha nor Scarif were destroyed because Tarkin stated he didn't want to issue a Manifesto but just wanted to make a statement. He ordered a SINGLE-REACTOR IGNITION which one infers is a lower-powered blast. He made the distinction twice.
The best line goes to Vader: "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director." Lol.
This movie is set 19 years after "Revenge of the Sith" and ends just hours before "A New Hope" begins! The Death Star plans featured in the Episode IV briefing are what is handed to Leia and what she later uploads into Artoo!
The likenesses of Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing were digitally overlaid on actors portraying Leia and Tarkin because both original actors had passed away.
Alan Tudyk as K-2SO and Donnie Yen as Chirrut both nearly steal this movie!
Donnie Yen is a megastar in Asia and an amazing martial artist known for the "Ip Man" series.
The crystal pendant Lyra gave to Jyn is a kyber crystal which powers lightsabers. Her possession of it shows she's a believer in the Force which is discouraged under the Empire.
The Rebels were using the abandoned temples on the jungle moon of Yavin 4 as a base. Their defense of Yavin is the climax of Episode IV.
Every volunteer on that Scarif mission knows they're on a one-way trip but Felicity Jones delivers an incredible motivational speech!
The black-armored Death Troopers are an elite unit like Navy SEALs.
Darth Vader is absolutely SAVAGE in this film! The audience went nuts in that final scene!
There are SO MANY actor and/or character cameos and references in this film tying into other parts of the franchise. This movie may not be part of the Skywalker Saga but there were plenty of familiar faces on hand! Did you recognize them all? Here are some in order of appearance:
    1. SAW GERRERA (Forest Whitaker; animated Clone Wars, animated Bad Batch, Fallen Order video game, Andor and animated Rebels)
    2. EDRIO TWO-TUBES (Tognath eggmate to Benthic Two-Tubes from "Solo"; animated Rebels)
    3. MON MOTHMA (Genevieve O'Reilly reprising her prequel appearance; animated Clone Wars, Episode III, Andor, animated Rebels, Episode VI played by Caroline Blakiston)
    4. GENERAL JAN DODONNA (bearded rebel General played by Ian McElhinney; animated Rebels, Episode IV played by Alex McCrindle)
    5. SENATOR BAIL ORGANA (Jimmy Smits reprising his prequel role as Leia's adoptive father; Episode II, animated Clone Wars, Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi, animated Rebels)
    6. GRAND MOFF WILHUFF TARKIN (CGI Peter Cushing; animated Clone Wars; Episode III portrayed by a different actor, animated Bad Batch, animated Rebels, Episode IV)
    7. PONDA BABA & DR. EVAZAN (spider-fanged Aqualish and disfigured bud who tangle with Obi-Wan in a Mos Eisley cantina; Episode IV portrayed by different actors)
    8. WEETEEF CYU-BEE (Warwick Davis, Star Wars' lucky penny who cameos in every movie since playing Wicket the Ewok in Episode VI; the small Partisan alien on Jedha)
    9. DARTH VADER (James Earl Jones voices him again!; Episodes I, II, animated Clone Wars, Episode III, Fallen Order video game, Obi-Wan Kenobi, animated Rebels, Episodes IV, V, VI, IX)
    10. HERA SYNDULLA (Twi'lek star of animated Rebels and daughter of Clone Wars freedom fighter Cham Syndulla mentioned over intercom at the Yavin base after Jyn fails to get a green light for her Scarif mission)
    11. C-3PO & R2-D2 (Anthony Daniels puts on the golden plating yet again and is joined by his astromech partner!; Episodes I, II, animated Clone Wars, Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi [3PO only], animated Rebels, Episodes IV, V, VI, The Mandalorian [R2 only], The Book of Boba Fett [R2 only], VII, VIII, IX)
    12. OBI-WAN KENOBI (mentioned only as the Jedi in hiding who served Bail well in the Clone Wars and whom Mon Mothma wishes to contact; Episodes I, II, animated Clone Wars, Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi, animated Rebels, Episodes IV, V, VI, IX)
    13. CAPTAIN RAYMUS ANTILLES (Captain of Leia's transport and Vader's first choke-out on film!; Episode III portrayed by a different actor, Episode IV portrayed by a different actor)
    14. RED & GOLD LEADERS (Drewe Henley and Angus MacInnes reprised their roles as the X- and Y-Wing Commanders, respectively, who perished attacking the Death Star by lending their voices to archival footage digitally inserted into the cockpits during the attack on Scarif; Episode IV)
    15. PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA (CGI Carrie Fisher gets the last word!; Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi, animated Rebels, Episodes IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX)

Honestly every time I see episode 7 I see the amazing potential the third trilogy could have and I like that movie, but episodes 8 and 9 tried to make it all about "saving the galaxy" again instead of focusing on personal and family growing and that just sucks. I wanted to see some character development on Ben and not to watch cringe basic block-buster like thousands of others.

The sequels is a bad movies, they bad storywise, thay bad cinematography
The sequels ruins star wars legacy for money for Disney's bosses, who tried to make money on love of the funs
I lost my faith in the franchise after last film and only Mandolorian and 7th season of clone wars could restore it in me

How could you not like Force Awakens if you liked A New Hope? It's basically the same script! 😀
No, I'm joking. Somewhat. I liked Force Awakens okay, but not really for itself as much as I liked it because I liked what I expected would be the development for a couple of the characters. I was excited to see how Finn would grow and develop. He looked like he had the potential to be a big hero, and the change from Stormtrooper to hero would be awesome! Or could he become more? Would he be a Jedi? Finn's future had me hyped. Same for learning more about Poe. Poe was already a fairly skilled and strong character from the start, but could he be even more? Rey started out interesting, but she was just so amazingly good at things the first time she tried them that I grew bored with her. I expected Finn to be the new version of Luke from the original, Poe to be a less scoundrel version of Han, and Rey to be . . . I dunno. Obi-Wan? She was already so good at everything she had no growth potential, so she might just get killed (like Obi-Wan) to give the others a reason to want to destroy the First Order all the more.
Sorry, wandered off topic. Pain meds can do that.
Rogue One was a good movie, even though we basically knew how it had to end and that sucked. Great characters with great potential and interesting skills too plus a well done story made all the difference. Sad that they forgot how to do that in so many other releases on big or small screens.

Hey,Gigii! You saw Episodes IV-VI uninterrupted.
    You saw Episodes I-III uninterrupted.
Why aren't you seeing Episodes VII-IX uninterrupted?
It's already too late because you squeezed in "Rogue One" but it is better to see the standalones apart from the trilogies.
I recommend you see "Solo" next or leave it until after you finish the Sequel Trilogy.
I recommend NOT following release order so that your feelings about the sequels DO NOT contaminate your feelings about the standalones.
Audiences could not escape release order and their feelings about "Solo" were influenced by their feelings towards "The Last Jedi".

@@gigiiiswatching Cool. I hope changing up the order works to your benefit. A note about "Clone Wars". After the Yoda Arc of Season 6, the story continued following the cancellation of the show in a novel, a comic book and an animatic before the series returned several years later for the Season 7 finale. The comic book is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL to bridge the seasons and reveals a HUGE SECRET! YT channel 'Star Wars Audio Comics' made a VOICE-ACTED MOTION COMIC out of it and another channel, 'Loremaster', stitched the four episodes together into a 40-minute movie. It is called "Son of Dathomir" and fills in Maul's story between Seasons 6 and 7. I highly recommend you DO NOT skip this!
The only place to continue the story of Asajj Ventress is in the novel "Dark Disciple".
The animatics comprise an arc on Utapau with Anakin and Obi-Wan who have a meaningful fireside conversation about Ahsoka. They are fully voice-acted by the cast but crudely drawn. There are links to them that can be provided although they were once available on YT.
"Son of Dathomir" is the most important and the most conveniently available to you.

It would seem that anyone that does reactions and publicly posts those for others to see, is going to open themselves up to both good and bad comments. Most of the bad comments are going to be because the reactor has done or said something that is just so insanely stupid. I'm a bit surprised that they don't catch their mistakes during editing. With a franchise as big as Star Wars is, you are going to have two factions: the ones that have been with the franchise since 1977 and have seen all the changes, good and bad, and understand how important Star Wars is to the entire special effects, sound and other technological progress that has influenced films for decades. The other side is the Disney generation, the woke generation, the progressive generation that doesn't care about the past. You have to be pretty thinned skinned to get butt hurt over some comments, and petty.

I could talk days about the negativity in the Star Wars fandom. I think I said in your reactions awhile ago just watch what you want to watch and come to your own conclusions. Recently we had one horrible story with the fandom come full circle. You will not understand this until or if you watch season 3 of Mandalorian. The fandom is not only hard on other fans but it has been awful and down right cruel to some of the actors. Among my friends we often say if you are older than 15 and you are complaining about Star Wars you probably should step away and seek something else to spend your time on. Rogue One was a more grown up show and Andor really is a grown up Star Wars that George Lucas never wanted Star Wars to be but to me it was really good. Just don't pay attention to most of us in the comment. Some of us really need life lessons on growing up and moving on.

Episode 8 (bad, but enjoyable... even if it's a guilty pleasure), Solo (crap) and Episode 9 (this is the film that killed the whole saga).

But the creators made everything wrong, whan Rogue One managed just to do right.

Definitely the best of the Disney movie, Force Awakens Trilogy was TRASH. Fun Fact. In the original Trilogy it was supposed to be Red and Blue squadrons but they couldn't use the Blue with the Blue screens so it was changed to Gold. They made Blue squadron get wiped out in this movie, explains their absence in A New Hope. Andor is an amazing series, but it's not for people that just want nostalgia, crappy action, and overused CGI.

On the other hand Star Wars rabid fandom over the last 20-25 years has had me repulsed. The overly loud hatred and vitriol that they’ve spewed has made me dislike being in any way connected with them. They’ve truly sucked the fun out of Star Wars for me.

I was sort of joking on the K-pop but sort of serious enough that I’ll own it.
As for the SW fan stuff, it’s been tiring. When the prequels came out there was a lot of love but a lot of dissent. The difference back then was that the internet was new enough for the masses that the effect was isolated. However it was enough that Jake Lloyd hung up his acting boots and Ahmed Best also went to ground. Even Hayden copped a hiding from the fans.
It was only a decade or so later when the kids who saw the prequels as their first real foray into the SW universe got to add their voice and show that they loved the prequels that those movies started to gain more general respectability in the SW fandom.
Now we’ve got the power of the SW stans who have pretty much killed off any taste Disney had for making SW movies. Now all we get are tv shows that Disney prefers because they can adapt as they go if they’re not on track with the fans.
I’m at least glad that they’re getting more love from the fans than the movies did, although to me they look like high end fan fiction. I saw 7 episodes of The Mandalorian before I gave up. It felt like Xena The Warrior Princess (think that when you watch them and you’ll know what I mean).
Anyhow, the honesty you show in your reactions is refreshing. It’s always clear what you like and don’t like, and that’s a good thing.

I should also note that some of the hatred shown by the ‘fans’ towards some of the cast of the sequels was off the chart. It caused one actress to shut down her social media account, if I recall, and probably caused massive psychological damage to some of the actors. If you look some of it up, I’m pretty sure that what some actors must have seen as a dream acting job suddenly turned into a mental anguish nightmare.
