    ** Command Ops 2 description **
    Command Ops is a wargame engine that lets you assess, plan, order and react at the operational level just like a real Corps, Division and Brigade commander.
    Now, the smartest and most realistic operational level wargame just got a whole lot better. Command like a real commander in this pausable, continuous time simulation of WW2 operational warfare, where the emphasis is on planning, anticipating and reacting to enemy developments. This is not a click-fest and you don’t have to issue orders to every unit. The world’s smartest operational level AI can be trusted to do a reasonable job of managing your forces.

    I was overwhelmed by the complexity of this game until I found this channel. You explained everything very well. You should do a comprehensive tutorial because you would do a enjoyable and interesting job, better than the official tut. 10/10 thank you.

  • @Blxz

    I honestly think this game is beyond my capabilities. Cool to watch once everyone starts organising and moving. How specific do your orders have to be? For example, could you give an example to he top level unit and tell it to 'take the far hill' and then let it try and win the battle for you or do you have to give more orders than that?

    • @TortugaPower
      @TortugaPower  8 лет назад +4

      I have never tried giving orders to the highest level (in our case here, CCA HQ), but I'm guessing that yes that would work -- let the AI go against the AI. I'm not 100% sure tho. But otherwise, yes this game is slightly difficult to get into, and there are still times when "your subordinates" [the AI] makes dumb decisions and it leads to frustration. But maybe that's part of the fun/immersion?

    • @JoeKundlak
      @JoeKundlak 6 лет назад

      Yes, you can basically order your whole force to "go secure that bridge" and the AI will populate relevant orders to its subunits (based on the settings for the command, the environment, enemy reactions etc.). But of course you are better off giving orders also to some of the sub-units of the whole command, to better realize your strategy. Also, the Command Delay (I believe that is the name) plays a huge role, as there are always delays in units relaying the relevant commands to their subunits. If you turn it off, you can have a more hand-on approach, but that will not be realistic - and for some scenarios you will have the "best" Command Delay setting recommended. But take my words with a grain of salt, I am also only getting into Command Ops 2 myself.

    Don't know if you've gotten into contact with LnL by now, but if not, then probably the best place to contact them is via the Consimworld forum, if you're familiar with it. Also, pretty much every question/issue anyone mentions there gets the "open a support ticket" response, but it's worth a try.

    • @TortugaPower
      @TortugaPower  7 лет назад +1

      I went to the Lock n' Load publishing site, do you think this Consimworld is a better place to try? I figured that, since LnL is the main publisher and since that is where you go to download, that it would be the main area to seek support/etc.

      Ever consider Strategic Command 2? Good lord, the madness that game can have :D I actually wound up being trapped in this hellish war as the allies in Turkey during the muddy season. Endless mountains being fought over in the grimmest resurrection of WW1 seen...nothing moved, supply was hell, reinforcements were nearly impossible. But it expanded the front in the east so hard that DDAY was virtually unopposed. :D This Command Ops is pretty cool too!

    Miusfront has a great grafical representation too. I like both games, and Combat Mission too

  • @chineletteri2604
    @chineletteri2604 6 лет назад +4

    CO2 is a brilliant game concept but the implementation is tedious and boring, for one simple reason: You cannot rename a unit. You are constantly dealing with names like "D Coy. 83th Recon Bn," "AG Pl 48 Arm Inf Bn," and "2 Pl H Coy 3/32 Armored Rgt." All units have cumbersome names like that. They are historic, but oh sooooo tedious. A simple option to rename any unit---to give it a friendly name just for gameplay purposes---would make all the difference in the world. Names like "Buffalo," "Tuxedo," "Joe's Bunch," or anything the user chooses would make all the difference. I love the game but gave up playing it, because of the tedium of horrid names. And, historically, a commander will not pronounce all that crap (such as 275 Arm Fd Arty Bn) while giving orders. No, he will say, "Tell Johnson to have his guns support that left flank." Can you imagine Patton saying, "Tell the 275th Armored Forward Artillery Batalion to support the left flank." I don't think so. Great generals love efficiency and not long-winded pronunciation of tedious and impractical formal names.

      I think you have a fair point, Chine. I would say especially for this time period. I'm not sure how things work nowadays, but the modern military may be much more precise about its designations, even at the higher levels. At the lower levels, strict radio discipline is enforced (although in the heat of the moment, I'm sure it slips).

    • @igor-sukharev
      @igor-sukharev 6 лет назад +1

      That's actual thought, espesially for me as the non-English gamer. I would rename your example to "275 артб", or tank units to "123 тб" or "123 тр". But, probably, it's a problem of localization that just doesn't exists.

    • @jazmanjef
      @jazmanjef 5 лет назад +3

      You're complaining about stuff that's going on 'in your head', not in the actual game. The game is not pronouncing anything, you are doing that in your brain. You need a 5-day pass for therapy.

    • @Xepent
      @Xepent 5 лет назад +1

      Yeah callsigns are massive at even the higher ranks, theres always someone higher rank around who makes sure that all subordinates are following protocol, because in the heat of the moment, the best thing you can do is be clear and concise and remove ambiguity about who when what and where action is happening. Communications is the single most important factor in commanding multipronged and multifaceted military forces, instant access to information allows for far more control in the randomness of war
