Ranking your listings at the top of Etsy search results is the difference between making sales on Etsy and not. It took me quite a while before I figured out what the big factors were to get ranked at the top of Etsy, now that I have my items consistently rank at the top of the terms I'm interested in.

I thought it was very interesting about running the key word searches on my own and spending time on the page. I'm not totally comfortable asking my friends to invest their time like this, though. Our products auto-renew after a purchase, but we have seasonal items that we may begin renewing more frequently. We also decided to revise some of our titles to run a comparison on stats. For example, we sell phone cases with custom designs. We left a listing with the way we titled previously, then we copied the listing and changed the title and tags based on Google key word tool results. In a couple weeks, I'm going to compare the stats between the two listings to see if the title and tag changes improved views, favorites and sales.

My tittles definitely had the cute names and very basic. As soon as I changed my tittles I stated getting sales. 18 sales in one day!! That’s the most I’ve ever gotten in one month time. Thank you so much!! Now I’ll be making sure to renew my listings ever week.
I like to renew late Friday night or early Saturday morning. The weekend is my best sales time.

I had a shop on Etsy, I haven't sold there for at least 3 years, I have a completely new shop now, that I opened almost a year ago, but it still "on vacation" and obviously has no items, I do get traffic and likes, and I'm pretty sure because of the name and amazing banner that I ordered from a fantastic seller on Etsy.
I have lots of traffic on my Facebook page of this shop. But I know I have nothing in there.

I have 2 shops that are active signcreation and linsartwork on Etsy and it is a lot of hard work to maintain and keep creating. thanks Charles for pushing me harder. I have an active Pinterest, twitter and fb and kind of let them sit there after I uploaded them. I will tweak those more too.

Such great info. I'm so glad you talked about the renewing, it made a lot of sense. Do you recommend renewing all of your items or just those are being favorited or purchased most frequently? I'm new, so I assume all of them just to get a kick start? Also, I have Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram accounts that I've had for years. Do I use my personal accounts, or should I set up new accounts in my shop’s name.
+Jan Arnold Hey Jan, we recommend renewing a couple per day (like 1 or 2, but it depends on how many listings you have in total). About your question on the social media accounts, for Facebook and Pinterest, you can create a business page that you can link to your personal profile. For Instagram, I suggest creating a new account with your shop's name.

Etsy says that recency isn't that important any longer. It gives an item a short boost in ranking, but relevancy is way more important.

I wish that location impacted, my items are cheap so I can't affored to include postage, but someone half the world away isn't going to want to pay it either impacting my conversion a lot.

I have heard it all, ...my photos are very good, I write good copy, I'm improving on my key words, my descriptions are right on, and even though there is always room for improvement, maybe I just need to be patient. How do we find things from the web that we’d like to sell? For instance…how do I find a good quality necklace that I can sell for a good price? I don’t think this is in your training.
A high presence can mean a high rank, and influencer marketing via phlanx can help you do that once used properly
so my question is with your title tags and description, do you need to repeat your same keywords in all 3 of those or different key words in all 3 to maximize your amount of keywords? I guess the question is simply are title, tags, and description considered separately for key terms? thanks in advance great video, subscribed!
The most important area to have your keywords is the listing title. You should try to put them into the description and the tags as well but the impact is a LOT lower there so don't over stress it. Put as many as you can naturally and in any order.
I sell planner stickers and I've been putting about 25 as the quantity to sell....would it be better for me to only offer 5 or less so that I renew more often? I'm just starting out so any advice is most helpful! Thanks!

Very good info, I do sell the same items at crafts show and people are buying but on etsy I do have problem. I give the same description that I have on etsy, maybe some one have any suggestion ?
In Ebay, the more you sell, takes you to the top, so renewing (like not having a shop and you lose your build up after the month).
Why is this different with Etsy ?

+altar7 Hey Altar7, not really. Like what we mentioned, the core things that Etsy considers are keywords, pricing, popularity and recency.
How to increase traffic to your shop
When you revise, would that count as a renewal?
Moon Dancer no that would not be considered a renewal, you have to renew with Etsy and your listing publication date will be updated.
So in other words, delete it and then put it back up.Makes sense. Thank you for the tips. BTW your writing is still better than mine.
No need to delete it, there is actually an option to renew the listing without deleting it. If you're viewing your listing while logged in there should be a blue bar across the top of it, on the blue bar there will be a link to edit the listing as well as renew it, click renew and then follow the steps. hHope that helps!

What renewing means ??
+OFFICIAL MAIL Hey, Official Mail. When you list an item, it will remain active for 4 months. When you renew a listing, it puts it closer to the top of search results again. Etsy takes into account keywords, pricing, popularity and recency when they rank an item. So in most cases, the more recent the better. To renew a listing, just login to your shop, pull up the listing, and click publish on the bar to renew the item. You can also use services like Etsy on Sale to schedule your renewals to save yourself time.

Basically what he is describing is that you need to employ bots to view your store to make it relevant. Now this video is 5 years old, so not sure whether etsy stops that.

I'm trying to get started with my shop sawdustdotca (sawdust.ca) just learning to list items. I am amazed at what it takes to get your items found by potential customers (Great Video and its 3yrs old!) . I'm a hit a local craft shows, they like having me back. I just need to learn to reach a wider audience.
Using multiple media sources and having friends/family favorite you items is a great place to start.

WHY do you despise Pinterest?
Etsy's search function is very stupid. It always has been. It's not diverse and intelligent like Google or Amazon which are good at figuring out what your looking for. It mostly goes off key words like you said which is very archaic. It causes the entire etsy marketplace to be saturated with redundancy and makes it hard for products to be noticed. You SHOULD be able to say "The Dream Catcher Collection Necklace" instead of some generic title wich everyone else is using.
