I'm from Canada, it's a pleasure to see the videos, I work in the field too and seeing your trucks impresses me. they are so different. I love the tow truck ❤.
Enjoying these videos,I did recovery work with the army, Didn't need pre lifts as there were recovery lifting points on the front of the vehicles,I delivered containers to Boniface engineering in Norfolk with the recovery equipment for building the wreckers.
Hi Ian thanks for watching and commenting , we have to pretty much pre lift most of the time , the European trucks that we get over here now seem to be getting lower.
Great video Steve, you've obviously been doing it for a while, but I'm surprised how you know how each different truck works and drives, and which bits to disconnect before towing. Good work!
Another great video, I watched your video of the recovery of the artic. Would it be possible on your next artic recovery if you could film the drive back to the dealer towing the artic because it must be difficult with the length and turns on the road? Thanks!
That was a tight fit getting the recovery truck down those side streets! Really love how you explain how everything works too. It's fascinating to see the different kinds of equipment for these recoveries and how weird the undercarriages can be for such lorries. If I could make a suggestion, would it be possible to match the volume of your intro and outro song to the rest of the video? It's much louder than your mellow, thoroughly relaxing narration style.
Was waiting to see if it was a blue outfit being recovered could give one the guys at work abit of stick 😆 🤣 Love watch your recovery videos . Liked being towed back in a few or tho the wait on call out not so much lol 😆
wes thy bin - thas bin truckin poorly ........... ok ok i`ll skip that bad pun but i`ll recover 😆 Mint job done - i`mm off need more coffee, cheers ken

awesome video again! just a question, surely you dont want to be under a vehicle any longer than you need too, screwing the nuts back onto the bolts while under the lorry seems a bit silly, like just grab them and get out from under it, i know its very secure but anything could happen...?
Hi Jay - glad you like video, and yes I isolated body controls and wheel stand under boom but have no control on anyone driving into truck. It’s a lot safer then recovering from motorway hard shoulder I can tell you!
Great video. That prop shaft was way too easy. The sprung ones are killer. Hated to have undue the universals to drop a shaft. Hope you have a nice baseball/bump hat for work under the vehicles. Nice set of wrenches, which brand do you prefer?
Nice job. You mentioned he had lost reverse gear but had forwards - had he lost most forwards gears making it impossible to just drive back to base cautiously?
Hi Puyol thanks for watching , normally on hub reductions axles like the Mercedes Econic in video you disconnect the prop shaft as you dont want to strip the hub reduction axle. If the Mercedes had a normal single drive axle i could remove the half shaft would possibly be easier than crawling underneath to disconnect the prop. But Mercedes axles have roller bearing so will leak oil if not sealed with cover.

Hi Daz thanks , dont think anybody takes much notice of me just doing my job main focus the truck they looking at. We have to disconnect the drive on all commercial vehicles we tow from the front manual or auto gearboxes to safe guard any potential damage to gearbox.
Hey, Just wondering that because the engine was running and the vehicle could move forward under its own power, which implies the driveline isn't bound up, could you have left the drive shafts in, and towed it with the engine running in neutral so that lubrication was maintained? I wonder if that would have saved some time from not having to pull the shafts ?
Issue with that is that is that these trucks have an antitrust device so that you can't move them foward unless a "puck" is etiher on seatbelt or on the seat. It essentially means it will run but it can't be driven or moved otherwise the engine shuts off.
Hi thanks for watching , we have to disconnect the drive to gearbox on all commercial vehicles either prop shaft or half shaft as per vehicle manufacturers recommendations.
Hi thanks for watching, customers we work for dont want there vehicles to be seen being towed, so have to cover registration numbers aswell as company names.
Hi Abhi , we have to disconnect the drive to the gearbox to prevent any possible damage ,either half shaft or in this case with dustcart with hub reduction hubs the prop shaft was disconnected. By selecting a neutral gear there is still movement in the gearbox that want get lubricated in towing process.
Thanks for watching , i would say Dennis is easier to prep for tow as you can either remove 1 half shaft or disconnect the prop shaft . The Mercedes has hub reduction drive axles so you have no choice but to disconnect the prop shaft so your working under the truck on your back and the rear steer axle is a bit more lively on the Merc when being towed.
A good hard working guy with lots of expertise.
Thanks for watching Paul.

Yes that’s correct!

Mega video I just stumbled upon this video and it’s a good video. That dust cart must be a smelly job to recover that if he’s fully loaded with waste.

Yes no bump cap on you need to watch your head
Nice job. You mentioned he had lost reverse gear but had forwards - had he lost most forwards gears making it impossible to just drive back to base cautiously?
Hi thanks for watching, it previously lost all gears in one way street so recovery safe option.
It has an Allison automatic transmission, could be a number of issues which cause a problem so make it undriveable
Excellent video, you have a nice routine worked out, should stop you missing any steps but I think you need a better lying down board.
Thanks Martin for watching, lost mat on job and pinched mat from my car lol.

You must have the knowledge with trucks, you could be called out to a new Volvo, then a old Leyland.
