Some comments have pointed out that it doesn't make sense to not have the money to spend on PC parts while buying in game items.
Aside from the fact that the occasional 20$ of golden eagles is not equal to a lump sum $500-$2000+ gaming PC, Fog lives in a part of the world where importing PC components is significantly more expensive than in America or Europe.

But still, the game giving an advantage for ULQ isn't great. They should've thought of something to even the odds. And I say this as a user of ULQ, it's just sad to ba able to see through obstacles and realise others do not.
ULQ gives marginal if any advantage at all. Skill is way bigger factor in playing well

I saw my first ULQ only yesterday, watching some short video of gameplay and I was SHOCKED at the advantage a ULQ player has. I had no idea it made the game that easy. No wonder I am getting shot in positions where I think I'm in cover!!!! Just being able to see a target from the air or through a snow bank or a non existent line of bushes!!!... ULQ is definitely a cheat these days... If you're a gamer in 2021 and claiming your PC doesn't support higher quality graphics then you're lying about being a gamer. There's no excuse.
I'm glad this guy got his account back etc.. but frankly its a bit disingenuous to claim it's not cheesing.
Really puts perspective on how video games are more than just games. They are an integral part of a players story regardless of the good or bad, we all have something to say about this game.

it really is disappointing when someone undermines gaming, like saying "oh, it's just a game", when THATS the key interest to that person, that's what this person does in their freetime. and when said freetime is hindered by something out of their control, in this example of getting banned, it really puts a dampen on that person. it's the equivalent of a car collector having all of their cars end up in a crash.
So many games and people that probably went through this exact situation. Back in 2017 Right before I started playing anshit ton of steam and started war thunder, I played roblox because I had played since 2011. roblox is just a shitshow now and my veteran account was permanently terminated because it was old, and "they feared people would mass password guess " and get in my account. I was pretty active and it made absolutely 0 sense. And it just shined on me how addicted I was to such a shitty and cashgrab community/company. the account was worth well around 1-1.5k USD and now I just use steam for games and I've made so many actual friends.

Its a problem in my opinion. Defeats the purpose of playing the game if half the shit doesn't render. I play on console and I can't play on ulq nor do I want to. Its takes the fairness out of the game in my opinion

I often complain about Gaijin, but I have to say that the countermeasures were very good here.

I feel bad for the guy, and at the same time worried because even though they added easy anti cheat this could still happen to anyone.
Easy Anti cheat doesn't really solve the problem. Gaijin's game design problem absolutely is the culprit.
At least War Thunder hackers are much less common than in other games, which helps increase community interaction with moderators and lets them have more time to deal with reports.

@@GigaPangolin except that the anti cheat isn't run in every game mode. ab doesn't run easy and you can tell the aim mods have really taken over. i cant keep up with the times i've been one shot from .8k+ while me and them are moving. gaijin really needs to make easy part of the game completely, not just an add on for rb.

Literally told one of the mods where to stick it. He was spawncamping in a bush covered Ferdinand and I told him to Kindly fuck off.
Gaijin really need to do better with their vetting process. Toxic players go completely unscathed but many innocent players are punished with little or no evidence. Many think spawncamping and bugs are the worst part of this game, but it's genuinely the Community Management that really sees the playerbase suffer.

Yeah Abusing report feature is completely toxic. While out there, there are few toxic/teamkiller/troll squadron that are still active. Untouched by the report feature.
Honestly they should really just never implement this in any game. Make a report only doable through the game website and require multiple fact checks like a replay, names, time, and tier. Just to make sure that if they get the tier wrong, what else are they mistaken on.
This system helps no one as is because it requires multiple times before the system takes it into account, and it can't be done manually because people maliciously spam like they do. Guarantee this would happen way less and be way more accurate if someone actually looked it over.

I got banned for a week for killing one of them on my tail by dropping a bomb low enough that it exploded behind me and caught them. They didn't respawn, got immediately kicked and a Xbox Message telling me that “It’s unsportsmanlike to be a bitch to that degree.”

I used to play league of legends a LOT, 90% of the time solo. I logged out one night, woke up and went to play more and found I was banned for botting, someone logged onto my acc after I logged out and went 3 games scripting before the acc got banned. I was able to get it back thankfully but I was really scared I was going to lose all my time and money.

I also changed one aspect of war thunder forever. Thanks to me they added the function to check the email address when creating an account.
Because I was an idiot I created wt account years ago with non existing email. And when I needed to change the password they refused and said it was not possible so I begged war thunder support for months to change my email (login) address and a couple of times mentioned that it was their fault because there was no opiton to check the validity of an email address. So they actually added the function to check the email address when you are creating new account. Before me there was no option to check the email address.

@@kool7578 yeah my old computer broke and my current laptop is really a downgrade, theres a lot of cool stuff going on visually because I cant play on a higher graphic setting without dropping to sub 25 fps (being able to see the burning wrecks with a hole where I shot them was the greatest thing ever) that I used to he able to experience that I cant anymore feelsbadman

I often worry that I may piss off the wrong squad by just playing and having this same occurrence happen sometimes. Been playing since 2016 and although I’m not the best, I have fairly great matches quite often.

i haven't been banned from War Thunder but i can tell how frustrating it could be when a game that you spent hour and hours to grind and suddenly it get banned just because someone was bad at the game
I remember that reddit post. I was happy the ban was reversed, but there was a point before it was even confirmed what he was banned for that was seriously headache inducing as people were throwing out every wild theory they could think of as to why he was banned and some of it was causing mild panics. The one that stuck out to me was that he had gotten banned due to having trackir software installed which was a ridiculous excuse. I dont think I actually heard the actual scenario that triggered the whole issue. Not surprised it was squadron battles, that mode can be a deep deep pit of salt, I actually feel younger since I walked away from it.
Yeah, lots of people had lots of theories on the matter, during one of the questions that were asked, one asked me to provide a list of software I was using, and it was TrackNOIR that caught his attention unknowingly, it is an open source Opentrack applications that War Thunder actually uses to track your head movements in Sim matches, which I happened to use at the time.
Very well made video, interesting subject. Glad to hear he got his account back in the end.
But a think that struck me as odd is the way he got banned, shooting through the snow layer like that is well known, its still a thing and always has been.
Hell even I do it from time to time, I've even seen youtubers do it, I think that ability to fire through the ground mesh applies to sand dunes and even solid ground at times, that's just how the game works - However, I did not know that ULQ makes it so that the game doesn't bother with rendering the top level of the porous ground mesh, effectively giving you the ability to see beyond the top layer.
I can see how that would appear to be cheating, from a higher graphical setting perspective.
There are many graphical oddities like that in the game that have me worried over what could be considered "cheating" or just fair play.
An example would be the poor level of detail, LOD pop in or rendering distance on many objects in the game.
On many levels when looking straight at a smaller forest patch from a distance in the third person, only the major trees are rendered in; so you can essentially see through the forest (despite all the trees).
But when getting closer to the forest, the bushes and smaller trees will start rendering in and obscure vision through to the other side. An example of a map where this is notorious would be the domination configuration of the Wallonia map, the forest patch between the B and C cap, where there is a road running through it.
When coming in from the south spawn and looking at that patch of forest in third person you can sometimes see players driving on the other side or even inside the forest because at distance its not fully rendered in yet. They probably think they are being obscured by the thick cover of the forest and rightfully so because thats how it appears on their screen, but on my screen they are fully visible unless I zoom in with gun sights or binoculars; because then the forest fully renders in obscuring them.
It makes me nervous taking a shot in a situation like that because rightfully they will wonder how I managed to see them through the forest and even accurately track them, well its all down to the graphics and relative perspective.
This LOD issue effects many things like walls, fencing, bushes even decorative objects around the map and it doesn't matter what graphics setting you have, that's just how the game works to save on performance I guess.
I saw another case on the forums where a guy had halted an enemy tank near a body of water. As a defensive measure the guy had popped a smoke screen masking his position, but the reflection in the water didn't render the smoke screen so the shooter knew exactly where in the smoke he was hiding just by tracking him in the reflection.
I've had moments myself where my vision is being obscured by burning wrecks and smoke, but sure as rain someone manages to see me though it and shoot me, my first reaction is:
How did he see me if I couldn't see him? How did he track me through that smoke and fire? Is he hacking?
But then I also have to start taking into consideration that the smoke and fire might not even render in on his screen.
Gaijin handled themselves well in this situation, but it does remind me yet again of the rampant issue of squadron players ganging up to abuse the system and other players. A squadron mass-reporting one player should never result in a ban, especially with the extreme level of clique-factor and general toxicity I’ve seen in a lot of squadrons. I’ve personally been muted for days at a time for saying something perfectly innocuous that offended some squadron player enough that he got all of his neckbeard pals to mass report me for having the audacity to call out his use of map exploits. There’s even one squadron I know of that EXCLUSIVELY exists to grief in arcade battles, they take out only fighters and just orbit above the other team’s spawn for the whole game and taunt them in chat the whole time. How that isn’t abusive but someone telling them to fuck off is I have no clue. Gaijin needs to take a serious look at some of these squadrons and explore options for recourse for individual players that get targeted by them. I’m glad foglight got his account back but I’m sure there are hundreds if not thousands of players who were either banned or muted unfairly for the same reason as him who have nothing they can do about it.

ULQ does give advantage tho, back when i first play WT i dont have a pc so i play with my laptop. Even the simplest detail like shadow will give you am advantage, like high setting you cant see enemy in certain dark places, ulq see no shadows at all lmao.

So.. the take-away here is that playing the game on Ultra Low Quality gives an unfair advantage by allowing you to see through layers that others cannot.
How is it unfair when everyone has the ability to replicate it? If it was ultra high settings that gave the advantage I could see that argument because not everyone's pc could run those settings. But everyone can run potatoe quality should they choose too.

I'm really happy for him that this was overturned, but it tugs at the heart strings really to hear. Guy had a PC only capable of ULQ, and because he just quite literally did not know he was semi-walling, he got slapped for it... again really happy it was overturned.

Dang Fogxlight I feel for ya man, but I am glad you were able to get your hard earned account back. Nothing like that should happen to honest players. To all players out there who rage ( myself Included ) after you die in the game; ranked or not. Please remember, at the end of the day it’s just a game and has no true impact on your life. If you get knocked down a peg just take a breather and tackle it later. The game isn’t going anywhere. GLHF out there
An experience like that can permanently ruin a game for someone. I was permanently banned from some a game I will not name becuase of how support handled it over a case of mistaken identity. After 2 weeks of frustration trying to get answers my account was unbanned and my name was vindicated. Yet the game just wasn't the same after that. When you have to go to such extremes to be able to play the game again you start to ask yourself "is this game really worth all this?" I played two matches after I was unbanned. Uninstalled a game I had over 10000 hours in and I almost never even think of it anymore. It just wasn't fun anymore. Not after 2 weeks of telling support I was innocent only for them to either not respond or just flat out call me a lier.
TLDR: dude got banned for playing on lowest settings, reaches the top of war thunder's subreddit, gets unbanned, and receives a year of premium as a compensation.
this made gaijin perform a massive check on their bans and their methods, then they implement EAC.

Am perma banned in chat aswell. For me the ban came after i questioned a mod. The question was very simple. Why after 7 years do we still have rendering problems and broken netcode? After that i was banned from the chat never to speak again. And to tell you the truth i dont fucking care. After 8 years of this shit i dont fucking care i know that gayjin will die when gunnerheatpc comes out.

I don't know how I feel about this video. I mean on one hand it's nice to finally find someone who has spent literal years in a game only for it to sh*t on you for no good reason. I mean i always knew there were people like that out there but its finally nice to find someone by name even if it's just their gamer tag or steam ID or whatever. But on the other hand, this triggered my PTSD for lack of a better term, regarding how I have spent 5 years in WoTB only to be sh*t on by having account after account striped away from me time after time for the first 4 years of my time in the game. Mind you I only had 1 active account at a time. And so, I have all of that right as I was about to end my break and return to grinding in WoTB. Truth be told, I am really contemplating whether or not I should even send this let alone typing it up. especially knowing dam* well this can and probably will hunt me for a while for some reason I have no hope of finding out if I do send it. I guess I am going to send it any ways since I am working on getting outside my comfort zone more often and this would help. I don't know how I am going to end this, so I guess this is it. Really nice video. I've always had the fear of being banned ever since I got the T-14 and Kv-1C (r) and I got 8-15 kills almost every game. It got to the point I still barely touch these tanks since I have heard rumors about Easy Anti-Cheat can ban you for doing to good.
EasyToCheay is a broken ass anti cheat chivlery isnt even out yet and belive it or not it already has cheaters in it. And dont mind it man if you are playing those cancer tanks its not hard to see that its not cheating is you playing good in a cancer tank. Gaijin just banned me as well. Close to 6000 hours since 2013 (that's over 2 yrs of a full-time job) 500+ spaded planes, maxxed crews dozens of purchased premiums - all gone. Gaijin says I logged in with altered game files, something I wouldn't know how to do even if I wanted to. It's BS, of course. They won't say what triggered it, and are refusing to reconsider. They point to a provision in the EULA which says they can cancel an account anytime on 'reasonable suspicion', which is a very low bar and not good enough to strip players of their purchases.
It's a great flight combat sim. Fly it if you like, but no one should ever spend a penny to play this game, because you never know when Gaijin will decide to arbitrarily take it away. Also makes you wonder how many hours of your life you'd want to invest in this uncertain venture.
Well isn't that nice that they actually acknowledge their mistakes and improve on it, thank God it's a happy ending.

I record warthunder using shadowplay. I've used almost every editing suite available but at the moment I'm using a premiere pro to edit with after effects photoshop, gimp and sharex as support

I got banned for Third-Party software (eluding that I was cheating) in February. I never cheated and never had such software on my PC. They still won't tell me what kind of program I was banned for, I appealed the banned 5 times and they won't answer my questions. Scummiest company ever. I was a paying customer also wich is what pissed me off the most.
that being said, this situation underlines the issue with ULQ perfectly, or at least how it used to be. Some blame lies with the people that reported him (mainly not understanding how hacking in WT works), but regardless of that Gaijin is mostly at fault for that situation, as they are for allowing an unfair advantage to exist in competitive games to begin with.
if i got false banned i would be fucking pissed off and probably sue gaijin because 1. i dont even know how to hack 2. its bullshit that they just 'assume' you hack and dont give you any other reasoning
When i got trolled for test driving the sherman calipoe i lost nearly 17.000K SL because they body blocked me from leaving spawn and i stupidly dropped arty on the greifer instead of just leaving the match after that i uninstalled WT and haven't played it since.
Me who plays on almost ULQ and still gets too many lag spikes and plays on 20-25 fps on average: *nervous sweating*
Honestly, its also a very good idea to upgrade your pc if you need ultra low to play at decent frames, too many people abuse ultra low, giving the legal xray hacks

Well, it's real and I'm F0G.
Kinda like my story when there was the e100 event and there was a massive ban wave after, which included myself get banned.
The event was good and i spend about 2k hours on the game and many gold(since my friend managed to send me an invite for beta? I think and that was the easiest way to get in)
Yet after the event the message popped up of breaching TOC, never got back and stopped playing WT forever.
Submitted several recordings (it was a big thing for me to be able to record some of the matches instead of from replays) and had massive collection of replay files (nearly all of my matches ever played) and asked them which matches has been suspicious and why.
Sent them replays (when there were no global replays on their website) explained what’s happening, but they had their “suspicion” according to them.
That was the time when started using macros with my new high end mouse, specifically for shooting down planes and follow them in one direction.
It was hard to get it right, but it was a great success when I managed to get it done just to move the mouse automatically with the mouse driver and the macro feature that was built in.
Yet never got back my account and since then I despise Gaijin for that and the only thing i see is they run for money and don’t really care about e.g people win tank fights by shooting gun barrels and it takes forever to repair and all other crap where modern tanks has fire suppression system, yet in-game they burn down in 2 seconds or in the event of pressing the FPE.
I am glad in some ways to get banned as i would’ve stopped playing the game anyway as it’s got worse in the past 5-6 years.

i know that this was posted 2 years ago but thought id go ahead and say this anyway. i used to have a wt account that started somewhere back in 2015, 3 years and hundreds of dollars later, i try logging in to find my account hasn't been banned, its been locked, due to refunding a purchase. i tried everything with gaijin and the banks but no one said they could do anything about it. i still miss the old things i had on that account.
So its gaijin's bullshit ULQ settings.
And instead of fixing it, either up the settings so its equal for everyone, or make sure that ULQ has 'other' difficulties in graphical behaviour, they just ban people who genuinely need to use it.
I get called out for it every time even if i show that im running around 30-40 fps ate best. And now they made it so on ULQ u cant lock with aams or with helis (for example to aim hellfires reliably). Honestly it seems like the community just wants everyone who cant afford a high quality computer to play on ultra high but yet so many come and watch streamers play on ULQ at 200+ fps.
@@mayday5549 The problem is that ULQ gives a distinct advantage to the people who use it, you can see the start difference for Frozen pass with the height of the snow. So for people who are turbo sweats or very competitive it's an obvious choice of which graphical setting to use. Gaijin needs to address the obvious issue of terrain inconsistency across video settings.
The worst part of it all is that I know EXACTLY what is causing this sort of problem, that being the soft terrain.
@@148crusader ik it's a problem with the BS terrain stuff. But I don't understand how it removes the ability to use some features. If I want to use high-tier aircraft or helis I have to endure 20 fps or lower. And honestly, people need to stop saying everyone who uses ULQ is a tryhard and not just go "bruh just buy a pc" when we show that ULQ is a needed thing.

you shouldn't need therapy for doing something you like. anyone would be pretty damn upset if they got banned for no reason from a game after playing for years even without spending a dime on it. well, it doesn't need to be just games. you would probably get the same reaction from people if you threw away their favorite toy or something.

Over a year later from when this video was uploaded, got banned with the exact same message with little indication as to what "hacking" I was doing. This video gives me hope that maybe I might get my account back and be able to enjoy the game I've been playing since middle school.

This reminds me of when I almost got banned for managing to kill 4 enemy tanks that were swarming my M22. As for ULQ itself, Yes, many players simply can't run the game without it.

If you have ever made the simple mistake of ever using a bad word or phrase, a salty enough clan will find it and brigade you.
i once landed a shot across the entire map on my T34 while on the move without even aiming. Afterwards, I was legitimately worried people would report me for it
They could avoid these ulq issues and people abusing ulq (considered the same as hacking if you don't need it) if they didn't take things away like the snow rendering but just made the overall quality lower
