You've come along way since the 1970's model vans we used to build and dream about buying one day!!! I noticed you posted this video a day before my 55th birthday... and I only found it today! Awesome to have reconnected after 40+ years!!! Hope all is well with you and yours!

I always wondered how a dump truck and transfer trailer worked. Thank you for the video, They are a common combination used here in California. Pretty interesting to see how it's done!

Called a California Double, also a term used for Pneumatic Doubles

We purchased it at auction in Arizona and brought it back to Alberta Canada without knowing how it worked as well.
At the time there weren't any videos on line to show how it operated. I had to phone the manufacturer and they walked me though it.
I really like using it now, once I figured it out. Perfect for tighter job sites where trailers won't fit.

That’s seem time consuming I’ve only seen that set up in California I’ve always wonder if that’s something the got to use there

      Good evening Alvaro,
Yes it can be time consuming.
It takes me about an extra 5 minutes per load compared to a regular truck and pup.
However I can bring 2 loads to tighter job sites rather than make 2 trips, I just leave the trailer nearby in a safe location. This saves a lot of time on those jobs.

What are the advantages of a transfer over a truck and pup? My first thought is that you can drop the trailer to get into tight spots. Other than that, I can't think of any other advantages. Legitimate question. I'm curious. I drive a mixer and my company also has many truck and pup set-ups as well as transfers and I always wonder what makes one better than the other. Thank you. Cheers.

Good evening, Yes it's very good at allowing you to bring two loads where you couldn't fit a truck and pup.
It is also a lighter trailer because it doesn't have any hydraulics and a lighter frame which allows for a bit more payload.
Also the spread between the axles allows for more pay load compared to the axle configuration on a standard pup.
The final advantage is less tire scuffing when turning.
The disadvantages are it's a pain to back up and it takes about 4-5 extra minutes to unload compared to a conventional truck and pup.

Un chain your transfer box gate.....jesus people.

Why doesnt the tail gate on the trailer box open further? And how is the box powered?

    • @z49racing
      @z49racing  2 года назад +1

The trailer tailgate was being held back by my spread chains as I was recently doing some driveways.
The box is powered by an electric motor driving the front axle.
      Thanks for asking!

You americans really are at least 20 years behind in technology. This is how we do it in sweden and have done in a long time. Almost everything is controlled from the cabin. ruclips.net/video/X3-bPaZchYA/видео.html
That is is really cool system!
Please give me a little grace as the truck and trailer is over 22 years old and still on the road. ;)
I would love to see something like that in person.
It appears that the final electrical hook up would be done by hand?
    Thanks
